~Alex's POV
Luca's words echoed in my mind long after he said them.
"Go for it, Alex. If you really love Bella, don't let anything hold you back."
It sounded simple when he said it, but nothing about this situation felt simple to me. I sighed, running a hand through my hair as I leaned back in my chair. The weight of my emotions felt like a boulder pressing against my chest.
Love. I had just admitted to Luca that I truly loved Bella, and instead of feeling lighter, it felt like the confession had only tangled me deeper into a web of uncertainty. I had spent so much time denying it, convincing myself that what I felt for her was just attraction, infatuation at best. But no, I loved her. And that terrified me.
Luca studied me with a knowing look. "I get it," he said, taking a sip from his drink. "I am in your shoes now. My mate is human too. It's not easy."
That caught my attention. Luca wasn't the type to talk about his emotions so openly, especially not about his mate.
