Chapter 228 - 228 Charlotte family, coming!

At this moment, the Kamui Pirates were about to encounter a most unfortunate group: the main army of the Charlotte Family, led by Katakuri!

They had been sent by Big Mom herself, ordered to head toward Whitebeard's territory to see if they could take advantage of the chaos and profit like fishermen in troubled waters.

Anyone could see that sooner or later, the two Yonko, Kronos and Whitebeard, would break out into full-scale war.

It was just a matter of time.

There was already deep animosity between the two.

And after the battle of Fishman Island, where Whitebeard completely lost face, that feud could only grow worse.

As one of the veteran Yonko, how could Whitebeard simply swallow such humiliation?

Furthermore…

The incident of Fishman Island being taken by Kronos enraged Whitebeard even more, pushing him toward war.

If he did nothing, Whitebeard wouldn't be worthy of the title "The Strongest Man in the World"—he'd be nothing more than a coward.

For a Yonko to maintain their position in the New World, reputation was indispensable.

Once that reputation collapsed, it would be a devastating blow—not just to the crew's morale, but to their very survival.

How many great pirate crews had fallen apart because they lost the trust of their followers?

Charlotte Linlin knew Whitebeard's personality very well. After all, they had once been crewmates on Rocks D. Xebec's ship.

They were old acquaintances.

They'd known each other for decades.

How could Big Mom not know what this "old friend" was thinking?

Just like Shanks, Whitebeard had his own bottom line: no one was allowed to harm his crew.

But Kronos, either pretending not to know or outright ignoring this, kept provoking Whitebeard again and again.

The result, naturally, was to drive the world's strongest man into a rage—a rage that could lead to anything.

When two tigers fight, one must die.

Big Mom couldn't wait for those two to clash.

Then…

She could sit back and reap the rewards.

Why wouldn't she take the chance?

If everything went according to plan, the Charlotte Family could soon become the strongest pirate force in the world.

Just thinking about it thrilled Big Mom.

Not long ago, Charlotte Linlin had given her order:

Let Katakuri, her most capable son, lead the main forces to Honeycomb Island and see if they could seize the opportunity.

However—

What Big Mom didn't know was that Katakuri, the commander of this operation, was deeply uneasy.

In his heart, he didn't actually support this plan at all.

For the sake of the Charlotte Family's interests, Katakuri naturally disliked Kronos and even hoped someone would eventually eliminate him.

But there was one truth Katakuri couldn't deny:

Whether it was Kronos himself or the members of his Kamui Pirates, they were all terrifyingly strong.

A crew full of monsters.

Katakuri knew very well that several of Kronos' subordinates possessed power comparable to a Marine Admiral.

And Kronos himself?

His strength was more than enough to rival Big Mom.

If those two Yonko truly fought, who would win… even Katakuri couldn't say.

But what frustrated Katakuri most was the simple fact that even if he refused, his mother would just send someone else to carry out the mission.

Katakuri knew his mother too well.

He understood exactly what kind of person Big Mom was.

To put it nicely, she was a careerist, determined to dominate the seas.

To put it bluntly, she was someone who wouldn't hesitate to throw her own children into the flames to achieve her goals.

Now, once again, she was pushing her family toward unprecedented danger.
