Scarlett's POV.
I never expected to see him there.
The music suddenly felt too loud, bass vibrating through the walls of the penthouse like a second heartbeat, but the world dimmed the second my eyes locked on Ace Knight's.
He stood by the front door, dressed in a black linen shirt, two buttons undone, sleeves rolled and paired with tailored beige pants that somehow made him look more dangerous than when he wore a suit. His presence sliced through the crowd like a scalpel; quiet, precise and impossible to ignore.
"Great, he's coming this way." Joshua muttered as Ace began taking purposeful steps towards us, each step closer felt like a warning. I didn't know if Joshua could feel the tension rolling off him, but his hand that hung loosely around my waist dropped at his sides just before Ace halted in front of us.
"CEO, what an honor. Welcome." Joshua greeted, taking Ace's hand in a firm grip.
