The moment he got Elara's number, I could see the sheer happiness radiating off him. It was like the world had suddenly tilted in his favor, and for the first time in a long while, he had a reason to believe in something more than fleeting moments and shallow connections.
I knew that feeling all too well. That intoxicating rush of finally getting a piece of something or someone you've long desired. But seeing it on him? It was different. He looked almost boyish, a stark contrast to his usual composed demeanor. The way he kept glancing down at his phone, thumb hovering over the screen as if he was debating whether to text her right away or wait a little longer, made me chuckle under my breath.
He noticed. "What?" he asked, his voice laced with curiosity and a hint of self-consciousness.
"Nothing," I smirked. "You just look… happy."
"And that's funny to you?" He arched a brow, slipping his phone into his pocket.
"Not funny," I corrected. "Refreshing."
