"Serves you right." Robert Stephens looked at him. "Lacking ability, and trying to imitate wrongdoing, caught red-handed, still having the face to cry."
With tears in his eyes, George Stephens said, "Dad hit me."
He was extremely aggrieved.
Robert extended his hand, touching George's swollen cheek with his pale cool fingertips, and slightly furrowed his brow.
Edward Stephens hadn't been gentle; the swelling might not go down for a week.
"Have someone apply a warm compress later," he said. "Tonight was a lesson."
George was infuriated, unwilling to accept it, "It was clearly that awful woman's fault, why did Dad hit me?"
Robert eyed him, and said coldly, "Because you're stupid."
George didn't expect him to offer no comfort, but instead to mock his intelligence. Angrily, he pushed him away and jumped down from his arms.
