Accompanied by bursts of thunder, several thick bolts of lightning fell from the dark clouds like the whips of gods. They crashed down on Jean's head. The energy shield formed by the power of the Phoenix blocked them. They transformed into countless electric currents that surged and dissipated outwards. The electricity landed on the ground and the buildings that had not yet completely collapsed. It exploded into countless sparks.
Seeing that these ordinary thunders could not do anything to Jean, Sebastian pointed his magic wand at the Eye of Thunder in the sky. The thunder in the dark clouds quickly gathered into the Eye of Thunder. In an instant the sky was no longer filled with the roar of thunder. Instead it fell into a strange heavy silence.
Seeing the scene in the sky, Jean's face showed a solemn expression for the first time. Behind her the illusory flames continued to rise. They gradually transformed into an illusory flaming phoenix. It spread its wings and enveloped Jean. At this moment a blazing white light fell from the Eye of Thunder. It arrived in an instant. It landed on the phoenix's shadow.
A dazzling flash of light vanished. Then came a deafening roar. A raging electrical current like a vast blanketing net spread out in all directions. It shattered everything in its path. The explosive energy erupted in a storm. It forced Tony and the others to retreat backwards. They barely managed to withstand the aftermath of the magic.
Sebastian stood on the ground. He gazed at the vast sunken pit ahead.
A phantom flame slowly rose from the pit. It expanded like a growing fire. A naked female figure emerged from the flames. It quickly revealed Jean.
Even Jean had suffered the overwhelming blow of the previous spell. Her body was nearly annihilated completely.
However under the life force of the Phoenix Force, Jean as the host possessed a near-immortal quality. In an instant her body was reborn. It was restored to its original form.
However this time Jean did not continue facing Sebastian in her human form. Her body quickly merged once again with the illusory flames of the Phoenix Force. Simultaneously those illusory flames grew increasingly vigorous and powerful. They gradually transformed from illusion into substance. They formed a swirling vortex of flames. Finally the vortex suddenly expanded. It transformed into a gigantic fire phoenix hovering in mid-air. It looked down upon Sebastian below.
"Shriek!"
With a high-pitched cry, the fire phoenix unleashed a stream of tangible flames at Sebastian.
This flame was no ordinary flame. Rather it was the materialized energy of the Phoenix Force. It rivaled even the flames of hell itself. Sebastian could not allow himself to be tainted by even a trace of such a terrifying substance.
Bang!
Sebastian's body instantly exploded into a cloud of black smoke. His true form transformed into a black smoke serpent. It constantly danced and teleported in mid-air. It twirled and twisted around the fire phoenix.
Buzz!
Buzz!
Buzz...
Deadly yellow-green flames shot out from the black smoke. They shot towards the fire phoenix in all directions.
However as soon as these yellow-green flames approached the Fire Phoenix, they instantly exploded under the interference of the Phoenix Force. They caused no damage to the Fire Phoenix at all.
"Tsk, it seems that to counter this form of the Phoenix Force, besides the Killing Curse, I must draw upon the power of my Hell Authority."
Sebastian muttered to himself. The mark of Hell Authority immediately appeared between his brows. His authority as a Hell Lord caused his eyes to turn completely black and red. An endless stream of Hell's power surged from Sebastian's body. He opened his mouth and directly spewed a massive torrent of Hellfire. This Hellfire quickly condensed. It formed a massive flaming demon. It roared and rushed towards the Fire Phoenix.
The Hell Authority was no less powerful than the Phoenix Force.
Its fire was enough to rival the flames generated by the Phoenix Force.
A skeleton demon blazing with black and red hellfire swung its weapons. It unleashed a torrent of molten iron. The molten iron quickly transformed into chains blazing with hellfire. They entwined the fire phoenix as if possessed with life. They were unfazed by its power. Meanwhile Sebastian maintained the fire demon's movements while keeping a careful eye on his own situation.
Since he began wielding the power of Hell, Sebastian had clearly sensed his soul drifting closer to the Hell Dimension and further from the Main Dimension. In other words as Sebastian had previously known, as long as he continued to wield the power of Hell, he would eventually return to the Hell Dimension. He would become a Hell Lord there. He would no longer be a human mage on Earth.
This was why Sebastian had previously avoided using the power of Hell. He only summoned a few Hellfire attacks.
The power of Hell was becoming increasingly unsuitable for Sebastian now.
A deep laugh echoed as the Flame Demon's massive skeletal hands blazing with hellfire grasped a handful of chains of varying sizes and thicknesses blazing with hellfire. They bound the Fire Phoenix tightly. They dragged it slowly towards him. Seemingly pinning it down.
The Fire Phoenix struggled relentlessly. But it was powerless to break free from the chains.
Soon the Fire Phoenix was pulled in front of the Flame Demon. Just as the Fire Demon grinning stretched out its sharp claws to claw at the Fire Phoenix's head, a hint of human mockery suddenly flashed in its golden eyes which had been struggling and screaming.
The chains which had seemed so strong just moments before were instantly broken by the Fire Phoenix.
The hellfire that had seemed to suppress the Fire Phoenix was now dispelled by the flames transformed from the Phoenix's power.
The Fire Demon which had seemed so powerful just moments before was instantly ripped into shreds by the Fire Phoenix's sharp claws and immense power. It dissipated into tiny specks of hellfire.
At this moment the Fire Phoenix looked at Sebastian right in front of it. Without the slightest hesitation as if it had been prepared for a long time, it launched an attack directly at Sebastian. It pounced on him on the ground!
Boom!
The Fire Phoenix's body once again transformed into a massive illusory flame. It enveloped Sebastian completely within it.
These illusory flames sometimes flickered with white light. Sometimes black patches wandered across the surface. It resembled solar flares and sunspots on the sun's surface.
Seeing Sebastian being engulfed by the Phoenix Force, Wanda immediately rushed forward. She moved to attack the Phoenix Force and rescue Sebastian from within.
But at this moment a pair of massive black wings shrouded in black smoke that the Phoenix Force could not erode stretched out from within the Phoenix Force. With a cawing sound a massive crow no smaller than the Fire Phoenix broke free from the Phoenix Force and soared into the sky!
