Chapter 185 - Chapter 185: O5 Council Riots! Dusk-Level Cognitohazard!

There were no explosions, no secret weapons, and no world-ending announcements.

Just a single, short sentence—and it was enough to stun the entire Marvel world.

SCP-2719.

A simple project number, yet it carried a weight that sent a chill through every agency, hero, and villain watching the live feed.

Even James, seated in front of the secure terminal, looked puzzled. The designation sounded familiar, but he couldn't recall why. Frowning, he clicked the link below to access the classified file.

And then, something strange happened.

The moment he clicked in, the project number began to flicker and twist, transforming into a chaotic jumble of letters and numbers. The "Object Class" column glitched, showing an error message in red.

[Object Class: Critical Error at D09E2AD9: HANDLE_NOT_FOUND]

The entire live broadcast chat froze in confusion.

> "What the hell? Is the file broken?"

"Why's it flashing like that?"

"Is this part of the SCP's containment method?"

"Did James just trigger something he shouldn't have?"

No one had ever seen an SCP file behave like this.

Still, James's curiosity got the better of him. He hesitated, then clicked again to open it fully.

Immediately, more text appeared on the screen. The first line alone made everyone hold their breath.

---

[Special Containment Procedures: SCP-[REDACTED] is a DAMMERUNG-class cognitohazard. All personnel, regardless of clearance level, must NOT be exposed to this document's contents under ANY circumstances.]

[This warning cannot be dismissed without Dusk-level authorization.]

[If you have opened this file by accident, close it immediately and clear your browsing history. No disciplinary action will be applied.]

---

The agents at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters went silent.

Natasha Romanoff frowned. "Did I just read that right? Doomsday-class cognitohazard? Why was James allowed to open this?"

Even Nick Fury looked unsettled, his single eye narrowing. "No way the Overseers would make a mistake like that. It's got to be a security bluff—to scare off unauthorized users."

Natasha crossed her arms, unconvinced. "You think this is just a scare tactic?"

Fury exhaled slowly. "It better be."

But neither of them looked confident.

Back at the terminal, James stared at the flickering warning.

His instincts told him to close it immediately. But the message from the O5 Council—with Level 5 clearance—had explicitly instructed him to open this exact project.

After a moment's hesitation, he continued scrolling.

---

[Since its creation, only the Special Containment Procedures section of this file has been edited. The rest cannot be altered or deleted due to the permissions of the original author and anomalous restrictions.]

[Access restrictions cannot be reliably enforced.]

[Notify support immediately. Your workstation is contaminated with Dusk-level cognitohazard. Turn off your monitor and undergo amnestic treatment.]

---

James's expression darkened. Even the Overseers can't delete it?

It wasn't just a warning—it was an admission of helplessness.

The chat exploded again.

> "Holy crap, it says the Overseers can't modify it!"

"This isn't just a security measure—this file is alive!"

"James, close it! CLOSE IT!"

But before anyone could react, the file's next section appeared.

---

[Containment Breach Triggers:]

– Exposure to any part of the document, regardless of duration.

– Failure to close within 18 seconds after exposure without Dusk-level clearance.

[Notify the Containment Breach Department immediately. Await MTF response.]

---

James hesitated, his hand hovering over the mouse. And then—the screen went black.

When the image returned, the feed had changed. The camera now showed the O5 Council Chamber, its members obscured in shadows.

There were only four Overseers present—O5-1, O5-2, O5-10, and O5-13.

O5-2 was the first to speak, her voice sharp.

"I still don't agree with exposing James to SCP-2719. The risk is unacceptable."

"Risk?" O5-13 replied with a scoff. "All he can see are a few lines of text and a diagram. What could possibly happen?"

O5-2 shot back, "If it's that harmless, why involve him at all?"

13 crossed his arms. "Because if he can't understand it, then we lose nothing. But if he can—then maybe he can do what O5-4 did before he ascended."

The word ascended sent ripples through the room.

Even through the distorted visuals, the audience could feel the tension rise.

Ascended… through SCP-2719?

Did that mean it could grant godhood?

---

At Stark Tower, Tony Stark blinked in disbelief.

"Wait, they just said O5-4 ascended to godhood? Using this SCP?"

Rhodey scratched his chin. "Sounds like the file lets someone access… higher planes of existence?"

Tony cursed. "So they want James to do the same thing? To 'ascend'?"

"Maybe. Or maybe," Rhodey replied grimly, "this is just a test."

---

Back in the Council chamber, the argument escalated.

Suddenly, the door burst open, and O5-7 stormed in, her voice trembling with fury.

"What did you idiots do?!"

O5-1 stood quickly. "Seven, calm down. We're discussing James's exposure to SCP-2719—"

"SCP-2719?!" she screamed. "Then why did I just receive an emergency alert for SCP-2718?!"

Her words hit the room like a bomb.

Every Overseer froze.

O5-13 stammered, "That can't be! It was supposed to be 2719! The interface—someone must have switched the file!"

O5-7 slammed her hands on the table. "I don't care how it happened! Do you remember what's written in 2718? It's a Doomsday-level cognitohazard! You've just exposed him to the most dangerous file in Foundation history!"

A deathly silence filled the room.

O5-2 swallowed hard. "D-Doomsday class…"

Then chaos erupted.

---

In the live chat, the world collectively lost its mind.

> "WHAT?! They opened 2718 by mistake?!"

"He's been exposed to the wrong SCP!"

"This isn't a drill—James is contaminated!"

"DUSK-LEVEL cognition hazard?! That means total mental collapse!"

Even Natasha's composure cracked.

"Please tell me this is a simulation," she muttered.

Nick Fury's jaw tightened. "They can't make mistakes like this… unless something interfered."

---

At that moment, the feed split into two.

One channel showed O5-1, O5-7, and O5-10 heading toward Site-17.

The other displayed O5-2 and O5-13 rushing to the operations center.

They found a horrifying sight: a dead woman lying across a desk, a bullet hole clean through her forehead.

The room's air was heavy with static. And the corpse… looked exactly like O5-13.

O5-13 stared at the body—her own protector clone, assassinated. Her voice dropped to a whisper.

"Someone killed my double…"

O5-2's hands trembled as he picked up a card from the table. His pupils shrank when he saw the symbol.

"The Black Queen. Damn it."

---

At S.H.I.E.L.D., Fury froze.

"Black Queen… that means the Chaos Insurgency is inside the Council itself."

Natasha's eyes widened. "Then the file switch wasn't an accident—it was sabotage."

The truth hit everyone at once.

This wasn't a mistake. It was an infiltration.

Someone had intentionally made James open SCP-2718.

And that meant one thing:

He was now viewing a file capable of erasing reality itself.

---

As the Council scrambled to contain the disaster, the perspective shifted back to James.

He had no idea that his simple click had thrown the O5 Council into chaos.

The screen flickered again, displaying a new attachment: "DAMMERUNG_EYES_ONLY."

He clicked it.

---

[Agent Directive: The containment breach has been mostly controlled by automated systems. To finalize containment, restart your terminal.]

[You are granted temporary administrator privileges. Improve the containment procedure by any means necessary—but do NOT expose yourself to the description section.]

[Cognitohazard Minister – END OF TRANSMISSION.]

---

James exhaled slowly, eyes narrowing.

His instincts screamed that something was horribly wrong.

The terminal began typing on its own.

Lines of text appeared without his input, as if the system itself was alive.

His pulse quickened.

The room lights dimmed, and the glow of the monitor painted his face in cold blue light.

Then, without warning, new paragraphs began appearing automatically.

Every keystroke felt like a heartbeat, every line a whisper from something not human.

When James's eyes fell upon the next sentence, his pupils dilated.

Whatever was written there—it was enough to shake him to his core.

---

The O5 Council was in panic. The world held its breath.

Somewhere deep beneath reality, something old and unspeakable began to awaken.

And James…

had already seen too much.
