Chapter 213 - CHAPTER 213

Obito's Plan

Uchiha Obito, Pain, and Konan appeared in the Land of Water.

They were heading to Kirigakure, the Hidden Mist Village, to secure new recruits for the Akatsuki organization. However, not far from the village's outskirts, they encountered an unexpected obstacle—Yagura Karatachi, the Fourth Mizukage.

Following the mysterious death of the Third Mizukage, Yagura had assumed leadership of the Hidden Mist. Around the same time, the village had managed to retrieve the Three-Tails, Isobu, after the death of Rin Nohara, who had previously served as its Jinchūriki.

Kirigakure had experimented with several candidates to become Isobu's new host. But every attempt ended in disaster—none could tame the beast, leading to devastating losses. To put an end to the instability, Yagura personally volunteered to become Isobu's Jinchūriki.

Yagura's talent was exceptional. Through rigorous training and sheer willpower, he established mutual understanding with the Three-Tails, ultimately becoming a perfect Jinchūriki—akin to Killer Bee of Kumogakure. He was one of the few who could fully control their Tailed Beast.

At that moment, Yagura was returning to the village from a diplomatic mission when he sensed an ominous presence. Spotting Obito, Pain, and Konan near the village entrance, his instincts sharpened.

Yagura's gaze fixed on Pain's forehead protector—marked with a horizontal slash through the symbol of Amegakure.

A rogue shinobi.

Immediately, he brandished his unique hook-bladed staff, adorned with green markings, and pointed it at the trio.

> "Who are you?!"

Obito's Sharingan gleamed from behind his orange spiral mask. He instantly recognized the man before him: Yagura Karatachi, the Fourth Mizukage.

> "Perfect. Then do me a favor..." Obito muttered.

Without hesitation, he activated his Sharingan and cast a powerful genjutsu, aiming to seize control of Yagura's mind.

Yagura's body froze—entrapped in the illusion.

Pain observed quietly, then turned toward Obito.

> "What are you planning?"

Obito responded calmly.

> "If I control the Fourth Mizukage, I control Kirigakure. With my Sharingan, I can maintain constant manipulation. That would give the Akatsuki a foothold in the Land of Water. Plus, the Three-Tails inside him is one of our targets. Once the time is right, we'll extract it with the others."

Nagato—through the Deva Path—listened in silence. He had never fully trusted Obito or Zetsu, and he always assessed their suggestions carefully.

After a moment, he nodded.

> "Very well. Let's proceed with that plan."

Suddenly—

> "So… your targets are me and the Tailed Beast inside me. Then, as Mizukage, I'll eliminate you here!"

Yagura broke free from the genjutsu and launched into a Coral Palm: Four-Hit Combo, charging Obito with chakra-infused strikes using his weapon.

Obito was caught off guard.

> "He broke free...?"

Genjutsu cast via Sharingan is rarely broken alone—it usually requires another person to disturb the victim's chakra flow. But Yagura was alone… or was he?

> "The Three-Tails... helped him?" Obito realized.

Madara had once told him: "Perfect Jinchūriki are immune to most genjutsu. Their Tailed Beast can disrupt it from within."

Yagura was one of them.

As the Mizukage closed in with another strike, Obito phased through the attack, exploiting his Kamui ability to become intangible.

Seeing the danger escalating near the village gates, Pain turned to Obito.

> "This isn't the right place. Konan and I will withdraw. Handle it."

With that, Pain and Konan leapt away, vanishing into the trees.

> "Tch. Leaving it all to me again..." Obito muttered.

Yagura wasn't about to let any of them escape. He rapidly formed one-handed hand signs.

> "Water Release: Water Fang Bullet!"

Three high-pressure, spiraling jets of water surged toward Obito and the fleeing Akatsuki duo.

Obito calmly let the jets pass through him using Kamui.

Pain, however, turned and raised a single hand.

> "Shinra Tensei."

A burst of gravitational force repelled the attack in an instant. Yagura's eyes narrowed.

> "These three… they're no ordinary shinobi."

In that moment of hesitation, Obito drew a curved scythe—once wielded by Uchiha Madara himself. It had once been chained to Madara's gunbai and was soaked in the blood of countless enemies.

Now, it swung for Yagura.

The Mizukage raised his weapon to parry, then formed hand seals with his free hand.

> "Water Release: Water Fang Blade!"

A spiraling blade of water materialized in his palm and thrust toward Obito's chest.

It struck true—yet met no resistance.

> "As expected... he can phase through solid attacks." Yagura muttered.

Obito retreated quickly.

This skirmish was proving more troublesome than expected. Yagura's perfect Jinchūriki status made him nearly impossible to control—and worse, he was relentlessly aggressive.

Yagura gave chase, launching jutsu after jutsu. But nothing landed—Obito's Kamui phased him through every strike.

> "What is this technique? No jutsu I know can do this..."

Yagura's frustration mounted.

Eventually, Obito halted atop a tree branch. Pain and Konan stood nearby, watching from a higher perch.

> "I've brought him here. Now, will you help?"

But Pain and Konan didn't move. They remained still—calculating.

> "You two really like making me do all the work." Obito said dryly, spreading his hands in mock surrender.
