Chapter 2 - Chapter 001 The So-Called Beloved

September, the start of the school year.

In the dormitory, Su Wan was woken up by a rhythmic phone ringtone—not an alarm, but a call. Just as she was reaching out from under the covers to find her phone, she heard Yao Ye's slightly angry voice from the bed next to hers, "Damn! Five-thirty! Who's so lacking in morals!"

Then she heard Su Wan's leisurely voice: "Xu Chengyang…"

Her mind still in a state of haze, Su Wan accidentally pressed the speaker button. The next moment, a surging and passionate voice exploded in the dormitory, disrupting the morning peace: "Wanwan! Long time no see, I miss you so much! I'm on the bus now! Tell Yao Ye! You guys will see me as soon as you wake up!"

On the first night back to school, Yao Ye unsurprisingly suffered from insomnia, tossing and turning until three in the morning before falling asleep. She planned to sleep until naturally waking up this morning, but was now woken up by Xu Chengyang's inappropriate call. Her anger flared up instantly. Without waiting for Su Wan to speak, Yao Ye snatched the phone, full of righteous indignation, "Xu Chengyang, if you were in front of me right now, I'd definitely kill you!"

"..."

Yes, Su Wan always thought Xu Chengyang was the only lively spirit in their dormitory.

The next time she woke up, it was already broad daylight. Sunlight streamed generously through the curtains onto the ceramic-tiled floor of the dormitory, casting a faint glow in mid-air.

Today was the day for returning students to register. Three years ago, Su Wan was admitted to the Yanchuan University Affiliated Music College with excellent grades. This year is her fourth year in college, nearing graduation. Besides the graduation thesis and the graduation performance, the most important thing is the internship.

After getting ready, Su Wan carried her "big baby" and went out with Yao Ye.

"My head..." Yao Ye was still struggling to recover from the effects of insomnia. She raised her hand to rub her temples, speaking coldly, "Tonight, I really must have a 'face-to-face talk' with Xu Chengyang!"

"...Ye Ye, impulsiveness is the devil," Su Wan gently patted Yao Ye's head, smiling slightly.

Looking at Su Wan's harmless face, Yao Ye shook her head, laughing, "Wanwan, sometimes I really wish I were a man…"

Thinking for a moment, Su Wan said, "Then I'd definitely marry you."

Hearing this, Yao Ye hooked her arm around Su Wan's neck and energetically pinched her delicate and fair cheeks, "For that sentence! Let's go! I'll buy you breakfast!"

...

By the time they arrived at the department after breakfast, it was already half-past ten, the busiest time. Yao Ye knew Su Wan had to go out to teach in the afternoon, so she hurriedly dragged her to the counselor to get their registration stamped, marking the completion of the registration process.

As it approached noon, the temperature rose higher, and with the entire building full of people, by the time they emerged, both were drenched with sweat. Yao Ye gulped down some mineral water, panting heavily, "Everyone came at this time! It would've been better to wait for Xu Chengyang to come back!"

Su Wan wiped the sweat from her forehead and silently nodded.

"Su Wan—"

A familiar male voice came from beside them, and both instinctively looked over.

Gu Ming was dressed in casual attire, looking radiant.

Seeing the person, Yao Ye nudged Su Wan with her shoulder, covering her mouth and secretly laughing, "Your admirer."

Su Wan ignored her, nodding slightly in greeting, "Senior Brother Gu."

Gu Ming, a second-year graduate student in the piano department. Sunny and handsome, with excellent grades, and according to Xu Chengyang, he seemed to be the heir of a certain company—a typical rich second-generation.

In the eyes of others, perhaps Gu Ming is a rare exemplary man, but in Su Wan's eyes... well... he's just like an ordinary person.

Gu Ming, full of spring joy, asked her with a smile, "Have you finished registering?"

After two months of not seeing each other over the summer break, his heart still beat with excitement upon seeing Su Wan again.

Today, she wore a cream-colored pleated strap dress, revealing her collarbones and smooth white shoulders. On her feet were a pair of delicate strap sandals, the skirt wide, with her slender ankles faintly visible beneath. She had her hair tied up in a ponytail, the loose strands at her forehead casually tucked behind her ears. Her cheeks were flushed from the heat, and her long eyelashes fluttered with every blink. Her lips curled slightly in a smile, dimples faintly visible on her cheeks.

"Hmm…" Su Wan lowered her head, tugging at Yao Ye's sleeve, hinting for her to say something.

After three years as roommates, Yao Ye understood her tacitly, "Ahem... senior, if there's nothing else, we'll take our leave!"

Seeing his crush about to leave, Gu Ming subconsciously grabbed the strap of her cello case on her shoulder, "Wait..."

Su Wan turned her head to look at his hand holding the strap, her eyelids lifting slightly as she glanced at him, her eyes full of indifferent emotions.

Meeting her gaze, Gu Ming panicked inwardly and immediately let go, asking, "Are you going to teach today?"
