Hey everyone, with this, there's only one more big Dante adventure left before we reach the point where the canon begins. Of course, I need a few introductory chapters along with some things to accumulate PL, so it will take a while to get to that point, but not too long.
Also, Dante will be a very secondary character in Luffy and the others' story, a kind of person who suddenly appears by chance sometimes.
In those arcs, he'll appear in about three or two; that's it.
The adventure I have planned for now is something that wraps up several characters who appeared previously, as well as some ideas I'd raised. I just hope it doesn't get too long, but I hope it's worth writing, since I'm going to put a lot of effort into this.
Without further ado, continue with the chapter.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Dante's POV
Dante: "I was made for loving you, baby; you were made for loving me, and I can't get enough of you, baby, can you get enough of me?" I could hear my singing as I traveled out to sea, looking at the islands, wondering which one would be the most agreeable to the disaster.
Yamato: "You sing well; I just don't understand what you're saying. Is it an ancient language?" she asked me in her ignorance.
(Note: here he sings in English, and in the world of One Piece they speak in Japanese; that's why those Yamato words)
I just looked at her and said nothing, just kept singing, getting sidetracked in my ramblings. But after a while, I decided to talk to her, but about something else.
Dante: "Tell me, Yamato Oden, what are your hopes for your future?" I asked out of pure curiosity, wanting to know what she was saying.
Yamato: "I..." she said, thinking silently, ignoring the small mockery I made of her. "I want to follow in Oden's footsteps, but I never thought I'd achieve it, so I don't know what to do next." I spoke as if speaking something I'd kept inside for a long time.
Dante: "I see. You might get something when you meet the old man. He may be a grouch, but he's a good guy. Maybe he'll help you, and you'll end up joining his crew like Oden did, but I'll tell you one thing, and it'll only be once." I said, turning completely around and looking her in the eyes. "Don't live someone else's life; live your own. You shouldn't live like Kozuki Oden but like Yamato. That samurai's life had a beginning and an end; you have a different beginning, and by default, you'll have a different end as well. If you live your life like someone else, you'll never have the chance to live your own life."
She remained silent; I just turned around and continued on with the boat. I didn't expect to change his mind with that; it was just advice, but it's better to make up your mind than to say nothing. Just to make him think and not regret his actions in the future.
After looking around, we arrived at an island that looked pleasant and uninhabited; it was perfect.
I left the boat on the shore, got out, and went to look for water and food there. Yamato stood there looking at me, confused.
Dante: "Aren't you going to help me?" I yelled, almost disappearing. That brought him back to reality, causing him to jump out of the boat and follow me.
...
After finding drinking water and catching some fish to cook, we sat around a fire while the food cooked.
I also started making other things for comfort, such as a bed, a table, beach chairs, and so on.
It wasn't too late, but it might be nighttime in a few hours.
I noticed Yamato looking at me as if he wanted to say something but didn't dare.
Dante: "If you want to tell me something, tell me. Don't let yourself get inside; it will germinate and sprout a sour fruit like your doubts."
That gave him a little courage to speak out about what was inside him.
Yamato: "Why are you doing these things? It's as if we're staying here."
Dante: "And it's because we're staying here," I said simply.
Yamato: "Nani," he said, almost shouting. "Weren't we going to see Whitebeard?" he said, almost spitting. I just looked at her, like a fool.
Dante: "Why do you think I'd know where they are? If I had somewhere to be, I wouldn't go there right now."
Yamato: "Why is that?"
Dante: "Because my unborn son, or daughter, is there. I don't know what she is."
She looked at me strangely, as if I were scum.
Yamato: "So you're shirking your responsibilities as a father."
I just ignored her, checking to see if the fish was ready.
Dante: "You think so?" I asked the question out of the blue. I didn't expect her to answer, and she didn't, since she doesn't know me, so she can't be sure of what she's saying; she's just projecting her bad fatherhood onto me because of what she just said.
I may be a bad father, but it's difficult to raise someone with this level of threat and workload, and I'm not as bad a father as Kaido.
Dante: "Think about it for a moment. Do you think Kaido won't come after you?" Whatever thought she had, it shut her up in an instant. "Do you think he doesn't have a way to track you? And if he did, do you think it would cause a conflict with innocent people in the middle?" She said nothing. "Obviously not, especially not in a place where my family is and could be in danger. This guy will follow us no matter what, so it's better to be somewhere prepared and ready; that's why we were on this island."
She looked a little remorseful about what she was saying; I could understand that it never crossed her mind, but I didn't care; that's what adults are for, to calm them down, to bring the brats back down to earth, to bring them back to reality.
Yamato: "And what will we do in the meantime?" I asked, a little self-consciously.
Dante: "It's not obvious," I said, taking a bite of the fish, eating it, bones and all. He used Haki on his throat to keep it from breaking. "Training, all day, every day."
...
And so the days passed; I trained Yaamto to become stronger than she already was. Right now, she was at the level of a normal vice admiral, but this was thanks to her own strength, her race's strength, and her Zoan-type Devil Fruit. She had never trained before; her current level is purely natural.
She didn't have her kanabo to train cuts and techniques, so I gave her my Fusion Sword, which she could barely lift; she could only hold it in the air for about 10 seconds before throwing it to the ground, exhausted.
Just to remind you, the Fusion Sword is like a two-handed sword, only instead of one, you get about 30 in one. The Buster Sword, which is the inspiration for the Fusion Sword, weighs around 45 kg, and that's made of steel, but the sword I have is made of adamantium, much heavier than it should be. In other words, the sword is like a super dumbbell on steroids, and since Yamato doesn't have that level of training, it's difficult for him to lift the sword, not to mention that there are ways to do it.
I can lift it however I want, since for me it's no different than lifting a fork.
I told him he had to make 50 cuts with the sword and he's approved to continue with the next training session. He had begged me if he could use only the main sword to do it, but I refused.
For the first three days, he tried but only managed to make 20 cuts on the third day. In the end, he didn't give up, but he stopped trying. His focus shifted from lifting the sword to increasing his strength, for which he asked me for advice.
I told him about training and technique to be able to lift more weights, the same weights I did.
And so the days went by.
What did I do? Well, I got in too. While Yamato trained, I would sleep or rest, and when she did the same, I would train.
There was a day when we ran into each other training on the same day.
She looked at me and told me she was surprised by how fast and strong I was, remembering my fight against King.
Yamato: "Your level of strength and speed is incredible; for a moment, I thought you'd be as strong as Kaido."
I was doing push-ups with just two fingers.
Dante: "10,987, 10,988." Hearing what she said, I stopped, looked her in the eyes, and said, "I've been training my strength and speed for almost 20 years, and I've almost never stopped. It would be sad if, after all that effort, I wasn't strong and fast."
And it's true, I've been training since I was 9 years old to be the strongest and fastest person in this world. And what bothers me the most is that I haven't achieved it yet. I know Kizaru will always be faster than me, but I feel like I've yet to reach the level of strength that Garp or Whitebeard have. Maybe these are just my impressions, maybe I'm wrong, but the point is that right now I have no way of proving it.
With all this, 7 days passed. I was sitting in a beach chair, wearing sunglasses, shorts, and an open shirt. Yamato was a bit far away; he tried to make 50 slashes, which wasn't a bit far.
Out of nowhere, I felt a sense of unease, only to see the weather getting worse.
I decided to use my Haki to sense the surroundings as far away as possible, only to sense a ship slowly approaching. With that, I knew what would happen.
I felt like an object flying as long as a worm; It was flying rapidly in our direction, bringing the bad weather with it.
Yamato had noticed and rushed over to where I was. Only to realize what was happening, he opened his eyes and mouth but said nothing.
In the distance, a random dragon could be seen flying, only to transform into a man and fall far away from us.
Once the smoke cleared, a large man could be seen standing, staring, more specifically, behind my back, at Yamato.
That man in front of us was Kaido, the strongest beast in the world.
Kaido: "Yamato... you've abandoned your father." He didn't even look at me; he mostly ignored me like dust; his entire attention was on Yamato.
Yamato: "You're no longer my father; a father wouldn't put chains on his son and risk him dying in an explosion!" she said, almost shouting, almost saddened.
The two of them began to argue, completely ignoring me. I felt like a bad foil for a joke.
After a few minutes, I got bored. And with a burst of Haki, I diverted their attention to me.
Only then did Kaido notice me. I could see a silent rage growing in him.
I just stood in front of Yamato and looked him in the eye.
Dante: "Kaido, isn't that right?"
Kaido: "Tuuuu," I could hear his voice filled with hatred for me.
Dante: "First of all, let me tell you that your son, daughter, or whatever she calls herself doesn't matter to me. She's an adult now; she can do whatever she wants. Besides, she's currently under my protection, so if she wants to do something like take me away, she'll have to go through my nose."
Before he could say anything, I spoke again.
Dante: "We're currently living in an era where everyone goes out to sea to fulfill their dreams; each person does it in a different way. Some want to be a pirate king, others a marine, and some just want to help people, and from my point of view, it's illogical that Yamato can't have that same option and you keep her locked away like a princess in distress. So, Kaido, what's your stance on that?"
We both looked at each other as if eye-to-eye. You could see lightning colliding between us. The atmosphere was tense, and neither of us was going to lower our heads.
...
Third-Person POV
On the Beast Pirates' ship, you could see all the Tobiroppo, the All-Stars, Yamato, and, most importantly, Kaido and Dante drinking and laughing like old friends.
Yamato stood in a corner staring at those two, not understanding what was happening. She felt like the universe had changed just to laugh at her.
Dante: "It was so funny. Big Mom tried to stand up, but she fell again, but on Perospero. For a moment, I thought he'd died from taking all that weight on him."
Kaido: "Kuhihihihi," he laughed at what Dante was saying while drinking.
To know how all this happened, you have to go back.
*Transition moment*
The ship King was on was all bandaged; Queen was more bandaged than King; Jack was bandaged only on his head; Sasaki, Black Maria, Ulti, and Page One had reached the island's shore.
Kaido and Dante were still staring at each other, while Yamato had already moved a good distance away.
The beast pirates had wanted to come and watch their boss beat Dante up, all except one, who wanted to capture him and lock him in his room with kairoseki.
Kaido glared at Dante with hatred and rage, but something inside him rethought the words the person in front of him had said.
He shifted his gaze to Yamato, who looked somewhat tired and dirty. He knew she was training, something she had never done on Onigashima.
He could infer that if Dante had taken Yamato under his command, then he had been training her.
A small doubt began to grow in him. Which maybe, just maybe, isn't so bad, since from his point of view, he could take her at any moment and return her to Onigashima. But if he was doing this, and he was getting stronger, then maybe it was a good thing; this way, she could be a good successor and a strong ruler for Wano, and this way, he could get rid of that annoying Orochi more quickly.
(Note: This might make Kaido think a lot, but I feel like he's not stupid. It's just that when he drinks a lot, he doesn't think, besides his suicidal thoughts, about what happens when Whitebeard dies, which hasn't happened yet. But what I'm getting at is that to be someone at this level, and to be the captain of a great pirate band, a man must think and make good decisions, or else he wouldn't be where he is. Also, to keep the plot on its ideal course.)
But the problem was who had her under his arms. For Kaido, this guy was strong enough to make his men look like clowns, but for him, it wasn't enough; It had to be someone close to his level, and that's something he had to check.
Kaido: "Look, brat, if you can hurt me with a single attack, I'll leave Yamato in your care."
Dante just narrowed his eyes; he wasn't sure what Kaido was saying, but if he managed to impress him, maybe he'd do what he said.
Dante: "If you say so."
As he distanced himself, Dante remembered that Kaido had a list of people he admired, and these people were people who could hurt him, so only people like them could train his son.
Kaido: "If you fail to live up to my expectations, I'll break you whole and force you to join my crew." He said with a fierce glare.
Dante: "It's always the same," he said with a sigh.
And as he extended his hand, Murasama appeared out of nowhere. He unsheathed it, revealing its gleaming crimson blade. He grabbed it with both hands and raised it as high as he could.
And with that, a great wave of Conqueror's Haki was unleashed, mostly headed toward the sword.
Kaido tensed as he realized this.
Dante wrapped his sword with Haki, including internal destruction; in the process, he completely transformed into his Angel of Death form.
With a swift movement, Dante was already behind Kaido. No one noticed; only Kaido noticed what he did. But noticing isn't the same as being able to react. Besides, she wanted to receive the attack, so she wasn't prepared to defend or counterattack.
Dante sheathed the Murasama, and the moment he did, a red line appeared diagonally across Kaido's body, and with it, a large jet of blood. Blood also flowed from Kaido's mouth, but he just stood there staring at the horizon as if pondering something.
Kaido turned around to look at the fully transformed Dante, with his wings, armor, and all. A gleam appeared in his eyes.
Kaido: "I like you, brat. Marry my daughter." Nothing was heard for a good few seconds.
Dante detransformed and looked at Kaido, his face puzzled.
Dante: "Wait, what?"
*End of transition*
And so it is. After that, Kaido brought Dante out to drink, and by default, Yamato went too. By the way, Yamato got a kanabo so he could fight and not have to use borrowed weapons.
To get Kaido to give up on the idea of marrying Yamato, Dante had to confess that he was already married, so he couldn't remarry.
Kaido, I'm sorry, but there was nothing else he could do. He just kept drinking, almost forcing Dante to drink with him.
Yamato felt a little uncomfortable, especially because of the situation with Dante, especially Black Maria; she was taking advantage of Dante's drunkenness. At first, Dante ignored her and tried to get away from her, but now that he was out of his depth, he didn't reject Black Maria's advances.
She knew that Dante was married and had a wife and children waiting for him at home. He wanted to intervene, but he didn't want to get too close to Kaido, so he didn't have the courage to go.
If he knew all the circumstances of how Dante got married or the fact that he'd left behind a good number of children littering the world, he'd care less and simply couldn't care less.
And so the night passed until the next day.
Yamato got up early, planning to get out of here as quickly as possible, since being in this situation made him feel like he was still in Kaido's clutches, so he went to look for Dante.
After a few moments, he found him; only the calm that always appeared on his face had vanished; only a face of fear, panic, and regret remained. He was almost naked, wearing only underwear; he was carrying the clothes he had on yesterday.
Yamato realized what Dante was saying: "I don't want any more children," or "Celestia is going to kill me."
The moment they saw each other, Dante practically teleported to where Yamato was.
Dante: "We have to go," he said, taking Yamato's arm as they left the ship. "Don't say a word about what happened here, and next time, don't let me drink any alcohol. When I get drunk, I completely lose my mind and I'm very easily manipulated by others."
She just nodded as they left the boat. Dante dressed quickly and headed for the ship.
Once the two were on board, the boat immediately departed the island.
Dante had already made an agreement with Kaido, so they wouldn't follow them. He would be in charge of training and caring for Yamato for a while, but with the idea that she would eventually be on her own and then return to Onigashima so she could decide what to do for herself.
And so the two set off for Sphinx at top speed, one to meet Whitebeard and the other to get away from a crazy woman who would torment him for months.
(Note: What happened to Dante is somewhat consequential, since Kaido would get him to drink with him, and to avoid trouble with him, he would do it; the rest you can imagine.)
