Chapter 208 - Rise Again, My Love!

When Yu Tianming appeared out of thin air, Dai Weisi, standing atop the city wall, was stunned. Thousand Ton Douluo's movements also froze. The two of them stopped what they were doing.

"Your Grace Thousand Ton, allow me to speak with him" Yu Tianming said softly. He then turned to his old acquaintance atop the wall and called out in a loud, clear voice "Wise brother Weisi, as the ruler of a nation, dying in vain inside these walls is merely your own tragedy. But to preserve the lives of your loyal subjects—that would be the perfect ending for Star Luo. Surrender, for the sake of Star Luo's final loyalists."

At the sight of Yu Tianming's arrival, Dai Weisi knew that this city could no longer be held.

He slumped to the ground, his eyes falling helplessly on the ironclad Spirit Empire forces below. A thought rose quietly in his heart. 'Is my final resistance just sacrificing these soldiers' lives for nothing? Can I not even hold on to the dignity of dying in battle? Maybe… maybe I should never have fought Mu Bai for the throne. Without the title of Star Luo Emperor, perhaps I could have lived a peaceful life…'

As Dai Weisi remained silent, Yu Tianming called out again.

"We were once brothers. If you're willing to surrender and announce it to the world, you can still live a peaceful life in wealth."

Yu Tianming had already ascended to the position of a First-Class God. Qian Renxue was destined to become the Angel God. The Spirit Hall's military campaign was never about greed for land or wealth—it was about unifying the people's faith and hearts, helping Qian Renxue break through the divine barrier. A decree from the Star Luo Emperor would help the people accept the Angel God's glory more smoothly. Dai Weisi wasn't a necessary casualty—in fact, he had a crucial role to play.

Given a way out, Dai Weisi no longer had the courage to die for his cause. This had always been an unwinnable war. To hold out until the last city had already counted as valiant. In the past months of Spirit Empire's conquests, Dai Weisi's spirit had been stretched to its absolute limit. Yu Tianming's words completely shattered his last bit of will. He shouted down from the wall with relief in his voice.

"Star Luo surrenders. Please spare these soldiers."

Several months had passed since the Spirit Empire unified the continent and merged the Heaven Dou and Star Luo empires into one.

In that short time, grand statues of the Angel God had been erected across the lands. Towering several stories high, each statue bore six wings, golden hair, golden armor, and the exact visage of Qian Renxue. They held the Holy Angel Sword, with expressions that were both noble and sacred—merciful yet full of divine authority.

In Holy Spirit Village outside Nuoding City, Jerry arrived early at the local Spirit Hall branch to pay his respects before the Angel God's statue.

He was the grandson of Old Jack and now the current village chief. After Old Jack's death, Jerry, an ordinary man, had neither the power to protect himself nor to avenge his grandfather. Left with no choice, he packed up and left with his family. It wasn't until after the Spirit Empire unified the continent that he returned to the village he had lived in for half his life.

Old Jack's entire family had been devoted followers of the Angel God. They lived by the principle of kindness toward others. Helping to raise young Tang San had seemed no different from helping any child in need. Whenever a family in the village met with trouble, they were always the first to offer aid. Because of that, they had earned a reputation for goodness. After Jerry returned to the village, he immediately succeeded his grandfather's position as chief.

Back when Tang Hao still lived on the mountain, having fallen into complete ruin due to his crippled legs, even his blacksmith work had been abandoned. Hungry, he resorted to stealing chickens, slaughtering cows, and taking whatever he pleased from the villagers.

He didn't kill, but his appetite was staggering. One man ate enough for ten, and every meal had to include meat. Holy Spirit Village had always been poor—how could it survive his constant raiding? The villagers went bankrupt one after another, fleeing the place and leaving it a near-abandoned ghost town. Once the wealthiest village for miles around, it had become desolate.

Only after Tang San betrayed his father and rid the village of the threat that was Tang Hao did things begin to turn around. When Spirit Hall took over Heaven Dou, registering all farming households and erecting an Angel God statue in Holy Spirit Village, the village slowly began to flourish again.

As the sun rose, more villagers came to the branch hall, bowing before the Angel God's statue in reverence.

This small Spirit Hall branch was the very one where Su Yuntao had awakened Tang San's Martial Soul years ago. Though not luxurious, it was enough to shelter the statue from wind and rain.

Old Li from the east end of the village arrived and knelt in worship before the statue. He then turned to Jerry.

"Little Jerry, I heard the Spirit Empire is planning to renovate the Spirit Hall here. Do we villagers need to donate money?"

Although Jerry was already in his thirties, Old Li, as a peer of Old Jack's, still called him "Little Jerry" out of habit.

Jerry shook his head.

"Grandpa Li, no need. Why would Spirit Hall make us pay?"

"In the old days, nobles taxed us to build their lavish palaces and halls. But the Spirit Empire doesn't collect taxes from us. How could they afford to build so many branch halls?"

"Spirit Hall doesn't run on money from the people. Besides, the Empire confiscated wealth from the nobles—that alone is enough to fund everything. The merciful Angel God would never ask the people for coin."

Old Li looked at the devout young man before him and nodded with deep satisfaction.

"Back then, everyone said Old Jack was too soft. But I always believed in his faith in the Angel God. And look at us now—under the Angel God's grace, we're finally living honest lives without exploitation. Only a shame Old Jack didn't live to see it…"

Old Jack wasn't the only Angel God devotee, and Holy Spirit Village wasn't the only place once wrung dry by greedy nobles. Since the rise of the Spirit Empire, stories like Holy Spirit Village's had played out across the land. As more people knelt before the Angel God, the divine statue in Spirit City's Angel Temple radiated even more brilliant light. Beneath that light, Qian Renxue, seated in meditation at the statue's feet, began to undergo subtle changes.

On Seagod Island, after undergoing several trials, Xiao Wu finally arrived before the Sea Enchantress' Holy Pillar.

Others came to Seagod Island seeking the Seagod's trials to grow stronger, but Xiao Wu had a different goal. She came seeking the Sea Enchantress—seeking a way to reunite Tang San's soul and body. This was her true purpose.

The Sea Enchantress' Holy Pillar was unlike any other. It wasn't merely a pillar—it was a sculpture. Carved from jade-like stone, the statue was of a kneeling young woman, hands pressed together in prayer, bowing toward the distant Seagod Temple. Though stone, the expression on her face radiated sincerity and piety, vivid and lifelike.

At the edge of the pillar, a girl sat with a relaxed air. She wore a black cropped top, and from the waist down stretched a long, elegant blue fishtail. The graceful arc of her form continued from her tail up to her waist. A faint smile lingered at the corners of her lips as her tail playfully slapped the surface of the sea.

Sensing Xiao Wu's gaze, the Sea Enchantress raised her head and swept her eyes toward the shore.

"So you're the ones who've been looking for me? If you've got something to say, say it quickly" her voice rang like silver bells, light and cheerful, impossible to feel hostile toward.

"We?" Xiao Wu raised a brow, catching the unusual word she used.

"That's right. You may look like one person, but you're emitting three distinct spiritual waves. I'd say there are three of you trying to challenge me" the Sea Enchantress chuckled as she continued to pat the sea's surface. "Your mental waves are so interwoven, I can't read your thoughts. That's a first."

Xiao Wu paused briefly before speaking.

"Only the merfolk of Douluo Continent study souls and spirit. Sea Enchantress Douluo, I've heard you are a princess of the merfolk race. I've come seeking your help."

"We mermaids are half-human, half-sea soul beast. Indeed, we're gifted in matters of spirit. My grandfather is the merfolk clan's current leader. He says I'm a once-in-ten-thousand-years genius of our race" she smiled. "If you've got a soul-related issue, ask away. I'll do my best to help."

Xiao Wu didn't waste time. She took out a body from her storage space. The figure had long, flowing blue hair, delicate features, eyes closed as if in peaceful sleep—like a slumbering goddess.

She looked at the Sea Enchantress and said clearly "Sea Enchantress Douluo, I want the soul housed within me to return to its original body."

"Soul and body reunification?" the Sea Enchantress' smile faded, her tone serious. "If the soul had just recently left the body, perhaps. But this corpse… it's been dead at least half a year. That makes it tricky…"

"Isn't there any way?" Xiao Wu interrupted, voice tight with urgency.

"Of course there is. Did you forget? I'm the merfolk's once-in-ten-thousand-years genius" the Sea Enchantress smiled again. "This body still contains rich, dormant life force. The soul has a chance of returning. Just stand still, and watch me bring this guy back to life."

She pulled out a bone flute from who-knows-where and gently brought it to her lips. A hauntingly beautiful tune began to echo around the Holy Pillar.

Inside the sound of the flute, Xiao Wu felt a new sense awaken—one that let her truly 'see' and 'touch' the world around her. Every blade of grass, every whisper of air, she felt it all. Tang San, within his spiritual space, suddenly sensed the presence of his body—closer than ever before.

Drawn by an irresistible pull, Tang San's soul broke free from Xiao Wu and flew toward his original body.

Sensing his departure, Xiao Wu stared at Tang San's serene face lying on the ground. Her heart twisted with emotion. She swore to herself, 'San-ge, we'll be together again. When you awaken, I'll stay by your side forever—until the day we grow old together.'

Overcome with feeling, Xiao Wu took a deep breath, flung away her tears, and shouted each word with nearly hoarse desperation.

"Rise—again—my—love!"

Under the Sea Enchantress' melody, countless strands of life and spirit energy surged toward Tang San's body, bursting forth as a pillar of brilliant golden light, wrapping his soul and body in its radiance. In that instant, his soul merged completely with his physical form.

The Sea Enchantress smiled and leapt into the sea, vanishing without a trace.

Moments later, a spark of vitality emerged from Tang San. His eyelids fluttered open as he looked around.

"Xiao Wu… I'm alive?"

"Yes! San-ge, you're really back!" Xiao Wu burst into tears of joy, wiping her eyes as she rushed to his side in tiny steps.

Tang San smiled, trembling as he supported himself up and threw his arms around her.

"Xiao Wu, we can finally be together. From now on, we'll stay together—until the day we grow old."

Xiao Wu embraced his waist tightly.

"Me too, San-ge… always."

Suddenly, Tang San frowned.

"Xiao Wu… what's that pressing against me?"

A mischievous, greasy voice rang in his mind.

"It's me" the voice said. "San-ge, it's Fatty. I've got some sensory awareness in Xiao Wu's mind too. We were pressed a little close, and… I had a physical reaction…"

Tang San staggered back a few steps, his beautiful face flushing dark purple.

'Right… Xiao Wu has fused with Ma Hongjun. She didn't just carry his soul—her body now contains part of his as well. She's not the same Xiao Wu anymore. I may be back to life, but my body… hasn't exactly grown back its male parts yet. Honestly, Xiao Wu is now more manly than I am…'

That thought drained all strength from Tang San. He collapsed to his knees.

'Men don't cry easily,' he had always believed. Since arriving in Douluo Continent, he had never shed a tear. But today, the last wall in his heart finally broke. Fat tears slammed down onto the sand like rain.

'Why? Why must my fate be this cruel? They say good people are rewarded—but why is it that I, a chaste and upright man, always get trampled? Why does everything I want slip away? Why is the whole world against me!'

Though Tang San's heart burned with fury, with Ma Hongjun still inhabiting Xiao Wu's body, all he could do was scream his grievance to the sky.
