Chapter 179 - Chapter 179: The Charm of Kaitō Kid!

Honestly, if Zhang Yang wanted to shake off the agents chasing him, it would've been a piece of cake. It wasn't even ten o'clock yet, and they were still in a busy downtown area.

There were plenty of cars on the road. If he floored the gas and weaved through traffic, he could definitely leave them in the dust.

But Zhang Yang didn't want to lose them. He was trying to change the location.

He already knew the Rensa Group building had a sophisticated security system. If he didn't draw Bruce and the others away, the difficulty level wouldn't just be as simple as adding one plus one.

"Bruce really took his sweet time. Took him this long to catch up?"

Zhang Yang glanced in the rearview mirror, spotting a new black SUV, and smiled with satisfaction.

As long as Bruce was following, the plan could proceed.

Zhang Yang carefully controlled the car's speed—not letting them catch up, but not letting them lose him either.

There was a gas plant in the suburbs. It was the perfect place to throw Bruce off.

At night, the gas plant was fully lit and took up a sizable area. It was considered a medium-to-large facility.

Zhang Yang rammed open the front gate in his white sedan and drove straight in.

The security guard inside the booth was scared out of his wits. He threw on his hat and ran out, shouting.

"What the hell? What kind of stunt is this?!"

Right after, Bruce and his team followed closely behind. As one vehicle after another barreled into the plant, the guard was stunned.

Zhang Yang parked the car and immediately dropped a smoke bomb under it, slipping out of view before Bruce and the others could see him.

"Shit!"

Seeing where they'd ended up, Bruce clenched his teeth and cursed.

This was not a place where they could act recklessly. One stray spark could ignite something dangerous, and the entire city's gas pipeline could blow.

"No one fires their weapon! This is a gas plant—everyone be careful!"

Bruce was always ready to risk his life on a mission, but the blast radius of a gas plant was no joke. That kind of explosion would cause a citywide disaster.

He parked the car and had just stepped out when the security guard caught up to them.

"Fuck! Who the hell are you people?!"

But when Bruce turned around, the guard froze. The anger on his face vanished instantly.

"D-Director Bruce?!"

"You're…"

Just five minutes ago, the guard had been watching the livestream.

He never imagined he'd be so lucky—to witness Bruce chasing Kaitō Kid all the way to the gas plant.

A front-row seat to the real thing.

Bruce casually flashed his badge and instructed the guard to return to the booth.

"We're taking over this facility. Notify everyone to stay put and not move around."

"Also, get your supervisor over here. The plant needs to be shut down immediately."

A facility this big couldn't afford even the smallest mistake.

The guard nodded like a pecking chicken, then ran back to the booth, grabbed his radio, and contacted his boss.

Then he pulled out his phone, opened a livestream, and aimed the camera at the surveillance screen.

Even though his account had barely any followers, once he tagged both Bruce and Kaitō Kid, the heat started rolling in.

[Where is this? Is that Bruce on the monitor?]

[What the hell? Which media outlet got here first? How did they find the scene so fast?]

[Why are they at a gas plant? Bruce is here, so where's Kaitō Kid?]

[A gas plant? Don't tell me Davis wants Kaitō Kid to blow it up!]

[A gang is one thing, but blowing up a gas plant? That's terrorism!]

More and more viewers poured into the livestream as the security guard narrated the scene to everyone watching.

The barrage of comments surged rapidly, with more netizens joining by the second.

Once they realized Kaitō Kid had run into the gas plant, the theories in the chat grew wild.

[Oh my god! Kaitō Kid isn't seriously planning something crazy at the gas plant, is he?]

[If the plant explodes, this won't just be about catching someone or not—Bruce is going to be in deep trouble!]

[Kaitō Kid wouldn't blow up the gas plant. He's never hurt anyone during a heist. There's no way he'd go that far.]

[But he could've escaped anywhere else—why come to a place like this?]

Debates erupted across the stream.

Bruce immediately ordered all the agents and law enforcement officers on-site to surround the entire plant.

He also demanded the plant manager halt all operations until the mission concluded.

"Listen up! No matter what happens, do not open fire!"

"Stay alert. Safety is the top priority!"

Bruce knew all too well—even a sharpshooter would probably miss a shot at Kaitō Kid.

In any other setting, a stray bullet might just leave a hole in the wall.

But here, a misfire could hit a gas pipe or something worse and set off an explosion. The consequences would be catastrophic.

Dozens of agents and over a hundred law enforcement officers began a full sweep of the gas plant—slow, but effective.

At that moment, Zhang Yang had already reached the control room. He shut down the plant's operations, exactly as expected.

He'd predicted Bruce wouldn't dare act recklessly here.

So, once the machines powered down, Zhang Yang opened the control box and cut the main circuit.

In an instant, the entire gas plant went dark, and the security monitors in the booth went black.

"Whoa! This is insane!"

"Guys, Kaitō Kid just cut the power!"

The security guard was visibly pumped, shouting excitedly.

[Bro, what are you doing? Maybe show a little professionalism?]

[Kaitō Kid broke in and killed the lights—shouldn't that count as security failure? Why's this guy so hyped?]

[Hahaha, is this the true charm of Kaitō Kid?]

[Oh my god! With no power and no guns allowed, what chance does Bruce have now?]

[Shit! I thought we'd get to witness an epic showdown live!]

With the power cut, Zhang Yang turned around with a smirk.

"Let the game begin!"

"Activate Dummy Capsule No. 1!"

Near a handrail at a high spot inside the plant, a Kaitō Kid dummy appeared, lounging casually on the railing as if watching the scene below.

From his posture to his expression, it looked nearly identical to the real thing.

The moment a flashlight beam landed on the dummy, one of the agents shouted in surprise.

"Kaitō Kid! He's up on the railing!"

Nearby agents and officers rushed over. In no time, more than a dozen flashlight beams converged on the dummy.

"Damn, it really is Kaitō Kid!"

"Surround him! Leave a few people down here to guard the bottom!"

A squad leader made a quick decision, ordering his team to climb up and capture him.

"Director Bruce, we've found Kaitō Kid! He's lying on a railing up high!"

Bruce, hearing this, responded with excitement.

"Grab him, now!"

"Remember—don't fire! Ensure the gas plant stays safe!"
