Chapter 221 - Chapter 221: Under a Bounty, the Brave Will Emerge!

The media followed the motorcade to the Enforcement Bureau headquarters, but the livestream cameras didn't immediately catch Victor and the others rushing into the building.

That made the livestream viewers assume Victor's team had actually caught Kaitō Kid and brought him back to the Bureau to lock him up.

"Wait, what? Did they really catch Kaitō Kid?"

"Oh my god, did Victor's team really do it? How'd they manage that?"

"Beating magic with mortal strength? No way!"

"Something feels way off—there's gotta be something we missed!"

"If they actually caught Kaitō Kid, I'll eat this whole building!"

Victor burst into his superior's office, just about to borrow his ID card to open the vault and inspect the treasures—

But suddenly, the computer monitor on the desk went black.

Then, a Kaitō Kid avatar popped up on the screen—wearing a mischievous, taunting grin.

Seeing this, Victor's superior narrowed his eyes in anger and shot him a furious glare as he handed over the ID card.

Bruce and Harrison waited just outside the office, both of them thinking the same thing—Kaitō Kid had probably already been to the Enforcement Bureau headquarters.

"Our FBI HQ is one of the most secure places out there, and even we couldn't stop him. No doubt Kaitō Kid can break into the Bureau."

Harrison took a deep breath and nodded with a complicated expression.

"Let's hope we're wrong. Otherwise, we really need to rethink how to capture him next."

Zhang Yang's stylish entrance outside the manor tonight had shaken Harrison to the core.

He was starting to feel discouraged again, unsure how they could even continue chasing Kaitō Kid.

Meanwhile, right after leaving the Enforcement Bureau HQ, Zhang Yang headed straight for the Dragon Nation Embassy.

But to his surprise, Holmeska's car was still parked out front.

"This guy's really haunting me like a ghost!"

Zhang Yang sped past the embassy without a moment's hesitation.

Holmeska wasn't like Maket or Jeff—he was Sherlock Holmes's descendant. Trying to use Bruce and the others against him obviously wouldn't work.

"Looks like I need to figure out a way to get rid of this problem for good."

Before Zhang Yang could deal with Holmeska, he noticed a black sedan had been tailing him for a while.

"Another headache?"

Looking through the rearview mirror, he could see the driver staring straight at him, unblinking.

Yep, definitely trouble. Zhang Yang immediately put on his monocle.

"Run a scan and pull up that guy's info."

Within five seconds of issuing the command, the monocle displayed a full identity report.

"Seriously? Another wanted criminal? Are any of the people who got an invitation even normal?"

The guy following him was named Sherrson, and he was just as much trouble as the rest.

He used to be an agent in the Eagle Nation. Later, he got caught stealing and dereliction of duty.

He vanished after robbing a federal vault of over one hundred million dollars.

Now, a man who had been off the grid for over two years had suddenly popped up in France—and set his sights on Zhang Yang.

Zhang Yang didn't know whether to laugh or cry. This competition was really dragging in all kinds of monsters and freaks.

There must've been several attempts to hunt Sherrson down over the past two years, and none had succeeded.

And yet the competition organizers still managed to send him an invitation—and even got him to show up in broad daylight.

"Money really can make the devil dance. Put a bounty on something, and the brave will come crawling!"

"But Sherrson's got a bounty on his head too. When two hunters meet head-on, the one with guts wins!"

Zhang Yang suddenly drifted on the road, spinning his car around. The sudden move startled Sherrson behind him, who slammed on the brakes in panic—both cars now faced each other head-on.

Other cars on the road swerved out of the way, trying to avoid the scene. Honking and shouting broke out all around.

"Shit! Are you trying to die?"

"What the hell are you doing, driving against traffic?"

"Fuck! You've got a death wish!"

Zhang Yang ignored the angry drivers. He just stared directly at Sherrson, lifting his hand and curling his finger in a taunting gesture.

Sherrson realized he'd been spotted. His eyes went cold as he threw the car into gear and floored the accelerator. The engine roared, and the tires screeched sharply.

In the next instant, Zhang Yang shifted into reverse and also hit the gas hard.

The two cars raced down the road, one chasing, one reversing. Even while driving in reverse, Zhang Yang didn't let Sherrson get any closer.

"Fuck!"

Sherrson slammed the steering wheel in frustration. Zhang Yang's provocation was clearly working.

But reverse had its limits. Just as Sherrson was about to crash into him, Zhang Yang yanked the handbrake and spun the car around in a sharp one-hundred-eighty-degree drift.

Sherrson didn't have time to react. His car shot forward and crashed right into the back of a pickup truck.

Bang...

White smoke instantly rose from the hood. Sherrson held his head and stumbled out of the car.

Zhang Yang stayed in his seat, grinning at him through the windshield.

The pickup truck driver was a big, burly man with a thick beard. He glanced at the dent in his truck's tailgate, then angrily yelled, "What the hell? How do you drive like that?!"

Sherrson's car was totaled on the spot, while the pickup just had a dented rear.

Turning around and catching sight of Zhang Yang's mocking grin, Sherrson's rage exploded.

He pulled out a pistol and scared the pickup driver off.

Then he jumped into the pickup, ignoring oncoming traffic, and reversed it aggressively—aiming to ram Zhang Yang head-on.

"This guy's a lunatic."

Zhang Yang cursed under his breath. Sherrson had totally lost it now.

Zhang Yang floored it and sped off again. He had done it on purpose—pushed Sherrson into a rage.

Sherrson drove the pickup like a man possessed, pressing the gas pedal to the floor like he wanted to smash it through the engine. His eyes were murderous, hell-bent on tearing Zhang Yang apart.

Zhang Yang weaved smoothly through traffic, keeping his speed just right. Losing Sherrson would've been easy.

But that wasn't the plan.

He didn't want to shake him. He wanted to hand him over—as a little gift to Bruce and the others.

They weren't far from the Enforcement Bureau HQ. And Zhang Yang was sure Bruce and the team were probably still there, likely still dealing with that taunting face on the screen, surrounded by the media.

Zhang Yang rolled down his window, pulled out his phone, snapped a photo of the pickup behind him, and posted it online.

"Director Victor, the public safety in France is really slipping. Remember the ex-agent who robbed a federal vault—Sherrson? Looks like he's back."

The moment the post went up, it sparked a wave of global attention.

Sherrson's identity was quickly dug up and dropped into the comments.

"Sherrson? Former Eagle Nation agent? He's an A-class wanted criminal!"

"Oh my god! France's public safety is really a mess!"

"He vanished after stealing a vault worth over one hundred million dollars. How is he showing up in France now? And how did Kaitō Kid even spot him?"

"Wait a minute—when did Kaitō Kid leave the manor?"
