The radio was completely silent.
Harrison was now certain—something had gone wrong.
[What the hell? That many people went out and still couldn't catch Kaitō Kid?]
[Ding ding, you got it right!]
[WTF? What exactly are these guys even doing?]
[Hahaha, and this is supposed to be a live broadcast? What an international embarrassment!]
[Hey, don't talk like that. This is MI5 we're talking about—the pride of the nation!]
Harrison picked up his radio, face grim.
"All units, stay on alert. Kaitō Kid has appeared nearby!"
He moved quickly, striding out of the castle gates.
Once outside, he scanned both sides of the grounds—and there, faintly in the shadows beneath the trees, he spotted Allen and the others sprawled on the ground.
Harrison rushed over, only for his eyes to widen in shock.
"F**k!"
He was furious.
The people lying here accounted for nearly half of the castle's entire force.
[Tsk tsk, foreigners really can sleep anywhere—just drop and they're out!]
[Yōsh! Kaitō Kid is just too damn good!]
[Hahaha, certified badass right there!]
[Oh my god! What happened? They look like they all collapsed at the same time!]
[Dear lord, what the hell did Kaitō Kid do to them?!]
Allen and the rest were scattered across the ground in all kinds of strange sleeping positions, some piled on top of each other. There were no signs of a struggle anywhere.
Up above, Zhang Yang stood balanced on a tree branch, his eyes following Harrison for a moment before he looked away.
Too bad the Sleep Powder Mist worked instantly—he hadn't managed to knock Harrison out with the others.
The branch he was standing on was nearly as thick as a thigh, about ten meters off the ground. These towering trees were everywhere around Milwich Castle, the perfect cover for infiltration.
[Ding!]
[Item acquired: Shadowline Zipcord!]
[The Shadowline Zipcord is ultra-thin, almost invisible to the naked eye. Simply fire the anchor at a target location and the end will securely attach.]
All system store items were stored in the magic space.
Zhang Yang flipped his hand, pulling out the zipcord device. It resembled a small crossbow, fitted with a sighting scope.
He aimed at the castle rooftop, then squeezed the trigger.
Whoosh—
The shot landed clean.
Once the zipcord locked into place, Zhang Yang secured the other end to the tree behind him.
He waited until a patrol squad passed beneath the zipcord line, then moved.
Though the rooftop was slightly higher than his current position, the pulley attached to the device made up for it. With a small push off the trunk, Zhang Yang glided smoothly across the night sky.
Originally, the castle had a full roster of patrol squads. But now, only half remained.
Under cover of darkness, Zhang Yang zipped over the castle like a ghost.
Inside the castle, four patrol teams remained on high alert, keeping watch in all directions.
But none of them expected that Zhang Yang wouldn't climb over the wall at all—he was flying right over their heads.
Landing on the rooftop, Zhang Yang crouched and blended into the shadows.
The white silhouette on the rooftop disappeared into the dark.
Meanwhile, Harrison still had no idea that Zhang Yang had already infiltrated the castle.
He kept trying to wake Allen and the others, but no matter what he did, there was no response.
Eventually, he had no choice but to give up.
[Oh dear, sleeping on the ground on a night like this—aren't they going to catch a cold?]
[F**k, where the hell is Kaitō Kid?!]
[Tch—every time the opponents are strong, but still can't even touch the hem of his cape!]
[God above, it's complete intellectual domination. Kaitō Kid is just too damn smart!]
The Special Forces stationed at Milwich Castle, along with MI5 agents, were undoubtedly elite in both strength and skill.
But as the saying goes—there's always a higher mountain, always someone stronger.
They never even got the chance to face Zhang Yang directly, all that strength completely wasted with nowhere to use it.
Harrison stood at the gates of Milwich Castle. Under the veil of night, the old castle looked hauntingly majestic.
"Everyone stay on full alert. Kaitō Kid has made his move and may already be inside the castle!"
Harrison felt it was time to go see Lawrence. Even though he hadn't personally seen Zhang Yang enter, his instincts were screaming.
And that instinct wasn't baseless.
First, the drones had been taken down one by one. Then Allen and his entire team had been put to sleep.
To Harrison, it was clear—these were all part of Kaitō Kid's setup for the real job.
It was already past 9 p.m. when Harrison made his way into the castle, guided by the butler to the second floor where Lawrence resided.
The butler stopped outside a door and knocked.
"Mr. Lawrence, are you resting?"
"Director Harrison would like to speak with you."
The door opened shortly after.
Lawrence, dressed in a silk robe, stood calmly at the doorway. He waved the butler off before turning to Harrison with a measured tone.
"Director Harrison, is something the matter?"
At this point, he still didn't know what had happened outside.
Harrison's face was grim.
"Mr. Lawrence, Captain Allen and several others have been knocked out and are lying unconscious under the trees outside the castle."
"Only half the Special Forces are still active. I suspect that Kaitō Kid has already made it into the castle."
"That's why I hope you'll permit my agents to enter the premises and secure the safety of you and your wife."
"What? Kaitō Kid's already inside?!"
Lawrence's expression hardened. He had remained calm all this time because he trusted the strength of the Special Forces and Harrison's leadership.
But now, Harrison's words shattered that calm.
"Director Harrison, I don't just want you to protect us. I want you to capture Kaitō Kid."
"If he's already in the castle, then catch him. You have full authority to move as needed."
At this point, Lawrence had no choice but to lift all restrictions.
Harrison nodded. "I'll take action immediately. Sorry to disturb you, Mr. Lawrence."
"Please, rest well. Thank you."
Lawrence gave a faint nod and gently closed the door.
He sat back down on the couch, letting out a long sigh.
On the bed, his wife Bertha had overheard fragments of the conversation. She closed her book and asked softly, "Darling, has Kaitō Kid already made it inside the castle?"
Bertha was Lawrence's wife—and the target of Zhang Yang's heist, the ruby ring, was currently sitting right on her vanity table.
Lawrence answered in a low voice.
"Yes. Harrison is only speculating for now, but nothing's confirmed."
"Captain Allen and some of his team were knocked out by Kaitō Kid, outside under the trees."
"But Bertha, darling, don't worry. Harrison will take care of it."
Bertha sighed as she closed her book.
"Let's hope so…"
At that moment, Harrison and the remaining four MI5 agents began their sweep through the castle, searching for Zhang Yang.
As for the exterior, the remaining Special Forces maintained patrol—serving as the first line of defense.
But Harrison believed that if Kaitō Kid's target was Lawrence, then he was definitely already inside.
