Chapter 349 - Chapter 349: Genetic Pokémon

Chapter 349: Genetic Pokémon

~Third POV~

[Kanto Region, Days Later, Pallet Town – Oak's Lab]

The crisp, autumn breath of Kanto air felt invigorating, but Azure wasn't lingering to enjoy it. At sixteen, his five years of relentless training and 3 uncontested League victories felt like a distant prologue to his current goals.

Currently, he was playing with his new Pokémon that hatched a few days ago with the others in the lake with the other Water Type Pokémon. The new Pokémon Azure obtained was Skrelp, the Mock Kelp Pokémon.

He checked his Arc Phone, reading its data as it was playing happily with Lapras. He smirked, reading its info.

[Skrelp the Mock Kelp Pokémon. Skrelp is a poor swimmer and gets easily washed away by storms. Skrelp rides seaweed as a form of traveling through the ocean. It camouflages itself as the seaweed to hide from enemies while storing power for Evolution.

It also uses this technique to hide from prey, which it sprays with liquid poison when approached. However, its main source of food is rotten seaweed, which it uses to create its poison. Skrelp is known to coexist well with Dhelmise.]

|Name: Skrelp (Mock Kelp Pokémon)

|Type: Water/Poison

|Level: 5

|Gender: Male

|Held Item: None

|Ability: Adaptability (Hidden Ability)

|Nature: Relaxed

|Moves: Smokescreen, Acid, Tackle, Venom Drench (IM), Acid Armor (EM) (3 Moves left to learn)

Playing with his Pokémon Azure took him time to relax. Azure turned his attention back to Kanto's mysteries.

Rumors filtered through the local settlements over the past few days when he returned, whispering of an apex predator dwelling deep within the labyrinthine passages of Cerulean Cave—a Pokémon of unimaginable psychic might, yet one that seemed confused and prone to violent outbursts.

Azure knew exactly who the monster was. Mewtwo.

He recalled the documented events of the Pokémon Adventures world: Blaine, freed from the corruption of Mewtwo's cells thanks to Entei's purifying Sacred Fire, had inadvertently ripped the connection to the powerful creature.

The process had scrubbed Mewtwo's memories clean, leaving a terrifying, untethered force hiding in the deepest recesses of the cave system, its power unchecked by consciousness or purpose.

This was not a challenge for the faint of heart, nor for a standard rotation. This required the A-Team, the Kanto lineup that had seen him through his first League win and many impossible odds since.

Azure stood before his Poké Balls rested on the table, his expression steely. He muttered calmly, eyes hardened, "This isn't a sparring match. This is a confrontation with a force of nature. We stick to the plan."

He activated the transfer system, confirming his roster: Shiny Gengar, the spectral terror; Scizor, the steel-plated speedster; Arcanine, the loyal flame; his two constant partners, Pikachu and Eevee; and the anchor, Dragonite, clutching the specialized '[Dragoninite]' Mega Stone, ready for its ultimate transformation.

With his team secured and his resolve hardened, Azure donned his jacket and adjusted the Mega Glove on his wrist. He departed for Cerulean City, the entrance to the cave looming like a gaping maw ready to swallow the light.

[Kanto Region, Later, Cerulean Cave]

The air inside Cerulean Cave was thick with humidity and the faint, metallic scent of ozone. Azure surfed across the subterranean lake, the water black and chilling, with Pikachu guiding the way using Surf.

Eevee curled securely on his head, their ears twitching at the pervasive silence. They navigated the twisting paths, the only sound the gentle displaced water underneath them, giving them a sense of ease.

Finally, they reached the deepest island—a jagged spire of rock rising from the cavern pool. And there it was.

Mewtwo.

It stood motionless, a ghostly shadow bathed in the reflected glow of the water like a forgotten god carved from pale stone. Its imposing frame, usually a symbol of cold intellect, now radiated a raw, aimless hostility.

As Azure's making landfall, Mewtwo's large eyes snapped open, blazing with purple malice. It didn't hesitate.

With a soundless surge of psychic energy, it launched itself forward, letting out a jarring, guttural roar that echoed through the cavern, "GRAOOO!!!"

Azure commanded, his voice sharp and clear, refusing to yield to the pressure, "Gengar, time to lead!"

*Pop*

The Shiny Gengar emerged in a flash of black and red, its wide, malicious grin fixed on the incoming Legendary. It cackled, preparing an attack, "Gengar!! (One Strong Style Shadow Ball coming up!!)"

*CACKLE*

It launched a Shadow Ball…

*CLANG*

… but the projectile merely dissipated against an invisible barrier that shimmered around Mewtwo's form. Mewtwo retaliated with a terrifying blast of Psychic.

*SHIII*

Gengar shrieked, the attack catching it full force, crushing its spectral body into the rock face, "GENGAR!! (OH SHIT!)"

*Thud*

The Shadow Pokémon fell limp, retreating instantly into the protection of its Ball before Azure even needed to call it back. Gritting his teeth, he grabbed his next choice, "Damn! Just one hit? Scizor, break the barrier! Bullet Punch!"

*Pop*

Scizor materialized, a blur of crimson chitin. It was fast…

*Zooom*

… but Mewtwo was faster. Before the technician could initiate its attack sequence, Mewtwo spun, unleashing an Aura Sphere charged with blinding intensity.

*KA-BOOOOM*

The attack detonated on Scizor's chest plate. The bug/steel type was thrown backward, skittering across the cavern floor until it collapsed, paralyzed by the sheer power of the blow of single blow, uttering, "Sci! (The fuck...!!!)"

*Thud*

Scizor fainted shortly after taking an unrestrained Aura Sphere. Azure grimaced, the speed of defeat stunning. Gengar and Scizor, two cornerstones of his competitive strategy, were down in seconds.

Recalling Scizor, he hurled his next choice confidently, commanding, "Arcanine, Extreme Speed! Keep it moving!"

*Pop*

Arcanine burst forth, flames licking its fur, a brilliant flash of orange against the dark stone. It charged with legendary speed, but Mewtwo didn't bother using a barrier this time.

*Zoooom*

Just inches away as Arcanine pounced using Extreme Speed…

*Swf*

It simply teleported out of the path, reappearing directly above the Fire-type. A concentrated sphere of Water Pulse struck Arcanine's spine, short-circuiting its momentum.

*SPLASH*

*BOOOOOM*

It whimpered, defeated, the scent of wet fur filling the air. Azure's eyes narrowed as he thought, 'Is this what Red faced when he battled Mewtwo? No… this one is probably even stronger than before when Red first met it!'

This wasn't merely power; it was surgical lethality. Recalling his Arcanine Azure commanded fiercely, "Eevee! Use Wish, then switch out! We need to keep the momentum!"

*Zooom*

Eevee darted forward, its brown fur bristling with determination. It glowed faintly, initiating Wish, but Mewtwo intercepted the move before the healing energy could take effect.

*BOOOM*

A focused Confusion attack lifted Eevee into the air and smashed it against the ceiling, ending the attempt immediately. Azure could only swallow, recalling her thinking, '… I think we might be fucked.'

[Kanto Region, Meanwhile, Pallet Town – Oak's Lab]

Meanwhile, in the sunny, peaceful setting of Pallet Town, a sense of unease had begun to settle. Red, the Gym Leader of Viridian City, stood near the front porch of Professor Oak's lab, his face slightly flushed with hopeful anticipation.

Beside him, Yellow, the sensitive and kind Trainer from Viridian Forest, hovered nervously. Red asked, tapping his foot, "I figured Azure would be back now, right, Yellow? He owes me a rematch. That guy's gotten too strong."

Daisy Oak, Professor Oak's cheerful granddaughter, emerged from the lab, watering can in hand. She greeted them kindly in a friendly voice, "Oh, hello, Red! Yellow! You just missed him, dear. He just left a few minutes ago."

Red asked, deflating slightly, "Missed him? Where did he go?"

Daisy adjusted her straw hat as she explained casually to them in a lighthearted tone, "Azure left early this morning. He seemed very focused. He was checking his Mega Stones and stocking up on Ultra Balls."

Yellow murmured, her brow furrowed with concern, "Ultra Balls? Was he going to catch a rare Pokémon?"

Daisy tilted her head thoughtfully. Then, remembering she had explained to them, "Well, he mentioned something about a powerful, wild Pokémon in Cerulean Cave. He said it was called Mewtwo."

The name landed like a hammer blow. Red froze, his easy posture dissolving into rigid alarm. Red's voice was laced with genuine concern, "Mewtwo? No, no, no, Daisy, Azure has to come back!"

He knew Mewtwo. He knew the sheer, terrifying, world-breaking power it wielded. He had fought that monster when it was stable and controlled; facing an amnesiac, rage-filled version was suicide.

Daisy offered helpfully, oblivious to Red's rising panic, "He took his Kanto team. His Gengar and Dragonite, and of course, Pikachu."

Red shook his head vehemently, addressing the main concern, "None of that matters! If it's the Mewtwo I know, nothing is enough!"

Yellow placed a calming hand on Red's arm, but her eyes were equally wide with worry. They knew Azure was formidable, stronger than Red himself, but Mewtwo defied conventional understanding of power.

If a restrained one that didn't know the world, Red managed to handle. But an unrestrained Mewtwo fully unleashing its destructive power… even Red wouldn't be sure in defeating, much less surviving, the encounter…

/////

[Kanto Region, Meanwhile, Cerulean Cave]

Back in the chilling darkness of Cerulean Cave, Red's fears were rapidly manifesting into grim reality. Azure stood alone on the rock, surrounded by the shadows of four defeated teammates. Only Pikachu and the yet-unused Dragonite remained.

Azure yelled, the sound of his voice echoing his defiance, "Pikachu, let's show him why we don't back down!"

Pikachu responded instantly, a golden blur leaping forward. Azure ordered calmly, "Strong Style Iron Tail!"

*SHINNG*

The metallic sheen of Pikachu's tail whipped toward Mewtwo's head. But Mewtwo merely extended a hand, catching the solidified tail between two fingers with casual ease.

*Flick*

With a flick of its wrist, the electric mouse was tossed back, slamming hard at Azure's feet. Pikachu shook off the blow, sparks crackling around its cheeks.

Azure's eyes narrowed as he ordered, "Extreme Speed, now!"

*ZOOOOM*

Pikachu dashed forward, a streak of unparalleled velocity. Mewtwo prepared a Psychic barrier in advance.

*Shiii*

Pikachu knew the opening, planting a foot hard and substituting the speed with raw force. And then landing a surprising Mega Kick that struck the Legendary Pokémon's torso.

*SMASH*

Mewtwo recoiled, momentarily stunned by the unexpected physical blow. But Azure didn't allow it a chance to counter roaring, "Thunderbolt!"

*ZZZZZT*

The surge of electricity engulfed Mewtwo, crackling violently against its psychic shield. Mewtwo scoffed, the energy barely irritating it, and countered with a powerful, concentrated Shadow Ball, throwing the ghostly energy directly at Pikachu.

*CACKLE*

The resulting collision threw Pikachu violently against a jagged stone ledge. Azure dashed forward, catching his partner just before impact, shielding him from the worst of the momentum…

*CACKLE*

Mewtwo, perceiving the pause as weakness, launched a pair of massive Shadow Balls, aimed to finish the battle. Azure shouted, "We aren't done! Pikachu Double Team, then Zippy Zap!"

*Swooosh*

Dozens of Pikachu images shimmered into existence, rushing toward Mewtwo in a blinding swarm. Mewtwo used its psychic powers to instantly discern the real one and blocked its advance…

But the real Pikachu wasn't aiming to hit; it was aiming to create an opening!

Azure grinned as he ordered, "Strong Style Pika Papow!"

*ZZZZZZT*

A massive, sparkling bolt of concentrated electric energy erupted from Pikachu, overwhelming Mewtwo's shields. Mewtwo staggered slightly, truly annoyed now, and grabbed the genuine Pikachu mid-attack, neutralizing the momentum before tossing the weakened rodent aside like debris.

*THUD*

Pikachu scrambled back up, refusing to accept defeat. Its body ignited in a furious, crackling aura. Azure ordered, "Strong Style Volt Tackle, maximum output!"

*ZOOOOM*

Pikachu became a self-propelled missile of electric fury. Mewtwo, however, anticipated the brute force, erecting a thick, shimmering Barrier field.

*THUD*

The impact was deafening, the lightning illuminating the cavern, but when the dust cleared, Mewtwo stood unscathed, the Barrier having absorbed every ounce of the attack. Mewtwo decided to end the fight.

*CRACKLE*

It charged an enormous, pitch-black Shadow Ball, larger than any Azure had ever witnessed, designed to obliterate the electric pest. Azure knew this was the end of the line for Pikachu. This was the moment for the ultimate gambit.

Azure muttered, facing the unrestrained Mewtwo with grim determination, "It's just us now, buddy. Let's give it everything."

Pikachu leapt forward, its defiance radiating intensity. Azure focused, channeling the energy into his Z-Ring as he roared, "Let's show him our bond! Pikachu! Z-Move! 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt!!"

*CRACKLE*

Pikachu roared, channeling every spark of its being into the attack. A colossal, multicolored torrent of electricity erupted, colliding head-on with Mewtwo's horrifying Shadow Ball. The Z-Move, empowered by the intense bond between Trainer and Pokémon, overpowered the destructive energy, piercing through the dark orb and striking Mewtwo directly.

*BOOOOOM*

Mewtwo shuddered, momentarily stunned by the sheer, unexpected raw power. But even that was not enough…

*Shiii*

Using the brief staggering pause, Mewtwo activated Recover. The wounds knitted instantly, and with a quick, decisive strike—a razor-sharp blast of focused Psystrike—Pikachu was knocked out cold.

Azure carefully recalled his beloved partner, whispering kindly, "You gave it everything, buddy. Rest now."

He was left with one last chance. He hurled his Poké Ball, declaring, "Dragonite! It's time! It's all up to you!!"

*Pop*

The massive orange Dragonite erupted from its Poké Ball, already cloaked in the raw power of the [Dragoninite] Mega Stone that hung around its neck. Dragonite, a massive, stalwart presence, roared, "DRAOOO!!!"

*PEW*

Then instantly, it unleashes a potent emerald beam. Mewtwo immediately threw up Barrier, an invisible wall of force that shattered the Dragon Pulse into harmless sparks.

*CLANG*

Before Dragonite could recover, Mewtwo hit it with a blindingly fast Swift, the star-shaped projectiles tearing into the Dragon-type's thick hide, forcing it to stagger.

*SHIII*

*BOOOM*

*BOOOOM*

Dragonite steadied itself, its eyes burning with loyalty. It charged, closing the distance with incredible speed, aiming a powerful Dragon Claw.

*Shiii*

Mewtwo merely raised a hand. The attack halted mid-air, Dragonite struggling against the invisible, crushing force of the Psychic-type's will…

*Swooosh*

*SLAM*

With a contemptuous flick, Mewtwo slammed the Dragon Pokémon down, then used its psychic energy to throw both Dragonite and Azure clear off the isle and into the deep, churning waters below.

*SPLASH*

The cold shock swallowed Azure whole, the impact knocking the air from his lungs. He sank rapidly, the weight of his defeat heavy on his heart. His team was decimated. He had failed. Mewtwo was too much.

Azure sank rapidly, the weight of his clothes and equipment dragging him down into the lightless abyss. The frigid water shocked him, and for a terrifying moment, despair—a cold, consuming void—threatened to swallow his resolve.

A voice whispered in his mind, his consciousness flickering, 'This is it; you finally met a wall you couldn't climb.'

As he drifted into the black depths, his eyes found his partner, sinking beside him. Dragonite was battered, its wings waterlogged, but its eyes—usually gentle and playful—were now blazing with a raw, unshakable resolve.

It was fighting the water, fighting the defeat, fighting for him. That look—that pure, uncompromising determination—was a jolt of electricity more potent than Pikachu's Z-Move that sent through his body.

Even underwater, the Dragon Pokémon's eyes were pools of determined, fiery loyalty. Dragonite looked at him, not with fear, but with an unwavering promise, 'We continue. No matter what! No matter the enemy we face!!'

Hope reignited in Azure's chest, burning away the doubt. He kicked hard, swimming toward his partner, the current pulling at his limbs.

When he reached Dragonite, they exchanged a mutual nod—a silent contract forged in five years of hardship. Azure grit his teeth as he thought defiantly, 'No. Not defeated. Not while Dragonite still stands. Not while we're still kicking…!!'

Azure kicked hard, fighting the current, swimming toward his partner. When he reached Dragonite, he pressed his hand firmly against the '[Dragoninite]' Mega Stone clutched in the Pokémon's claw.

Azure mouthed through the water, "You ready, old friend?"

Dragonite gave a powerful, encouraging nod.

Azure slammed his hand down on the activation key of his Mega Glove. The moment the connection finalized, a blinding torrent of multicolored light erupted from the stone. The energy didn't just illuminate the water; it pushed it away.

*SHIII*

*BURST*

A violent, draconic storm brewed beneath the surface. Water was displaced violently, rushing upwards in a massive geyser. Emerging from the spray was a form utterly unlike the soft, teddy-bear shape of a normal Dragonite.

Mega Dragonite.

Its body was sleeker, harder, wrapped in diamond-tough scales. Its usually small wings were replaced by vast, angelic, six-feathered structures that shone white-gold. Its tail ended in a shimmering, rainbow-colored pearl, radiating an aura of ancient power.

*Fwp*

Its eyes were fierce, and its roar shook the cavern walls, announcing its existence to the shocked Mewtwo, "DRAAOO!!! (Round 2!!)"

*Thud*

They were back on the island in an instant, Mega Dragonite's wings beating against the humid air. Azure's grin was strained but genuine as he roared, "We're not defeated yet, Mewtwo! Dragonite! Strong Style! Hyper Beam!"

*SHIIII*

The Mega Evolution had unlocked reserves of strength Azure hadn't known existed. Dragonite inhaled deeply, and the resulting attack was not the usual dull, orange-yellow energy beam that began to charge in 2 locations...

*PEW*

This Hyper Beam was a roaring column of light-blue power, radiating violently from its mouth and the pearl on its tail. Mewtwo, stunned by the sudden, unprecedented transformation and noticeable power increase, raised its psychic shield in the final millisecond.

*KRA-KOOM*

The impact was catastrophic. The Hyper Beam didn't just strike the barrier; it punched through it, connecting with Mewtwo's torso in a furious explosion of raw energy.

The Legendary Pokémon was hurled back, skidding across the rock, visibly damaged and forced to kneel for the first time. Azure could hear his heart race...

*Bdmp*

Azure seized the opportunity, his heart hammering in his chest. Grabbing an Ultra Ball, he hurled it, "Now! Ultra Ball!"

*Bonk*

He flung the ball with practiced precision. It struck Mewtwo's head, sucking the Genetic Pokémon into the containment field. The Ultra Ball hit the ground, shaking violently—once, twice...

*Wiggle*

*Niggle*

*CRACK*

Burst.

The metal exploded outward as Mewtwo broke free, roaring in a ferocious, almost primal rage, "GRAOOOO!!!!"

The light-blue damage from the Hyper Beam still glowed faintly on its chest. Mewtwo charged energy, launching a barrage of Swift stars, now propelled with enough force to pierce Mega Dragonite's defenses.

*BOOOM*

*BOOOOM*

*BOOOOOM*

Mega Dragonite met the attack with its enormous, reinforced wings, deflecting many of the projectiles, though the impact still caused the Pokémon to grunt. Azure yelled, "Extreme Speed! Punish its rage!"

*ZOOOOOM*

Dragonite vanished, reappearing instantly to strike Mewtwo's flank. Mewtwo tried desperately to evade using Teleport, flickering between locations, but Mega Dragonite's speed was terrifyingly amplified.

*Swf*

*Zoooom*

*Swf*

*Zoooom*

It dodged once, twice, but the bombardment of blindingly fast Extreme Speed attacks soon became too much. Then, when Mewtwo thought it was safe, it turned to see the looming figure of Mega Dragonite already punching at supersonic speeds to the face.

*BAM*

*SMASH*

*BASH*

*CRACK*

Azure's tactics shifted. Now that Mewtwo was distracted by constant physical assault, the psychic defense was fractured.

Azure ordered remaining calm during the brutal battle ahead, "Dragon Claw attack! Keep it close, Dragonite!"

*SHINNG*

Mega Dragonite roared, pressing the advantage. Repeated Dragon Claws hammered the Legendary, forcing Mewtwo to fight desperately just to keep its focus intact.

Watching the flurry of attacks, Azure saw not just his current powerhouse, but the proud, newly captured Dratini he had nurtured years ago—the one who couldn't fly, who was proud and strong, yet followed him everywhere. He saw the progression, the growth, the unwavering spirit that had led them both to this moment.

Azure thought, feeling a swell of profound pride, 'Look how far we've come. You are everything I could have ever hoped for.'

The time for subtlety was over. It was time for the decisive finish. Azure yelled, his voice raw with effort and emotion, "One last time, Dragonite! Focus everything into one final blow! STRONG STYLE MEGA PUNCH!!!"

*ZOOOOOM*

Mega Dragonite answered with a savage, triumphant roar. Its massive fist began to glow with intense yellow energy, channeling the accumulated power and rage of the fight. It bypassed Mewtwo's flailing arms and delivered a sickening, thunderous blow directly to the Legendary Pokémon's torso.

*BOOOOOOOM*

The sound echoed like a sonic boom. Mewtwo's body flew backward, crashing straight into a massive stalagmite, the impact fracturing the rock.

*THUD*

Mewtwo slid down the stalagmite, conscious, its pale body shaking violently, but barely able to remain upright. The rage was replaced by exhaustion and a dawning respect as it regained some clarity, thought, 'This Trainer, and this Dragon, had pushed me to my absolute limits.'

This was the chance. There would be no second failure. Azure reached into his pack and retrieved the Master Ball, yelling, "Go! Master Ball!"

*BONK*

He threw the ball with desperate finality. It opened, emitting a beam of emerald energy that instantly enveloped the crippled Legendary Pokémon.

Mewtwo fought silently for one last moment, but the Master Ball's absolute capture mechanism was relentless, especially against a target that was physically and mentally shattered…

The ball slammed onto the cracked ground.

*THWUMP*

It shook violently for an eternity…

*THWUMP*

Azure's heartbeat, seeing it move…

*THWUMP*

Then, the shaking stopped. A soft, conclusive click signaled the victory.

*BON*

Azure stood panting, his body trembling with the adrenaline crash. He rushed forward, picking up the Master Ball, his fingers tracing the smooth, cool metal.

He whispered, a wave of relief washing over him so potent it nearly buckled his knees, "We did it."

Mega Dragonite let out a final, soaring roar of triumph, "Draooo!! (Fuck yeah, we did!)"

*Shiii*

The angelic wings folded, the light blue energy faded, and the Pokémon slowly reverted to its normal, familiar, soft-skinned form. Exhausted, it lumbered toward Azure.

Azure used his Viridian Force to heal Dragonite and himself. But he also took out his Arc Phone, reading Mewtwo's bio and status.

[Mewtwo, the Genetic Pokémon. Mewtwo is an artificial Pokémon. According to journals found in Kanto's Pokémon Mansion, after discovering the Mythical Pokémon Mew and gathering some of its DNA, Mr. Fuji/Blaine used it in his mansion to create Mewtwo, a modified clone of Mew to make it the most powerful Pokémon of all.

It was held and studied in the mansion, where it acquired extreme power and a vicious disposition after enduring horrific gene-splicing experiments. It eventually broke free and fled the Mansion, destroying it in the process.

It is widely known as one of the most powerful Pokémon in existence and is said to have the most savage heart among all Pokémon, lacking compassion and striking fear into its enemies with cold, glowing eyes.

Mewtwo conserves energy by remaining motionless to unleash its full power in battle. Because it was engineered to be the ultimate opponent in battle, it can only think of defeating its foes. Though rarely seen in the wild, it is said to be resting in dark caves somewhere.

Mewtwo are capable of levitation, mind control, memory erasure, telepathy, teleporting others to another location, and creating powerful storms. But it is shown to be caring, protective, and even altruistic. Mewtwo can also transfer a human's soul into a Pokémon's body, provided that said Pokémon is in a crazed state, causing this person to gain control of the Pokémon's body and abilities. It possesses a rivalry with Mew. Mewtwo can breathe in outer space.]

Azure blinked, reading down the list of moves as he pondered, 'The hell? Where is Mewtwo's move limit?!'

Azure looked carefully at Mewtwo's long list of moves. Then he realized, as he pondered, startled, 'No fucking way… when Giovanni had Mewtwo created… they made this Legendary to have no Move Limits. Meaning it can have as many moves as possible… suppose that's expected, as it was made from the DNA of Mew.'

Azure dropped the Master Ball back into his pack and rushed toward his partner, throwing his arms around Dragonite's neck, praising her greatly, "You were incredible, Dragonite! You saved us! You won!"

The great Dragon Pokémon responded by bumping its snout affectionately against Azure's jacket, its job complete. In the silent, echoing cavern, only the sound of their shared celebration remained—a young Trainer and his greatest partner, victorious over the most formidable challenge of their partnership.

As the echoes of their victory faded, a flicker of light caught Azure's eye. He looked down at the site where Mewtwo had been defeated, half-submerged in the water near the shattered stalagmite…

Two distinct, shimmering stones lay reflecting the cave's dim light. Azure recognized them immediately as he murmured, "Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y. [Observe]!"

[Item: Mewtwonite X

He chuckled, picking them up. He mused, tucking the stones safely away, "Well, that's certainly an unexpected bonus prize for dealing with a memory-wiped legend. Looks like we have a new partner, Dragonite. And a whole lot of power to manage."

The mysteries of this strange new world never ceased to amaze him. But for now, he had a new legend among his partners, and the knowledge that with Dragonite, he truly was capable of anything.
