Nami's POV
Five years have passed since the Holy Land War ended, with our side emerging victorious thanks to my father's sacrifice to the "king" of the World Government.
Many people died in the war; among them were the entire Gorosei, who perished alongside Imu, since his power was what kept them alive. All but one died, and he was killed by Gil during the fight.
All the Holy Knights died; none managed to escape. As for the World Nobles, only 5% of their total population survived. Of those, half ended up in prison, and the other half went into hiding within society. My father's family was among them. They now run a bounty hunting organization, an idea of Dante's that he never acted upon.
Among the Marines, several died, including Akainu. Kisaru and Fujitora survived, as did Kobi and Gil. Sengoku and Tsuru had decided not to participate, and finally, a guy named Kong, who survived, ended up imprisoned alongside that wooden admiral.
The four of them decided to provide cover for the entire world in exchange for each country paying a certain amount of tax; this would fund the organization. There are other things going on, but it's too political, and I'm not interested in that side of the story.
There's also the issue of the World Government, which suffered the same fate. It still exists, but it's not the same as before.
The revolutionaries suffered the most losses; all their commanders and leaders died for their cause, including Sabo. His fight with the Knights of God severely damaged his health; he died shortly after the war ended at Koala's hands. Chopper tried to save him, but it was too late.
Another who died was Dragon, as he was transformed into a demon; Ace and Garp had to stop him. In the end, they had no choice but to kill him, something that severely affected Garp, leaving him with no will to fight anymore, much like what happened to Akainu.
Finally, we have Luffy's fleet, almost all of whom perished; a few survived, including Ace, Yamato, Sai, Leo, and Bartolomeo, who survived purely by luck.
Luffy and the rest of us all survived. Some were more badly injured than others, like Jimbe, who fought Kong alongside Koby, ending up with a large scar on his face and missing an eye.
Usopp suffered a cut that nearly killed him, splitting him in half, but he was saved by Leo at the last minute.
After the war, we took a few months to rest and mourn.
We erected statues in honor of Sabo, Dragon, and Dante. A statue that represents sacrifice and the will to make a difference for the better.
In the end, my father was given a wake, where he was symbolically buried next to his former comrade-in-arms, Arthur.
When I spoke with his other comrades, I learned that they had known this might happen, that he had warned them, so it didn't surprise them, but that didn't lessen the pain.
His passing affected Hancock and Celestia the most. Both suffered severe depression.
Hancock ended up resigning her position as captain and Kuja empress, giving it to Luna, who accepted. She eventually moved to Sphinx to be near Dante's grave.
Celestia experienced something similar, so I had to be surrounded by family and friends to prevent the suicidal thoughts that plagued her for three years.
After all that, we continued our journey.
We faced the redhead and Blackbeard. The latter returned in his final attempt to become king of the world, only to be stopped by a team effort between Luffy and Gil, who together defeated his entire fleet.
After that, we were able to go to the One Piece and fulfill Luffy's dream, all in just over a year.
During the rest of the time, Luffy helped us fulfill our dreams, or at least most of ours.
I managed to create a map of the entire world, which I use to try and locate the All Blue.
Zoro became the world's greatest swordsman.
Sanji got tired of Pudding a year later.
Usopp went to live in Elbath to complete his transformation into a great warrior of the sea, something he said he had to do alone.
Robin was able to figure out what happened in the Void Cycle on her own.
Franky fulfilled his dream when the Thousand Sunny arrived in Lahgutale, traveling the world.
Chopper managed to create an elixir that could stop all diseases but not cure them, so it's still under investigation; he's working on it with Marco and Sulli.
Brook was able to reunite with Laboon.
And finally, Fish-Man Island was able to rise to the surface, thanks to the disappearance of the World Nobles, fulfilling Jinbe's dream.
This is something Gil insisted on along with a few others: to abolish slavery; it wouldn't be tolerated under any circumstances.
Some things couldn't be accomplished, such as Ginny not being able to reunite with her father, since, first of all, he had already died some time ago, and second, Kuma's body was severely damaged, completely destroyed by a meteorite that struck him directly.
Ace's dream is still in progress; he's trying to become more famous than his father; he still has a way to go, but he's almost there.
Yamato's dream was for Wano to open up to the world, just as Oden wanted. From what I understand, it wasn't possible, but there's a date set for it to open someday.
While I was lost in thought, I arrived at my father's grave; I was visiting today.
After watering the flowers and praying that he was alright, wherever he may be, I left, as being there made me quite melancholic.
For the rest of the day, I visited some people on the island. Today was the anniversary of the war, so many people were there. We were taking turns being alone at the grave, at least those who wanted to.
I saw Garp playing with my younger "brothers." I also saw Robin talking with Pudding, Celestia, and Hancock.
Zoro, Sanji, and Ace were talking manly things. Luffy was having an eating contest with Luna, and the others were watching the spectacle.
Trini, Sulli, Isis, Marco, Balesca, and Yamato were chatting in a corner about the crazy things they had done or seen with Dante.
There were some who couldn't make it, sadly, but almost everyone was there.
Finally, I sat down on the beach; Shortly after, someone sat down next to me. I looked at him and almost thought it was my father, but it was just Gil, an exact copy of him; he's practically a clone.
Gil: "I always wondered, were you really the old man's daughter? You always called him 'father.'"
That question left me wondering; from an envelope I always carried with me, I took out a hair. It was the one you had given me to test the genetics a long time ago.
Nami: "You know, he gave me this to find out if it was true or not, but over time, I remembered that family isn't about blood, but about who you choose; I chose him as my father and he accepted me as his daughter, regardless of blood," I said, letting the hair drift away so it could travel across the sea, thus releasing Dante and allowing him to travel peacefully wherever he was.
Gil: "I see, big sister," he said, giving me a smile.
It wasn't necessary to know if he was my real father or not; For me, he was like a father, since he took care of me even though I never saw him. He worried about me even before I met him. He may have made mistakes, but honestly, I forgave him a long time ago.
He will always be in my heart; that's what's important. And above all, he will always be the hero of these people and of me.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That concludes the arc, finally. It's worth noting that people die in war; I'm not like Oda, who's too lenient with killing characters. For a moment, I considered killing off one of the Straw Hats, but in the end, I didn't.
I want to say that this arc felt long to me, since I wanted to create a calm and natural adventure, but consequently, the story progressed very slowly. As the chapters increased, I realized this, especially since I didn't want this story to be a 1000-chapter saga or anything like that, so I changed the pacing. It was a mistake, but I won't make it again, as it led to errors and writing the rest of the story more out of obligation than enjoyment.
Something I'll try to avoid in the next arc. And speaking of that...
I'm taking a week off, since writing these last three chapters took a lot of time and creative thinking. It's put me a bit behind academically, so I need these days to focus on my studies.
I'll also be doing some more research on Fate lore to make sure I don't make any mistakes with the story, terminology, characters, etc.
I'll also be returning to my other fic, just so you know. I don't know how quickly I'll be working on these chapters, but I know I'll be prioritizing the other one a bit more, since I've neglected it for months. I'll try to make it a fic between 100 and 150 chapters. Only time will tell.
The next chapter won't be set in the Fate universe, and you'll see why, but don't worry, they'll be like okame or short stories about Dante's journey in some worlds. Only one won't be like that; that one will be a bit longer.
That's all for now; I hope you enjoyed this part. Greetings.
