Chapter 174 - Your solution was… decisive.
Under the combined pressure of Roy and Akeno, Irina finally relented.
She knew she couldn't win, and even sacrificing her life would only lead to reincarnation as a devil, betraying her faith.
The humiliating situation left Irina on the verge of breaking down.
Seeing Akeno and Irina's excited, eager expressions, the holy sword in her hand felt impossibly heavy, impossible to lift.
"Despicable devils, resorting to such filthy tactics," Irina said, glaring with a mix of anger and grievance.
After glancing at Xenovia, unconscious in Roy's arms, her shoulders slumped, her tense muscles relaxing as Excalibur Mimic lost its aggressive edge.
"Who said we're not devils?" Akeno smirked, making Irina's chest heave with unvented fury.
"Fine, we surrender," Irina said, tossing Excalibur Mimic to the ground, her eyes filled with humiliation.
"What do you want from me?"
"You don't seem convinced," Akeno said, eyeing Irina with interest.
"Maybe we should let you fall to corruption first, so you don't pull any sneaky tricks later."
"What do you think, Roy?" Akeno continued playfully, turning to him.
"Blonde, twin ponytails, devout saint. It'd be fun to see her fall, right? I've heard boys love tainting sacred things."
"Where did you hear that?" Roy asked, his mouth twitching in exasperation.
"Oh, here and there," Akeno replied with a mischievous smile.
"Is my info wrong?"
"Not entirely…" Roy admitted after a moment's thought, seeming to entertain the idea.
"You're not keeping your word!" Irina exclaimed, her face paling as fear drained her color.
"Not keeping our word?" Akeno said, feigning confusion.
"We devils are the most honest race. Besides, did we promise you anything?"
Irina looked ready to faint from frustration.
"Rias, inform Sona," Roy ignored Irina's trembling form as Akeno continued to toy with her.
He casually tossed Xenovia to Irina, who caught her.
Having earned 250,000 dimensional points from Xenovia, Roy had no immediate need to keep her restrained.
"Sona, come to the Occult Research Club. It's urgent," Rias used communication magic with a serious tone.
Soon after, Sona arrived with Tsubaki at the ORC.
"Church members?" Sona's gaze drawing to Xenovia and Irina, then to the two holy swords on the table.
Noticing Irina sitting quietly, holding an unconscious Xenovia, who seemed harmless, Sona shifted her attention to Rias.
"What's the urgent matter? Your tone sounded serious."
Rias quickly recounted the events, bringing Sona up to speed.
After listening, Sona's mouth opened in astonishment.
She glanced at the church duo on the sofa and said in a stunned tone, "Your solution was… decisive."
Detaining the Church's holy sword wielders over a mere theory was bold.
Sona wouldn't have acted so recklessly.
As the heir to the Sitri clan, her sensitive position demanded avoiding conflict to prevent escalation between the Church and devils.
Truthfully, she might not have even considered that Kokabiel's target in Kuoh Town could be her and Rias.
Seeing Rias's expression, Sona sighed.
The deed was done, so whether Roy's theory was correct or not, they had to proceed as if it were.
Fortunately, the holy sword wielders were unharmed, and the situation wasn't beyond salvage.
"What's your next step?" Sona asked.
"Kokabiel's goal is the holy swords," Roy explained.
"With Excalibur Destruction and Excalibur Mimic here, I plan to release their sacred aura to lure Kokabiel out."
"Facing Kokabiel with our current strength will be tricky," Sona said, her expression growing serious.
A fallen angel recorded in the Bible, Kokabiel had survived the brutal three factions war.
His strength and experience far surpassed those of the young devils.
"There shouldn't be an issue," Rias said. "Roy has mastered his Balance Breaker. Even if he can't defeat Kokabiel, he can hold his own."
"Balance Breaker?" Sona's eyes widened slightly, landing on Roy with disbelief.
"That powerful aura from the old school building last time… was that your Balance Breaker?"
After Rias's words, Sona recalled the overwhelming aura she'd felt, surpassing high class strength.
