Kokushibo, seeing Akaza, questioned him, his words identical to those before the time rewind. However, the situation was drastically different; Rengoku wasn't mortally wounded but still capable of fighting.
"No, that kid is the monster standing before us now," Akaza replied.
Kokushibo looked at Ryuji in his Oni form and yelled, "Useless! You couldn't even handle a single brat! I think it's time to remove you from the Upper Ranks!"
Akaza, though deeply irritated, dared not show it.
"Oh, you're so great, so powerful. Then how come that Flame Hashira is still alive?!" Akaza silently mocked Kokushibo.
Sensing Akaza's thoughts, Kokushibo's face darkened. "If you hadn't failed to restrain that brat, giving him the chance to intervene, that Flame Hashira would already be dead!"
Akaza felt a pang of guilt and quickly explained, "That kid is incredibly strange. He used some method to seal off an area, preventing me from pursuing him."
Kokushibo coldly glared at Akaza, dismissing his words as weak excuses.
"Since you couldn't handle that brat, go deal with the Flame Hashira. Let's see if you're truly incompetent or if that brat is truly that monstrous!" Kokushibo didn't dwell on Akaza's failure; the priority was eliminating Ryuji and Rengoku, then clearing out the remaining, insignificant Demon Slayer Corps members.
Meanwhile, Ryuji, who had saved Rengoku using the Time Rewind Hourglass, didn't receive a mission completion announcement. This clearly indicated that Rengoku's ordeal wasn't over; danger still loomed.
"Ryuji! Is that you?" Rengoku, having regained his breath, asked.
Ryuji's aura was strange, and his voice, hair color, and hair length were different. If not for the familiar clothing and sword at his hip, Rengoku wouldn't have recognized him.
"It's me. But be prepared; I'm not quite myself right now," Ryuji said, turning to Rengoku.
Seeing Ryuji's appearance, Rengoku shuddered, his face filled with terror.
"Now's not the time for shock. What about the others?" Ryuji ignored Rengoku's shock and asked.
Rengoku suppressed his shock. "They've retreated, but they're being pursued by Lower Ranks."
Ryuji was relieved. With Inosuke and Kyōjurō, even if escape was impossible, dealing with Lower Ranks wouldn't be difficult.
