After the terrifying recoil from the time barrier, Akaza stood stunned, his face etched with disbelief.
He wondered if the force had completely destroyed him, whether regeneration would even be possible.
After a long moment of terror, Akaza slowly regained his composure. He dared not attack the time barrier again.
Akaza had roughly determined that the barrier wasn't actively offensive, only retaliatory. As long as he didn't attack, he would be safe.
Unable to break the barrier, Akaza explored the area, discovering the barrier's immense size, seemingly encompassing the area where Kokushibo was waiting in ambush.
Akaza knew Kokushibo was nearby, not just from the lingering memory of their planned meeting.
"Damn it! That brat used some kind of sorcery to block me!" Akaza was furious. In his anger, he instinctively kicked at the barrier, only to find his foot passing through empty air. He stumbled, nearly falling.
This unexpected result startled Akaza. He reached out to touch the barrier again, only to find it had vanished.
Akaza stepped forward, confirming the barrier's disappearance, and felt a surge of relief.
He sensed the intense battle nearby and immediately rushed towards it at full speed.
The time barrier's disappearance indicated that Ryuji had rewound time to his desired point.
After Ryuji used the Time Rewind Hourglass, it shattered into fragments, then turned to ash, completely dissipating.
Ryuji's incredible artifact, used to save Rengoku, was now gone. He wondered if future missions would offer such powerful items again.
Time resumed at the moment Rengoku's Blooming Flame Undulation was broken. Ryuji stood before Rengoku, prepared to take the blow for him.
Rengoku and Kokushibo were both astonished by Ryuji's sudden appearance. Neither had noticed him approach.
Ryuji saw Kokushibo's incoming attack, a barrage of energy blades with rapidly spinning crescent blades, and swiftly used his Nichirin Blade to destroy them all.
In his Oni form, Ryuji easily countered Kokushibo's Perpetual Night, Lonely: Interminable.
Kokushibo's entire attack ended without posing any threat to Ryuji, who hadn't even moved.
Kokushibo immediately questioned Ryuji. "Who are you?"
As before, Kokushibo was filled with uncertainty about Ryuji's Oni form.
"I am the one who will kill you," Ryuji replied, echoing his previous statement.
"Then you are my enemy! But many have sought my life, and all have fallen by my blade. Your fate will be no different!"
Having not directly clashed with Ryuji, Kokushibo felt no fear, only arrogance.
