In Xiao Wu's memory, Tang San had always been calm and wise. Even when facing failure and setbacks, he never lost heart. When had he ever knelt down and cried like this?
She quickly stepped forward. Although she'd always acted a bit simple around Tang San, she now realized he was rejecting her. Helplessly, she said
"San-ge, as long as there's love between us, what can't you overcome? We've made it through so many trials. Don't give up on yourself now."
Tang San didn't reply. He simply knelt there, muttering to himself repeatedly.
Years ago, back at Shrek Academy, Tang San had still been a pure-hearted boy. He had viewed Xiao Wu as something sacred, not to be touched. Any matter that involved her—whether she started an argument or got injured on the sparring platform—once Tang San saw it, those responsible were marked for death.
But time had changed everything. Tang San had been physiologically castrated. Xiao Wu had fused with Ma Hongjun, the person Tang San loathed most. The tables had turned. If they were together now, Tang San would only suffer humiliation in bed. How could someone as hypocritically self-righteous as him still love Xiao Wu?
Even the greedy, lustful Ma Hongjun realized what was happening. After their battle on the Road of Hell, he knew Tang San's body could no longer be called male. And now he shared partial control of Xiao Wu's body. If Tang San and Xiao Wu got together, wouldn't that mean Ma Hongjun would enjoy it too?
That idea made Ma Hongjun's desire surge uncontrollably. The flames of lust ignited within Xiao Wu's body, and a dim red glow even flickered around her bones.
At that moment, all three were caught in their own desires. Greed, rage, and obsession reached their peaks.
Then a paranoid, madwoman's voice rang out in all of their minds.
"Greed, rage, obsession... three ultimate sins. Aren't you the ones destined to be my chosen? Hahaha… From this moment, you shall be my successors. As long as you complete the divine trials, my godhood as Rakshasa God will be yours! Hahahaha…"
"Rakshasa Trials!"
All three of them froze as their attention was pulled into the voice in their heads.
Tang San immediately cast aside his grief and rage. He stopped crying, pushed himself up on his knees, and turned toward Xiao Wu. The red Seagod mark once on her forehead had vanished completely, replaced by a single black dot.
The black glow appeared abruptly between her brows, releasing a faint stream of dark mist. It had none of the Seagod's righteousness, nor the killing intent of the Death God Domain. It exuded only terrifying malice. The moment it appeared, Xiao Wu, who once looked pure and kind, was instantly consumed by an aura darker than even a fallen Soul Master.
Seeing the divine mark similar to that of the Seagod, the three understood at once—they had been chosen by a god. But clearly, not a benevolent one.
"San-ge, it looks like we've been chosen by a god. If we complete the Seagod's trials… does that mean we can stay together forever?" Xiao Wu asked with hope in her eyes.
"That's right. Judging by what's happening, we've truly become divine candidates" Tang San said, looking at his slender fingers—refined through the Mystic Jade Hand and reshaped by the Blue Silver King's power. "Yu Tianming might have reached the rank of Titled Douluo and even godhood so fast because he received a divine trial too. Now it's our turn."
He paused, then looked at Xiao Wu with gentleness in his voice.
"Xiao Wu, if I become a god—the strongest in the world—then I'll destroy everyone who's ever humiliated or harmed me."
Seeing Tang San's determination return, Xiao Wu's expression softened too, as if imagining their life together as gods.
But in the spiritual space, Ma Hongjun's thoughts were far darker. Having lived with Tang San in Slaughter City for years, he knew Tang San's way—always showing an innocent face to lull the enemy into carelessness, then striking with ruthless hidden weapons.
Ma Hongjun was sure Tang San had already developed the intent to kill. After all, only one Rakshasa God could exist. The fewer candidates, the greater the chances. If only the three of them were chosen, then as long as Tang San killed Xiao Wu, he'd be the sole inheritor…
This thought chilled Ma Hongjun to the core.
Just like in the original tale, Xiao Wu's soul was deeply connected to Tang San after her resurrection. But now, her body had been rebuilt using Yu Tianming's spiritual skull. She was linked even more closely with both Tang San and Ma Hongjun. In order to survive, Ma Hongjun immediately sent a mental message to Tang San.
"San-ge, look at the details of the Rakshasa Trial. It's meant for the three of us to do together. We should focus on how to pass it."
"Oh? I was too caught up emotionally to notice the trial specifics" Tang San smiled faintly, suppressing his murderous intent. He focused on studying the trial's conditions.
At that moment, the Sea Enchantress reappeared from the water. Shaking the droplets from her sea-blue hair, she looked at Tang San and Xiao Wu from a distance.
"I've already resolved your soul-body separation problem. But the Seagod no longer watches over you. If you don't want to get hurt, you should leave Seagod Island as soon as possible."
With a flick of her tail, a wave rose and she disappeared beneath the surface once more.
"San-ge, Xiao Wu, we need to leave Seagod Island" Ma Hongjun said through Xiao Wu's spiritual space. "We're now the Rakshasa God's chosen. This is still the Seagod's domain. We don't want trouble."
"Fatty's right. The Rakshasa mark feels completely opposite from the Seagod's. For safety, we need to get out quickly" Tang San nodded. "But outside this island lies a sea full of soul beasts. The closest island is a hundred miles out. How do we cross that?"
"Easy," Ma Hongjun answered, "I fused soul and body with Xiao Wu. I can use my Evil Fire Phoenix through her. She's basically got a twin spirit body now. I'll just fly us across."
"Alright" Tang San agreed. "Let's go with your plan."
---
The vast sea stretched endlessly beneath the twilight sky. The sun had sunk beneath the waves, and the glow of dusk dyed the surface a brilliant orange.
Black-red feathers sprouted from Xiao Wu's arms, transforming into rooster-like wings. She carried Tang San beneath her feet, smiling as they trailed a line of black-red flame across the sea. Ma Hongjun, controlling her body, began to have other thoughts.
'If I become the Rakshasa God, I can have wealth, women, everything I want. But Tang San's brutal. If he strikes me down during the trial, I won't stand a chance. What if… what if I let him go right now?'
As Ma Hongjun imagined betrayal, the Rakshasa God's manic voice echoed once more.
"Let me share good news. My divine trials were originally passed to Bibi Dong, Pope of Spirit Hall. But I've abandoned her and chosen you instead. She completed eight trials—you only need to finish one to claim my godhood."
"Respected Rakshasa God" Tang San asked quickly, "Why would you choose us to inherit your godhood? Was it simply because of our negative emotions?"
Tang San was no fool. He'd noticed it the moment the Rakshasa God appeared. Greed, wrath, obsession—everyone had them. On a continent this vast, why choose them?
"My godhood isn't passed down through negative emotion alone" the Rakshasa God said slowly. "Your Rakshasa Domain is a mark of power—an embodiment of your malice combined with my divine energy. Because the three of your souls exist in one body and your darkness is united, I abandoned Bibi Dong and chose you instead."
'So that's it' Tang San thought. 'Xiao Wu must've absorbed the Rakshasa Domain through Fatty and me. That's why she qualified. And if my domain is the strongest, then I have the best shot at inheriting the Rakshasa Godhood.'
As these thoughts churned, Ma Hongjun landed on a rocky reef.
Moonlight poured down like silver clouds, painting the sea in shimmering light. The waves were crystal clear, each grain of sand visible beneath the surface. Gentle tides lapped against the stones with soft splashes.
Tang San nodded.
"This place is perfect. Let's begin the Rakshasa Trial here."
Xiao Wu didn't object. Standing firmly on the reef, she sat back-to-back with Tang San. Together, they entered the final Rakshasa Trial—just like the ninth trials of the Seagod and Angel God, they would be tested through the seven emotions and six desires, forced to confront their deepest weaknesses.
As Rakshasa power engulfed them, the moonlit reef vanished. Tang San now stood on the crimson path of Hell Road—the place one reached after surviving 100 battles in Slaughter City.
He lay helpless on the narrow path. Ma Hongjun's eyes were lit with red desire as he looked down on him. Xiao Wu's figure hovered faintly in the air, unable to interfere.
The Rakshasa God's crazed voice boomed from every direction.
"This is the final trial. You will face the greatest weakness in your heart. Pass this, and the Rakshasa Godhood is yours! Hahahaha…"
A terrible premonition surged in Tang San's heart.
Eyes blazing, Ma Hongjun approached.
"The Rakshasa God says I must face my greatest weakness. San-ge… I never thought that weakness would be you."
With that, he leapt onto Tang San, tearing at her clothes like a demon.
Soon, the body of Tang San lay bare, her skin as white as jade, flawless and fragile. Ma Hongjun's lust exploded, and he began panting like a beast.
'What are San-ge and Fatty doing?' Xiao Wu froze in place. Even as a hundred-thousand-year-old soul beast from the Star Dou Forest, she was stunned. She had seen many things, but this… this stunned her.
A terrible feeling rose in her heart.
As Ma Hongjun wiped his greasy face against Tang San's back, he sat up and returned to his senses.
The Road of Hell was lined with boiling blood. Sweat soaked Ma Hongjun's body, his movements clumsy. In his impatience, he ripped off his remaining clothes with a few swings of his thick arms.
...
He had conquered his fear. What he once hesitated to do was now done. His desire had been unleashed completely. From now on, he would hide nothing.
From a third-person view, Tang San saw the crimson liquid flowing between their bodies.
He had known what Ma Hongjun did to him while unconscious—but seeing it happen with his own eyes filled him with burning rage. Every sound blurred—only his heartbeat thundered. His fury soared to new heights.
"Ma Hongjun! You've crossed the line! I swear—I will kill you!!"
Xiao Wu's mind went blank. Every odd moment between Tang San and Fatty suddenly made sense. 'If I hadn't seen this with my own eyes, how would I face San-ge and Fatty again?'
