At the point in time Ryuji rewound to, Akaza was already outside the time rewind's range, thus unaffected by it.

Akaza's memory also reset to the moment he escaped the time rewind. He was completely unaware of the events that had just transpired. He only knew he was pursuing Ryuji, who had inexplicably vanished, leaving no trace, as if he had disappeared from existence.

Akaza assumed Ryuji had hidden his presence and intended to continue the pursuit. However, as he moved, he was violently thrown back by a powerful force.

This force was the time barrier generated by the Time Rewind Hourglass. Although Akaza was outside the hourglass's direct range, Ryuji's hourglass was still active, creating a time-barrier field.

As long as the hourglass remained active, the barrier would persist, preventing any lifeform outside the field from entering.

Akaza crashed heavily into a tree, his head spinning from the effects of the temporal energy. Forcibly breaking the barrier would have resulted in even more severe repercussions; Akaza would have been annihilated by the temporal currents.

However, a being of Akaza's level was incapable of breaking the time barrier, even Muzan Kibutsuji wouldn't have been able to.

Akaza touched his head, even more puzzled. He reached out, slowly feeling his way forward, and encountered an invisible barrier about ten meters away.

Shortly after his hand made contact, the barrier's energy pulsed again, though much weaker this time. The pulse only repelled Akaza's hands from the barrier, as if actively resisting his touch.

The time barrier was utterly perplexing to Akaza. He had never encountered such a supernatural phenomenon.

Could it have been created by Ryuji? As a delaying tactic? Akaza mentally linked the barrier to Ryuji, finding the connection logical. After all, Ryuji was exceptionally unusual and couldn't be judged by conventional means.

Akaza assumed a fighting stance, preparing to attack and break through the time barrier.

This was an incredibly foolish decision, as the more fiercely he attacked the barrier, the greater the retaliatory force would be.

While Akaza correctly believed Ryuji was involved, the barrier was, in fact, an inherent effect of the activated Time Rewind Hourglass.

"Destructive Death, Annihilation Type!"

Akaza unleashed an incredibly powerful punch, causing the surrounding air to rupture and creating a massive whirlwind. His fist slammed into the time barrier.

The invisible barrier distorted slightly, then a far more powerful recoil surged back through Akaza's fist.

The force instantly reduced his arm to ash, and the damage spread to half his chest, which also turned to ash.
