She stared at the grey clouds, then back at the fire.
"I'll make sure to protect you, even if it costs me my life."
The night passed quickly. Veyla sat by the fire most of it, until she dozed off as well.
Riven woke up and noticed he was in the tent instead of by the fire where he remembered resting.
'What the hell happened, why does my head hurt like it was bumped on a stone?'
He groaned and stood up from the leaf sheet Veyla spread out to use as a makeshift bed. Then he stepped out of the tent, staggering from the unknown body pains.
As soon as he opened the tent, he noticed Veyla sleeping peacefully by the almost burnt-out fire.
"Huh, so she took over."
He smiled a bit and walked up to her, bent over and carried her up in his arms. 'She's lighter than I thought she'd be.'
Then he took her into the tent and laid her in, making sure she was comfortable enough before he walked out.
