"But I just left it right here! You two are the only ones around, it must've been you who took it!" the little boy shouted angrily at the two girls.
The other girl protested loudly, "That's not true! I went to get some water after you left. I just got back. I don't know anything about it!"
Linda stepped back a few paces, fear flickering in her eyes, and said nothing.
"Fine, then we'll search for it. Whoever took it, I won't let them off!" the boy snapped, beginning to search with his friend.
From where she stood, Claire saw the yo-yo Linda had secretly hidden under the counter. She immediately understood what had happened.
Her heart sank. She's stealing now? If this continued, the little girl would be ruined.
"Why don't you boys check over here?" Claire suddenly suggested.
The two boys ran toward her side.
Linda's face went pale; terror filled her eyes.
"Hey, there's a bag here," one boy said after a moment, spotting the little pouch. He picked it up.
