Chapter 22 - Mhlanga village changes its attitude about Yanga

Yanga couldn't wait any longer and pulled out his jade scroll to check if the battle report for the first wave of the Beast Stampede had been posted, and sure enough, it was there.

He skimmed over the rest of the details, focusing only on the kill counter the tally of how many enemies each participant had taken down.

It was this part that everyone would focus on first, since each kill had its own value, making the kill count even more important.

Remembering that he received 70% of the total value of any beast he killed, Yanga couldn't hide the joy burning in his heart. Lots of money was on its way to him.

Yanga opened the kill counter, and there he was, at the very top. Yanga expected to be at the top of the kill counter, since no one made as much of an impact as he did during the first wave of the beast stampede.

But the actual number of beasts he killed shocked him it was simply higher than his best estimates.

8,478- that is the number. Such a large number would probably shock anyone who saw it, with the large number of participants in the first wave of the Stampede and for Yanga to get so many kills was simply amazing.

Seeing the number of kills he made Yanga could not help himself and stood up and walked out of his tent,

This was too much who could sit still in front of such temptation? Yanga was completely broke, without a single spirit stone to his name, and now a windfall had landed right in his lap.

No one could stay calm in his situation. So, Yanga left his tent and headed toward the management tent, the one set up to handle matters like this.

The young man who gave Yanga the Qi recovery pills before was there, and the moment he saw Yanga, he made his way to him with a smile and greeted him.

"Hello, big brother. First, congratulations on your great achievement it's truly shocking! You should have seen the panic among the members of the procurement squad when your results finally came out; they couldn't believe it. If it weren't for Elder Pina testifying to your correctness, I think they might have called you in to explain yourself. Anyway, I digress. I'm here because Elder Pina told me to find you, and now that I have, I must take you to him. Can you please follow me?''

Yanga Yanga followed the young man into the tent, glancing around as they headed toward Elder Pina. Along the way, Yanga had a chance to chat with him and learn more about him, much like Christina Pina had.

The young man was one of the Pina clan's young talents, working here in an official capacity to gain experience managing clan affairs.

Elder Pina was Jasper Pina, one of the Pina clan's Golden Core elders, and he was the elder in charge of the defenses during this beast stampede.

Jasper Pina looked to be in his early 40s. He had a face that looked younger than he should be, without any resemblance marks on his face, not even a wrinkle. A small tear could not be seen on his face.

Jasper Pina was not a very good-looking man. Everything about him was very precision-oriented. He could cut everything in his piece. Just by looking at him, one could tell Jasper Pina liked cleanliness.

Elder Pina sat in his makeshift office behind a desk while a group made reports to him. When Yanga and the young man walked in, he looked up from his work, signaled for the rest to leave, and told Yanga to see it.

Elder Pina studied Yanga for a long moment. As the silence stretched, Yanga began to feel uneasy, which Elder Pina seemed to notice as a sudden smile crossed his face. "When Elder Hancock first brought you to the village, we were all skeptical. You were so old, and we couldn't understand why he had brought you here. But now… now things are different."

"Your achievements during the first wave of the Beast Stampede speak for themselves. I don't need to say more, but I will tell you this the village elders have taken notice, and your standing has changed," Elder Pina said with a warm smile, gazing at Yanga as though he were a younger member of his own clan.

Although Yanga was much younger than Elder Pina, he had his share of experience and knowledge. One thing was clear: the way Elder Pina looked at him had shifted.

At first, the other members of Mhlanga Village didn't understand why he was there when Yanga first came; he had no cultivation, and he was very old, which puzzled them.

They couldn't figure out why old man Hancock brought Yanga here, but after witnessing his performance during the first wave of the Stampede, their perspective changed. Elder Pina's gaze showed how much had shifted.

Elder Pina smiled as something materialized in his hands a pill bottle, unlike anything he'd seen before. Elder Pina spoke warmly, "This is my gift to you. Your achievement in the first wave of the Stampede was remarkable, and your performance reflects on me as well.

Take this bottle of golden sun pills as both a token of my gratitude and a request. After what you achieved during the first

Now that the second wave is approaching, I'll need your strength, as this time will be different. I want you to take on a leadership role, so please accept this gift from me and use it to boost your strength as much as you can."

Yanga didn't stand on ceremony and accepted the bottle of golden sun pills, even though he wasn't very familiar with them.

He took it with grace, recognizing it as Elder Pina's way of building a connection, and he didn't mind. In this new world, with no one else to rely on, forming a bond with Elder Pina and the Pina clan didn't seem like a bad idea.

When the time came to leave Mhlanga Village, he would need somewhere to call home, a place to return to and Mhlanga Village could be just that for him.

Elder Pina smiled when he saw Yanga accept the bottle of pills. He then picked up a scroll from the table and handed it to him.

This scroll was unlike any other Jade Scroll Yanga had seen before; it was larger, almost the size of a tablet. "This is a gift from the village," Elder Pina explained. "You may choose any technique you like. The Jade Scroll contains many kinds of techniques. Pick one, and it will be sent to your own Jade Scroll for you to learn."

Yanga browsed through the Jade Scroll, looking at many different techniques. There were a lot of them, from sword techniques to Sabee techniques, movement techniques, all kinds of techniques. There were so many that Yanga eventually got overwhelmed, and Elder Pina noticed. He smiled and said to Yanga,

"You're overthinking it. Want some advice from an elder? I watched you in the first wave, and all your skills are top-notch, from your movement to your swordsmanship. You've got no real flaws. The one thing that stands out is how good you are with a bow and arrow. So why not pick a bow technique? I'd suggest the meteorite arrow technique it's perfect for someone with your unique saint physique."

This was the first time Yanga had ever chosen a technique for himself, and with so many options, he felt a bit overwhelmed.

When Elder Pina offered some advice, Yanga accepted without a second thought. After examining the details of the meteorite arrow technique, he couldn't resist it was simple yet perfect for someone with a boundless saint physique, so Yanga chose it.
