Chapter 229 - Chapter 229: Kaitō Kid, You're Under Arrest!

Otherwise, what he did would've been way too reckless. Even if he had a decent chance of getting away, it was still a huge risk.

After Victor led his men in pursuit, a rope dropped from the helicopter. Two men rappelled down, both in full French Enforcement Bureau uniforms, fully armed.

Just then, Holmeska got in his car and took off after Victor's team, with the helicopter overhead following close behind.

Zhang Yang stayed where he was, calmly observing everything.

'Perfect timing. Holmeska leaves, and those two from the helicopter must be his accomplices.'

Kaitō Kid had already fled, yet these two came down right here? It made no sense at all.

But no one at the scene gave it much thought. Most were focused on whether Kaitō Kid would actually be caught—or what he'd even shown up for in the first place.

[Looks like Victor's plan really worked this time. They actually scared Kaitō Kid off!]

[Damn, I thought we were in for a good show. Kaitō Kid really dropped the ball tonight.]

[Oh my god! Did he just show up to perform a magic trick for everyone?]

[Was this a misfire for Kaitō Kid? Maybe he'll make a comeback later tonight.]

[Didn't you see how many people Victor brought with him? First let him escape, then we'll talk.]

Zhang Yang quietly returned to his car. That guy was just embarrassing.

Embarrassing enough on his own, but to impersonate Kaitō Kid and humiliate the name—that was even worse.

'Looks like I'll have to clean up this mess myself.'

Zhang Yang changed into his white tux and got ready to move.

Just around the corner was the nearby power transformer box.

Even though Victor had taken away two-thirds of the agents, Harrison still had forty to fifty people guarding the area. And there were still two unknown individuals inside. The operation had to be flawless.

Zhang Yang placed a small timed explosive inside the power box, set to detonate in five minutes.

"Okay. The real Kaitō Kid is about to take the stage."

He got into his car and headed straight for the museum. There were far fewer enforcement officers at the entrance now.

As soon as Zhang Yang's car appeared, the crowd quieted down. Only whispers could be heard.

[What the hell? What's this car doing here now?]

[No way… Did Kaitō Kid already shake off Victor's team?]

[Oh my god! What's even happening tonight? Am I dreaming?]

[Showing up at this time—if it's not Kaitō Kid, who else could it be?]

[If this guy's the real Kaitō Kid, then who was the one earlier? Is there a second Kaitō Kid in the world?]

Zhang Yang opened the door and stepped out of the car, calm and unhurried.

The crowd was stunned. Gasps broke out everywhere.

Even the enforcement agents guarding the museum were completely caught off guard.

It had only been five minutes since the last "Kaitō Kid" appeared, and Victor had taken people to chase him. Now here Kaitō Kid was—again!

[Holy crap, it really is Kaitō Kid! He actually ditched Victor and came back!]

[What the hell is Victor doing? He lost him that fast and let him return?]

[Shit! Kaitō Kid's full of surprises. How did he even ditch the helicopter?]

[Hahaha! Kaitō Kid just completely clowned on Victor. Total domination!]

[This is bad. Only Harrison and a small team are left. Kaitō Kid didn't run—this was all part of his plan!]

Until now, no one had realized the first Kaitō Kid that showed up was a fake.

Even though Zhang Yang didn't look like the one who came earlier, everyone knew Kaitō Kid's disguise skills were legendary.

He could be anyone, with any face.

That guy earlier didn't just help his accomplices. He also gave Zhang Yang the perfect opening.

Even Holmeska had been lured away. So in the end, that fake appearance wasn't totally useless.

The enforcement officers quickly reported through their earpieces.

"Harrison, sir! Kaitō Kid has appeared. Should we move in now?"

For a moment, all the agents were unsure of themselves.

Two Kaitō Kids showing up in just five minutes had completely thrown them off.

Harrison was just as shocked when he heard.

"What the hell? Kaitō Kid's already back?"

"What's going on with Victor? He lost him that fast?"

Harrison had purposely kept some men back and hadn't gone chasing with Victor, just in case.

He hadn't expected it to happen this soon—only five minutes later, Kaitō Kid had already returned.

Harrison ordered an immediate mobilization. Agents and operatives rushed forward, surrounding Zhang Yang.

Harrison stood at the front, eyes sharp as blades, and shouted coldly,

"Kaitō Kid! You're under arrest!"

His voice rang out loud and clear, but deep down, Harrison had no confidence.

Zhang Yang hadn't moved at all. He just stood there as if nothing was happening.

Anyone else might surrender or give up. But Kaitō Kid? Never.

[What is Kaitō Kid doing? Earlier he fled right away, and now he's just standing there?]

[Oh my god. I'm so confused. I have no idea what Kaitō Kid is trying to do!]

[Hahaha! What nonsense is Harrison talking about? Is he even awake?]

[Shit! Does Harrison think this is some street bust? Everyone's acting crazy tonight!]

[Kaitō Kid ditched Victor like nothing and came back to the museum. No way he's here just to get caught.]

The crowd's merciless teasing made Harrison's face turn grim.

Just as he was about to give the order to arrest him, Zhang Yang flipped his hand and pulled out a deck of cards.

Then, like butterflies, the cards fluttered between his fingers, drawing everyone's eyes.

Harrison frowned and barked out,

"Kaitō Kid! Stop that right now!"

"No one's here to watch your magic tricks. You're already under arrest!"

Zhang Yang raised his hand and tossed the cards into the air.

With a sharp snap of his fingers, a flurry of red petals rained down.

Zhang Yang noticed the enforcers were armed with stun guns, while the Enforcement Bureau agents carried live firearms.

But they had him surrounded. They wouldn't dare open fire.

One stray bullet, and they might hit one of their own.

In the falling petals, Zhang Yang calmly stepped forward.

Harrison frowned deeply. He had no clue what Zhang Yang was trying to do.

The agents and operatives instinctively stepped back. Only Harrison stood firm, not moving an inch.

"Kaitō Kid, don't waste your energy resisting!"

As he spoke, Harrison drew his sidearm and raised it to aim.
