Chapter 227 - Chapter 227: The Enforcement Bureau? What a Joke!

As the topic kept trending online, the French Enforcement Bureau suddenly became the center of attention around the world. French media rushed to the scene for live coverage. Dozens of Enforcement Bureau vehicles were parked at the entrance, some with lights flashing.

With confirmed reports from livestreams, public curiosity exploded.

[What could possibly be happening at a museum that needs this many agents from the Enforcement Bureau?]

[What the hell? Something's definitely going down at the museum!]

[Still no sign of anyone from the Enforcement Bureau's upper division. Maybe this has nothing to do with Kaitō Kid?]

[The thief who hit the bank vault last night wasn't Kaitō Kid… no way they're going after the museum too, right?]

[If they're really that capable, they'd be even crazier than Kaitō Kid!]

No matter how chaotic things got outside the museum, Holmeska stayed put in his car. He hadn't seen the person he was waiting for yet.

"Hope Kaitō Kid shows up in style. Otherwise, it'll be hard to track him down."

These past couple of days, Holmeska had been staking out the Dragon Nation Embassy, trying to track Zhang Yang's movements.

But what he didn't know was that Zhang Yang had already passed by the embassy twice—and spotted Holmeska first.

[Thought it was some major emergency. Turns out it's because a batch of artifacts is flying back to Britain tonight. That explains all the Bureau agents.]

[Oh my god! I visited the French Museum just last week. I remember they mentioned a batch of exhibits was being sent back to Britain!]

[Kaitō Kid's new notice is already out. Could it be referring to those very artifacts?]

[No way… is the French Museum really his target?]

[Wait, you're telling me they handed the Kaitō Kid operation to the Enforcement Bureau? Has France lost its mind? Or are they just dumb?]

Ever since Kaitō Kid made his debut, he had never received this kind of "insult."

The Island Nation had mobilized the whole country to catch him, and now France had the audacity to assign the task to the Enforcement Bureau? That wasn't just ridiculous—it was insulting.

Just as the livestream chat exploded in debate, a familiar figure finally appeared.

Several Enforcement Bureau command vehicles pulled up to the museum. The moment Victor stepped out of the car, the whole crowd erupted.

Gasps and whispers quickly filled the air.

[Oh my god, Director Victor is here. That proves it—Kaitō Kid's new target really is the French Museum!]

[Shit! They absolutely cannot let Kaitō Kid succeed this time. Those artifacts were only borrowed from the British Museum!]

[Unbelievable… is Kaitō Kid doing this on purpose?]

[Was the bank vault thief really Kaitō Kid? If Victor blamed him without proof, he's definitely going to pay for it.]

[Kaitō Kid already had beef with the Enforcement Bureau from the moment he set foot in France. If Victor wrongly accuses him again, this feud is gonna blow up!]

The Bureau's sudden appearance caught a lot of people off guard.

Details about the French Museum's temporary loan from the British Museum, along with the official notices, were quickly dug up and shared online.

The livestream chat went wild. The bank vault had been hit just last night, and now today, Kaitō Kid had dropped a new notice targeting the French Museum.

[You don't even need a brain to know the vault thief wasn't Kaitō Kid!]

[That white card was clearly planted to frame him. The real culprit just wanted him to take the fall!]

[You Kaitō Kid fans are so loud. He hasn't even said anything, but you all won't shut up!]

[And you're barking like a dog. Did the bank even get a notice from Kaitō Kid, huh?]

[There was no time or place mentioned in the new notice. Kaitō Kid's obviously trying to make things harder for Victor. Don't forget the first line of the notice!]

Victor and Harrison entered the museum. Half of the batch of artifacts scheduled to be returned to Britain had already been packed.

The person in charge hurried over to greet Victor and Harrison with a handshake.

"Officers, you're finally here!"

"This is Kaitō Kid's notice. These artifacts were borrowed from the British Museum. Nothing can go wrong!"

Harrison and Victor didn't even bother reading the letter in detail. The post was already public. There was no way this notice was fake.

The person in charge looked panicked. Losing even a single artifact meant massive compensation. It would be a devastating loss.

Everything happened so suddenly. Neither Victor nor Harrison had time to prepare. They rushed over right away.

Harrison gave two suggestions.

"If we insist on escorting the artifacts to the flight, Kaitō Kid will definitely strike before dark."

"Or we can delay the return. I can help coordinate with the British Museum."

Harrison was a chief officer at MI5, so his status gave him enough sway. And the reason was valid. Postponing for a few days wouldn't be a problem.

Every time Kaitō Kid showed up, it was a chance to catch him. Victor didn't want to waste that.

But keeping the artifacts in France wasn't exactly safe either.

"Officer Harrison, we can come up with a targeted escort plan. The bank vault thief is likely still in France."

Every extra day the artifacts stayed in France was another day of risk. Things were far from stable here.

After thinking it through, Harrison felt delaying the return was a safer bet. Too many variables could arise on the road.

Even the slightest slip could let Kaitō Kid exploit the situation and ruin everything.

"Officer Victor, maybe it's safest to keep the artifacts in the museum for now. Remember what happened when we moved Subier's artifacts? He noticed right away."

"If anything goes wrong during the escort, the entire operation could fail."

"As for the British Museum, don't worry. I'll handle them directly."

These artifacts belonged to Britain. Since Harrison offered to take responsibility, Victor didn't argue.

If anything went wrong, Victor would be the one blamed.

Meanwhile, Zhang Yang parked his car by the roadside outside the museum.

The Enforcement Bureau hadn't left. In fact, the area had been locked down even tighter under Victor's orders.

"Holmeska really showed up. What's his game?"

Zhang Yang sat in his car, staring at Holmeska's vehicle ahead, deep in thought.

The contest had started. Of course Holmeska would make a move.

But what exactly he'd do, what plan he had—Zhang Yang couldn't guess.

That meant Zhang Yang's plan had to account for him as a variable.

If he didn't, Holmeska could easily mess things up and get him caught.

Zhang Yang waited outside the museum all the way until the sun set behind the hills. Still, the artifacts didn't come out.

"Did they call off the escort?"

Judging by the distance from here to the airport, if they wanted to make the eight o'clock flight, they should've left by now.

Zhang Yang checked the time. There wasn't enough time left on the clock.

"If they're not sending the artifacts to the airport, then tonight's stage is set right here at the museum!"
