Chapter 24 - Future Priorities

Kaiji sat with the paper and ink before him. He inwardly reassured himself.

Aside from the fact that members of the Genin Corps were used as canon fodder, there was nothing inherently bad about the department.

Though, he acknowledged, that was a significant truth.

He first wrote down the things he wouldn't focus on until the Third Shinobi World War started.

The first item was Genjutsu. He wasn't very good at it, and after two months of continuous practice, he had barely managed to learn the basic E-rank Genjutsu.

Though he decided not to neglect his regular meditation.

The second item was Puppetry arts of Sunagakure. He genuinely had little interest in this field.

Then, he began writing down the things he would focus on from now on.

First, he wrote Medical Ninjutsu.

Since his chakra control was good, he believed it wouldn't be difficult for him to learn that.

Then he wrote Fuinjutsu.

Although he believed that both Iryo Ninjutsu and Fuinjutsu in Sunagakure wouldn't be as prominent or advanced as Konoha's, they would still be sufficient for his use.

Next in list he wrote Ninjutsu.

As an official Genin, he could now freely enter the Ninja Library Archive and learn any desired Jutsu from there.

However, there was a restriction; he could only take scrolls for Jutsus up to D-rank. For C-rank and higher, he would need special permission.

'I can't be sure that my Chakra Affinity is Wind, or only Wind,' Kaiji thought.

'And learning all elemental Ninjutsu would be beneficial for me.'

He planned to learn about all 5 nature chakra affinities, which would help him in the future.

After all, any shinobi could learn Ninjutsu of all nature affinities, regardless of whether they possessed an affinity for them or not.

The only difficulty was that learning a Ninjutsu of a nature for which a shinobi didn't possess an affinity was much harder and more difficult than learning one for which they did.

Kaiji, like all trainees at the Academy, could use wind nature jutsu. So now, even if he didn't technically have an affinity for it, he could use wind nature easily.

However, that couldn't be said for other affinities like Fire, Earth, Water, and Lightning.

Then Kaiji wrote Kenjutsu. He was genuinely interested in learning Swordsmanship.

Once he completed missions and tasks and earned enough money, he would buy a sword.

He would have to practice himself, as the village wouldn't provide him with an instructor for teaching Kenjutsu.

After Kenjutsu, he wrote down Sensory abilities.

Reflecting on Sensory abilities, he considered Sage Mode.

'Sage Mode after mastering Senjutsu can help me enhance my sensory abilities,' he thought, 'but I couldn't be able to learn Senjutsu before the Third Shinobi War begins.'

Sensory prowess also came with innate talent aside from Senjutsu training.

For a common individual like him, there were only some general exercises to enhance his sensory prowess, which still might not result in much overall improvement.

"Well," he said softly, addressing his list, "if village has some kind training regarding it, I might focus on that, otherwise I will wait until I learn Sage mode somehow."

He thought about the difficulty of learning Sage Mode. It wasn't easy. And who was going to give him a Summoning contract to one of the three sage regions?

Jiraiya? Tsunade? Orochimaru? He dismissed the thought of Orochimaru; he wouldn't even want to meet him unless absolutely necessary.

But the remaining two wouldn't give him a contract for their summons even in the future.

He was a shinobi of Sunagakure. They wouldn't choose to give their Summoning contract to anyone other than a Konoha shinobi.

Jiraiya definitely wasn't going to give him the Toad's Summoning contract.

While Tsunade might give her Slug's contract if he offered her a large amount of money, he didn't think he would be able to collect enough to appease Tsunade even if he met her, anyway.

He sighed and shook his head. "I will think about Senjutsu if I survive Third Shinobi War," he said.

After all, learning Sage Mode would take time, and time was something he didn't have much of remaining.

The clock was ticking. With every moment, the start of the Third Shinobi War could begin anytime.

Maybe even sooner than expected, as there was never a proper date given for when it started in the anime.

The only thing he knew was that Sasori killed the Third Kazekage when he was around 15 or 16.

And currently, Sasori had turned 16 a few weeks ago. Finding out his age wasn't difficult for Kaiji, since he was the grandson of Elder Chiyo.

And this was what scared Kaiji the most. Since Sasori was already 16, if things unfolded as stated in the anime, he might kill Satei anytime within this year.

Kaiji might not even have the six months he had assumed he had before the Third Shinobi War began.

He shook his head again. Then he wrote the last thing he needed to focus on. 'Taijutsu.'

Kaiji currently believed that his loss against Ryu in the Taijutsu spar during the graduation exam was the main reason he hadn't been assigned to a team.

This was true in some sense. However, Kaiji needed an advanced style of Taijutsu; the basic style he had already learned in the Academy wasn't sufficient for significant improvement.

He mused to himself, "But which one? Does Sunagakure have any?"
