The food was barely touched; she had taken just a tiny bit of rice from her bowl. Even a bird might eat more than she did, right?
"I'm full."
Iris Harris nodded.
Seeing Brandan Hyde looking displeased, Iris thought he might be unhappy because his cooking was neglected. She explained again, "I just don't have much of an appetite right now. I'll eat more once I feel better."
"Hmm."
The man responded with a sound, not pursuing the matter further.
Iris breathed a slight sigh of relief, then saw Brandan reach over, take her chopsticks, and casually finish off the food she'd left in her bowl.
Iris: "..."
"What's wrong?"
"..." Iris hesitated, uncertain whether to ask him if he hadn't eaten yet or if he hadn't brought chopsticks.
Brandan looked at her conflicted, shy face and swallowed a mouthful of rice, saying lightly, "I haven't had breakfast yet."
"Oh..."
"Besides, what haven't I eaten of yours?" he said, holding the chopsticks in his mouth and glancing at her. "Why so shy?"
