Claire set the glass of water before Gilbert . Looking at this man, blind, unsteady, unable even to drink without her help. She recalled how arrogant and domineering he always was around her, especially his blatant favoritism toward Emma . She almost wanted to take this chance to teach him a lesson.
He had been willfully blind to Emma's misdeeds before, who would've thought he'd end up literally blind now? Was this karma?
She pressed the glass roughly against his lips.
Gilbert was indeed thirsty. The moment the rim brushed his mouth, he opened up to drink, yet after several attempts, not a single drop reached him. Just as he was about to snap, Claire abruptly tipped the glass hard toward his mouth, sending water rushing into both his throat and nose.
"Cough, cough!" Gilbert choked violently at once.
"Sorry, my hand slipped." Lowering her gaze to his disheveled state, Claire's lips curled with a sly smile, though her voice lilted with feigned gentleness.
