Roy had no idea Cordelia had already started looking for friends in the federal government to investigate him, but even if he did, he wouldn't care.
After all, Roy was just a figurehead at the FEA; even Gerald himself couldn't order him around.
Ashley needed to rest, so she wasn't in class today, which made things a lot quieter for Roy.
However, what happened yesterday morning had still led to some rumors spreading around school.
The most ridiculous one was that Roy had cheated on Jennifer with the transfer student Ashley, leading to an accidental pregnancy, which then caused a conflict between Jennifer and Ashley.
Wade swore up and down that he definitely wasn't the one who spread that rumor.
Roy also didn't think Wade was the one, because the rumor seemed to have started with the principal.
Could it be that the principal started it and then it spread to the students?
That old geezer, so nosy!
Of course, the students mostly just gossiped in private; no one had the guts to tease Roy about it to his face.
Then, at the end of the first period, Roy was called to Elizabeth's office again.
Remember our website: 101 Reading Website
Very few students received the kind of treatment Roy did, being called to the beautiful teacher's office every other day. Elizabeth was a very lazy woman and basically never added to her workload.
As soon as he entered, Elizabeth grabbed him and started sniffing him all over again, just like before.
"Hmm, looks like you've already come into contact with that minion of Leviathan."
"You mean..."
"Yes, I forgot to tell you yesterday, I also smelled the aura of Leviathan's minion at school. Now it seems you've already dealt with it, right?"
Roy nodded.
"Took a bit of effort, but yeah, it's taken care of. Ms. Elizabeth, the King of Envy has been making quite a few moves lately. Do you know why?"
Elizabeth stretched out a leg clad in black stockings and rubbed it against Roy's pants. Even with the stockings as a barrier, her toes were still incredibly nimble.
"Hehe, it's not just the King of Envy who's been active; most of the demon lords have been. Hmm—it's just that I'm a bit lazy and don't like getting involved in that kind of thing."
Roy shifted slightly, trying to avoid Elizabeth's mischievous left foot, but the beautiful teacher's legs were too long, making it hard to dodge.
"Why is that?"
"Because God is missing."
This news shocked Roy beyond words. His mouth hung open like it was dislocated, and he even forgot to dodge, so his sensitive area was clamped between Elizabeth's toes.
Having your vitals in an enemy's grasp is definitely dangerous, but thankfully Elizabeth wasn't an enemy, and her toes were truly agile. She could probably play the piano with her toes like Tom.
"Whoa! Ms. Elizabeth, are you serious?"
"Mmhmm, if you don't believe me, you can ask your old flame, Michael."
Roy's expression turned a little strange.
Come to think of it, there hadn't been any news from Isabella for a few months. He wondered how things were going.
Just as Roy was thinking this, he felt Elizabeth's toes start to tighten.
That foot strength could probably snap a regular person in half.
"Are you thinking about that bitch Michael?"
Roy almost forgot that Beryl had been at a disadvantage against Michael before and held a lot of resentment towards her.
"Cough, cough! No, no, I was just thinking about God being missing!"
Elizabeth possessed the power of lies and could tell at a glance that Roy was lying, but she didn't expose him directly. Instead, she wiggled her toes playfully a few times.
"Little Roy, you can feel free to desecrate that bitch Michael's body all you want, but don't you dare fall in love with her!"
Roy could clearly sense the jealousy on Elizabeth's face, although the beautiful teacher quickly masked it.
So, even female demon lords get jealous. But it seemed she didn't care about ordinary people, only rivals of the same level, like Asmodeus or Michael.
The atmosphere seemed to be getting a little weird, so Roy quickly changed the subject.
"Why would the Big Guy upstairs suddenly go missing?"
Elizabeth looked at Roy with a strange expression.
"You actually call him the Big Guy upstairs? Well, that nickname is quite fitting, hahaha..."
The beautiful teacher couldn't help but laugh, and it took a while before she answered Roy's question.
"No one knows what happened. In short, Heaven hasn't seen God's figure for a long time. Because of this, the four archangels have sealed off Heaven, not wanting the news to spread, but Hell found out anyway."
After all, three of the seven demon lords of Hell were fallen angels, and even Elizabeth herself had countless ties to Heaven. This kind of news couldn't be kept secret.
Elizabeth continued to "play" an invisible orchestral instrument with her toes, making Roy very uncomfortable with a ticklish feeling.
"Some folks suspect that the Day of Judgment is approaching, so they want to take a gamble during these final moments."
The three Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Islam, and Judaism) all believe in a final judgment, although their descriptions of it differ.
But it's certain that the Day of Judgment would mean disaster for humanity.
Roy wore a thoughtful expression, and then he felt his belt loop being tugged by Elizabeth's toes.
"Ouch!"
"Little Roy, what do you think?"
Roy spread his hands out.
"What could I possibly think right now? Even if there really is a Day of Judgment, there's nothing I can do about it!"
"Hehe, same here!"
Elizabeth looked like she completely agreed with him and started "playing the piano" again with her toes.
Roy: So, that's why you're just giving up?
Just as he was thinking this, the school bell rang.
"Oh no, class is starting!"
Elizabeth quickly stood up, put on her high heels, and walked out of the office. Roy could only follow behind her with a slight hunch.
That darn woman, teasing him for so long and then just leaving him hanging!
"Little Roy, are you thinking something naughty in your heart?"
"Nothing like that! Ms. Elizabeth, I'm going to use the restroom first!"
Helplessly, Roy had to go to the bathroom to let his "brother" calm down; otherwise, walking into class with a hard-on would be too embarrassing.
Just as Roy was in the bathroom, his mind as still as water and unfazed by anything, thousands of miles away in the suburbs of Miami, a white-robed nun who liked to wear a black blindfold was walking on a path in a dense forest.
Compared to the deep night a month ago, the dense forest in the early morning was much more lively.
Plus, it was April, and the weather was starting to get warmer. The entire Northern Hemisphere had entered the vibrant spring season.
The nun strolled along the shaded path, eventually arriving at a dilapidated little church. Inside, a black-robed nun was kneeling in front of a crucifix, praying silently.
"Michael, have you not figured it out yet?"
The black-robed nun remained silent, which made the white-robed nun a little dissatisfied.
"Michael, I have already met the boy who changed you. His name is Roy Black, isn't it?"
Upon hearing this, the black-robed nun's body suddenly trembled, as if the name had triggered an instinctive reaction.
After a long while, the black-robed nun finally uttered a cold, clear sentence.
"Uriel, you know everything?"
The white-robed nun nodded.
"Yes, I already know that Roy Black is a demon. Is that why you didn't want me to find him? But you can rest assured, I'm not a stubborn fool like Gabriel; I wouldn't attack a righteous demon."
The black-robed nun breathed a small sigh of relief. She didn't know if she was relieved because the real secret hadn't been discovered or because the white-robed nun hadn't chosen to attack Roy Black.
As an angel, honesty was an important virtue, but the black-robed nun instinctively wanted to hide that secret.
"Uriel, I have ultimately made a mistake and must confess in this church."
The white-robed nun looked at Michael with a disappointed expression, as if scolding a child.
"Michael, now is not the time for confession! If you want to confess, you'll have plenty of time to do so after you return to Heaven! The human world is undergoing tremendous changes, changes that fill me with fear! Just recently, Mammon almost descended to the human realm in his true form! If we don't do something, the human world will become a second Hell!"
The black-robed nun had arrived in the human world earlier than the white-robed nun, so she naturally understood what the other angel was saying.
After a long silence, the sense of justice in the black-robed nun's heart finally made her choose.
"Alright, we should indeed do something, but as you should be able to sense, my power is waning, and my time is likely running out."
The four archangels had sealed off Heaven and agreed to take turns descending to the human world to clean up demons, with only one angel present in the human realm at any given time.
Originally, Uriel was supposed to descend after some time, but because Michael had suddenly lost contact, the church had performed the descent ritual ahead of schedule.
And Michael was already nearing the end of her descent period. Because of Roy, her power had weakened significantly, so she could only hide in this small church to spend her final days.
Uriel could also see that Michael was in poor condition.
"I know this. I will help you find a way."
"Then, how will we explain things to Heaven?"
Michael stood up and turned to look at Uriel.
"Heaven... must undergo some changes! Michael, what do you think?"
Michael remained silent. She was a warrior and not as eloquent as Uriel.
"I don't know."
Michael sighed and turned her head to gaze into the distance. The direction she was looking in was exactly where Texas was located.
Time quickly came to noon, and Roy's phone suddenly rang.
At this moment, Roy was having lunch with Jennifer, Niddy, and Nancy.
He picked up his phone and glanced at it, noticing an unfamiliar number.
Could it be a telemarketing scam?
America also had telemarketing scams, and eighty percent of the people involved in the industry were Indians, making India America's Myanmar in this regard.
However, Roy still answered the phone. What if it was something important?
"Hello, who is this?"
"Hello, Mr. Black, this is Bartholomew from Amalgamated Technologies."
Roy raised an eyebrow. He hadn't expected Gerald to mention yesterday that Amalgamated might cause trouble, and today they were already calling him directly. That was fast!
"Where did you get my phone number?"
Bartholomew's slightly smug voice came from the other end of the line.
"In America, there's nothing Amalgamated wants to investigate that it can't find out."
Heh, this old guy is pretty arrogant!
Roy had heard Gerald mention Bartholomew. This person was the COO, or Chief Operating Officer, of Amalgamated Technologies and a confidant of the current Chairman and CEO, Genevieve Aristide.
This woman usually dealt with the federal government or handled public relations matters and had a very domineering style.
Gerald had suffered losses because of Bartholomew, so upon hearing that Amalgamated had made a mistake, he was determined to go after her, even if it meant enforcing the law across state lines.
Roy hated it when someone was more arrogant than him.
"Ms. Bartholomew, as far as I know, investigating federal agents is illegal. Who gave you the authority to investigate me?"
There was a sudden pause on the other end of the phone.
This matter could be considered minor or major, but if Roy seized this opportunity to make trouble for Bartholomew, she would be in a lot of trouble.
After all, Bartholomew was just a civilian. What was she thinking, privately investigating a government employee, and a federal agent at that? Was she trying to be a spy?
"Cough, cough! Mr. Black, this is a misunderstanding! I have already obtained authorization from the FEA before contacting you!"
Upon hearing this, Roy's expression became playful.
When Bartholomew said she had obtained authorization, it must have been from someone in the FEA's Los Angeles branch.
Gerald definitely wouldn't have authorized it. So who could it be?
America's intelligence agencies sounded very impressive, but they were all infiltrated by capitalists like sieves.
The president in the White House often didn't even know about many things, while the heads of these giant corporations received the news in advance.
Roy clicked his tongue.
"Ms. Bartholomew, then what can I do for you?"
"Mr. Black, I would like to speak with you in person about what happened in Nevada two weeks ago. I was wondering if you have some time?"
"No, I'm still having lunch at school. Call me again in the afternoon."
With that, Roy hung up the phone.
Freaking out!
Roy didn't believe that Amalgamated couldn't find out he was a student. Why would they call him at this time?
Jennifer looked at Roy with some surprise.
"Roy, who was that on the phone?"
"Some nutjob!"
Roy then dialed Gerald's number and told him about the mole within the agency.
Gerald was furious after hearing this. He knew that his control over the Los Angeles branch wasn't absolute, so it was normal for his subordinates to have some ulterior motives.
However, someone daring to cooperate with Amalgamated was unacceptable to Gerald. After all, the agents in the Los Angeles branch all knew about his conflict with Bartholomew.
That day in the secret base outside Los Angeles, many agents had witnessed Gerald's direct confrontation with Bartholomew.
This kind of behavior simply didn't put Gerald, the director, in their eyes.
"Mr. Black, rest assured, I will thoroughly investigate who this traitorous bastard is!"
Gerald on the other end of the phone hung up with gritted teeth.
