Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Peerless Card-Throwing Skill

Not long after, Allen brought over three recovered recon drones.

"Harrison, sir, one is still being located," he reported.

Each of the three drones had a red playing card embedded deep into it.

The drones had been shot down by playing cards.

Each card was like a blade, slicing clean into the drone's interior. What's more, every hit landed with surgical precision—right into the drone's core housing, where all the electronics and wiring were packed.

Now the facts were right in front of them.

[WTF? A playing card can do that kind of damage?]

[Oh my god! These must be some kind of special-made cards. Military drones have hardened exteriors!]

[Is it that hard to just admit someone's better than you?]

[You guys are just a bunch of sore losers. The evidence is right there—still making excuses?]

[Special-made or not, those cards took down MI5's drones. Facts are facts.]

Just then, a team member ran over carrying another drone.

"Harrison, sir! Captain!"

"We found the last drone!"

And sure enough, this one also had a card stuck in it.

Its front side was solid white, with a stylized outline of Kaitō Kid's face in the center. The back was the same design, but in red.

"This guy… how the hell did he do this?"

Harrison stared in disbelief. He couldn't wrap his head around how playing cards could bring down recon drones.

He reached out and tried to pull the card out of the drone himself, but it had sunk in too deep. With a little force, the card simply tore in half.

That was when he realized—

These weren't reinforced or custom cards at all.

Just standard paper playing cards.

Now Harrison was even more stunned.

The live stream chat exploded.

[HAHAHA this is too good—weren't they just claiming the cards were custom-made? It's literally paper!]

[WTF? Paper cards??]

[That's it. I've seen it all. Sliced a drone with a paper playing card.]

[Is this guy descended from the Tang Clan or something? Hidden Weapons Sect confirmed!]

[Oh my god—it really is Kaitō Kid. How'd he pull this off? Where is he hiding?!]

Harrison had the same question.

None of the drone feeds had captured a trace of Kaitō Kid's location.

But those cards—with his trademark design—were clearly his.

There was no doubt.

He was the one who shot down their drones.

And he'd done it using playing cards.

Harrison's head was spinning.

In all his years with MI5, he'd dealt with every kind of criminal. He'd seen ruthless killers and used every weapon under the sun.

But someone bringing down flying recon drones with nothing but playing cards?

That was a first.

Even more terrifying—

Despite having full aerial surveillance coverage, they hadn't even spotted him.

Face grim, Harrison gave the order.

"Expand the recon range. Stay alert—Kaitō Kid could strike at any moment."

They had the most advanced surveillance equipment available, and yet, four drones had already gone down before they'd even seen their target.

"Allen, deploy additional search teams. Sweep the entire area."

If the cards had taken down the drones, then Kaitō Kid had to be close by.

"Yes, sir!"

Allen turned to relay the orders immediately.

But just after Allen stepped away, the recon drones still flying in the sky began disconnecting one by one, their feeds going dark.

Of the remaining eight drones, every single live feed blinked out, screen after screen falling into black.

Even though the agents were doing everything they could to adjust flight patterns, it was no use.

In less than thirty seconds, all eight drones were down.

A total wipeout. All twelve recon drones—completely destroyed.

Allen hadn't even left the castle with his search teams yet.

[Oh my god! Is this for real? I can't believe it!]

[Did Kaitō Kid really take down all those drones with playing cards?]

[Come on, guys, that's just too far-fetched, right?]

[Every card hit its mark, and those drones were in flight. He was hitting moving targets!]

[This guy has to be from some ancient hidden weapons clan. Paper cards at this level? That's not even human anymore!]

Allen was still organizing his squads when a drone came crashing down right in front of him, missing his face by barely an inch.

His heart skipped a beat as he looked up, shaken.

He immediately ordered four squads to fan out and sweep the area for Kaitō Kid.

At that moment, Zhang Yang stood quietly beneath a tree by the road, watching until he was sure all the drones overhead had been cleared. Only then did he move on to the next step.

The white figure beneath the tree caught the attention of the team that had just stepped out of the castle.

"Captain! Visual on Kaitō Kid!"

The voice crackled through the comms, and Harrison instantly tensed up.

"Move in now! Apprehend the target!"

"Allen, take two squads and circle around through the side gate!"

As soon as the order was given, Harrison dispatched four MI5 agents to join Allen, while the rest stayed behind to guard the castle.

Milwich Castle had two gates—one main, one side.

[Kaitō Kid being found that easily? Something smells off!]

[Heh. Of course it's a setup. Deception is part of the game!]

[This time it's not just MI5. They've got Special Ops too—he's not getting away this time!]

[No way Kaitō Kid would make such a rookie mistake. I bet it's a decoy.]

Plenty of viewers in the livestream were already suspicious.

But Harrison and Allen were too focused on the arrest to notice.

Under the tree, that streak of white stood perfectly still.

Once Allen's units reached their positions to flank from both sides, the teams closed in.

But as they rushed in—

They found a rubber dummy standing there.

In its hand was a card.

"You've been tricked."

The bottom corner of the card had Kaitō Kid's signature smirking face doodled on it.

Allen's face turned red with rage. He snatched the card and flung it aside, then punched the dummy in frustration.

"Bam—!"

The dummy exploded on impact.

And that's when a puff of Sleep Powder Mist burst out, scattering in all directions.

The powder, pre-loaded into the dummy by Zhang Yang, sprayed straight into everyone's faces.

By the time they realized it, they'd already inhaled it.

The four MI5 agents reacted fastest, covering their noses and mouths immediately—but even so, they'd still taken in too much.

Within moments, they all collapsed to the ground, fast asleep.

Five minutes passed. The radio stayed eerily silent.

Harrison grew increasingly anxious.

Years of instinct told him something had gone wrong.

Grabbing the walkie-talkie, he called out.

"Allen! Captain Allen! Respond!"
