Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Do Not Bully Little Zhi Liao

Her room had an independent bathroom, an independent balcony, and even an independent walk-in closet.

After putting her clothes in the wardrobe, Lu Xingzhi lay down on the sofa. She wasn't really tired, just unsure of what to do.

When she heard the knock on the door, Lu Xingzhi realized she had fallen asleep at some point.

"Uncle, is there something you need?" Lu Xingzhi opened the door to find Huo Jincheng standing outside.

"Come down and have dinner."

"Okay."

After dinner, Huo Jincheng said, "Get a good night's sleep tonight. Tomorrow morning, we'll go visit Grandpa, alright? He's eager to see you."

"Okay." Such a simple request, she couldn't find a reason to refuse.

She couldn't tell if it was just her imagination, but she always felt the butler looked at her with a hint of disdain and contempt.

However, Lu Xingzhi didn't care.

Such an excellent man like Huo Jincheng ought to be paired with a woman of equal family background and appearance.

But she had intercepted halfway, perhaps making many women hate her already.

A good night's sleep.

The next morning, Lu Xingzhi got up.

After breakfast, Huo Jincheng took her to the old house in the Capital City.

Upon entering the gate, they saw an elderly man trimming the flowers and plants.

"Grandpa, I brought Zhi Zhi over to see you."

Only then did Huo Qiyuan turn around. Seeing Lu Xingzhi beside Huo Jincheng, his face wrinkled up with a smile, "This must be Little Zhi Liao! Come over, let Grandpa have a look."

"Hello, Grandpa Huo." Lu Xingzhi walked over and politely greeted him.

Huo Qiyuan pretended to be displeased, "Why call me Grandpa Huo, it sounds so distant for family. Just drop the 'Huo' and call me Grandpa."

"Grandpa." Lu Xingzhi, feeling good about the kind-hearted Mr. Huo, went along with him.

The old man then beamed, "Good child! Don't stand at the door, come inside to talk!"

Huo Qiyuan asked Lu Xingzhi about her grandfather and about her life in recent years.

He couldn't help feeling bittersweet and pitiful for this child, "Little Zhi Liao, it's all Grandpa's fault. Had I seen your grandfather's letter earlier, I would have come to get you sooner."

"No, no, don't say that. I've been doing quite well, truly." Lu Xingzhi didn't feel she had suffered as much, seeing his guilty eyes, she felt a bit helpless.

She had no choice but to look to Huo Jincheng for help.

"Grandpa, everything will be fine from now on. That kind of life has already ended." Huo Jincheng handed Huo Qiyuan a cup of tea. "If you act like this, Zhi Zhi will think she did something wrong."

"Right, right, Little Zhi Liao, you just settle in here. Tell Grandpa if you need anything."

Lu Xingzhi thought they truly were family; Huo Jincheng and Grandpa talked in very similar ways.

"Okay." She said obediently.

They had lunch at Huo Qiyuan's place, chatted with the elderly man for a while, and then left.

Before leaving, Huo Qiyuan specially instructed Huo Jincheng, "Jincheng, you take good care of Little Zhi Liao, don't bully her, don't neglect her, understand?"

"I will."

Though he trusted his grandson's character, he still said to Lu Xingzhi, "Little Zhi Liao, if Jincheng bullies you, you tell Grandpa, I'll deal with him for you. Rest assured, Grandpa will be your solid backing."
