Chapter 228 - Chapter 228: Encountering “Kaitō Kid” Again

Harrison immediately got in touch with the British Museum. With help from MI5, the return of the loaned artifacts from the French Museum would be rescheduled. The specific date was to be determined, giving the French side plenty of time.

Soon, the sun set and night fell.

Outside the French Museum, nothing had changed. The Enforcement Bureau and Enforcement Department still had the place locked down tightly.

The only difference was that more people had shown up to watch.

"Did they delay the return of the artifacts? They still haven't left?!"

"Heh, Kaitō Kid's target is clearly the British Museum's collection. You think they'd dare move anything?"

"Shit! Kaitō Kid's intel network is too good. Honestly, I think the Enforcement Bureau should learn from him!"

"He knew about A-Class fugitives in France, and now he even knows about the artifacts loaned from the British Museum!"

"Is Kaitō Kid even a single person? This is freaky!"

It felt like there was nothing Kaitō Kid didn't know. His insane intel-gathering skills had people questioning if he was really just one person—or a massive, terrifying organization.

This doubt came from comparisons with the French Enforcement Bureau. When A-Class fugitives appeared in France, it wasn't the authorities who first noticed and acted—it was Kaitō Kid.

Naturally, people began questioning the Enforcement Bureau's capabilities.

"Time to move."

As the stars lit up the night sky, Zhang Yang was just about to deal with the Holmeska problem first.

Suddenly, rumbling came from the distant sky. The noise grew louder and closer, heading straight toward their location at high speed.

Everyone's attention snapped to the direction of the sound. That included both Zhang Yang and Holmeska.

A helicopter roared in from above, flying low like it was in hot pursuit. A searchlight snapped on, casting a bright white beam onto a black sedan below.

"Huh? Is France always this chaotic?"

Zhang Yang was stunned by the scene.

The bank vault had been robbed. He himself was planning to hit the museum tonight. And now, a helicopter was chasing down a suspect?

But as the black sedan sped past, Zhang Yang's sharp vision caught something unexpected...

The driver inside the sedan was wearing a white tuxedo.

He also had on a monocle and a white top hat.

That wasn't a fugitive—that was another "Kaitō Kid"!

To this day, no one knew Kaitō Kid's true identity. No one even knew what he really looked like.

The only recognizable thing about him was that iconic outfit.

So anyone dressed like that could impersonate him.

"Interesting… what kind of performance is this supposed to be?"

Zhang Yang didn't rush to reveal himself. He didn't need to prove who he was.

'If it's fake, it won't last. If it's real, it can't be faked.'

There had to be a reason this fake Kaitō Kid showed up.

Soon, the black sedan roared past Zhang Yang. The helicopter's searchlight stayed locked on it.

The sedan had a clear goal—it was charging straight for the French Museum.

The crowd ahead screamed and scattered. It nearly caused a disaster.

Zhang Yang's brows furrowed. This guy clearly didn't care about Kaitō Kid's reputation.

If someone got hurt, the headlines tomorrow would tear him apart.

He'd be a rat in the street—everyone out for blood.

Now Kaitō Kid had fans all over the world because he'd never hurt anyone. He stole with style and never emptied out an entire vault or museum. That kind of unique charm was why people liked and supported him.

But this "Kaitō Kid" behind the wheel was clearly just a reckless criminal, charging through the crowd without a care.

Up ahead, the screech of tires echoed as the black sedan drifted and came to a sharp stop in front of the French Museum.

Then the driver calmly stepped out. He faced the crowd and gave a polite bow. With a wave of his hand, he seemingly conjured a rose out of thin air.

But Zhang Yang saw everything clearly. That rose had been hidden in his sleeve all along. He just slid it out during the flourish.

Fake or not, at least the guy put some effort into the act.

"Oh my god! Kaitō Kid has appeared!"

"Shit! That guy nearly ran me over! He's nuts!"

"With so many people from the Enforcement Bureau and Enforcement Department here, he still dares to show up like this?"

"Totally unexpected entrance—Kaitō Kid's way too cool!"

"That's an Enforcement Bureau helicopter overhead. What's Kaitō Kid planning by stopping here? Isn't he afraid of getting caught?"

No one questioned his identity. Just seeing the white tux was enough to convince everyone it was Kaitō Kid.

That alone fooled the entire crowd.

Zhang Yang took a deep breath, unsure what this guy was really trying to pull.

The front of the French Museum was crawling with agents from both the Enforcement Department and the Enforcement Bureau—over one hundred people.

Showing up like this was basically walking into a trap.

But then Zhang Yang quickly figured it out. The odds were slim, but it made sense.

'Unless he's confident he can escape and just needs to create a distraction for his partner.'

'That helicopter looks suspicious.'

Zhang Yang glanced up at the helicopter hovering overhead. Its spotlight shone like a stage light, beaming directly onto the "Kaitō Kid" below.

All the noise outside drew Victor and Harrison to the window. When they spotted the figure at the entrance, both were stunned.

"Shit! Kaitō Kid's already here! What are you standing around for?"

"Move! Catch him now!"

With Victor's order, agents from the museum and the surrounding area—both Enforcement Department and Bureau—sprang into action.

The fake "Kaitō Kid" jumped back into the black sedan, floored the gas, and sped away from the museum.

Zhang Yang let out a quiet chuckle. Exactly as he'd guessed.

The guy showed up just to draw attention away and give his partner a window of opportunity.

'That guy might actually be the one who robbed the bank vault. Let's hope Victor and Harrison can handle him.'

Enforcement cars quickly chased after him. But even in that chaos, Harrison stayed calm.

"Victor, leave some people behind. This could be one of Kaitō Kid's tricks."

"You might lose him in the chase…"

It wasn't Harrison trying to be a downer. Victor nodded seriously and left behind a third of the team to keep guarding the museum.

Everyone was stunned by the sudden turn of events.

"What the hell? He just ran off like that?"

"Stylish entrance, panicked exit. With so many agents here tonight, not even Kaitō Kid dares face them head-on!"

"Shit! What's he playing at?"

"That's it? That's the whole thing?"

"So boring… Kaitō Kid just ran away!"

As Zhang Yang listened to the crowd grumbling, he started scanning the area to figure out where the guy's partner was hiding.
