Chapter 255 - CHAPTER 255

The Birth of Naruto

Chi Yu sat calmly on a rock near the cave, waiting in silence.

Suddenly, a dense fog rose around the area.

Space twisted behind one of the Anbu guards. In the blink of an eye, Uchiha Obito's figure appeared, his hand snapping the ninja's neck before a sound could escape.

The sudden fog concealed the act. The other Anbu hadn't noticed yet.

Obito's gaze shifted toward Chi Yu, who remained seated, eyes fixed on the sky beyond the mist. Though outwardly unbothered, Obito knew Chi Yu had already sensed him—the subtle shift of his hand from the stone to the hilt of his blade was proof enough.

A series of wet slashes echoed through the fog. By the time it lifted, the Anbu outside the cave were already dead.

From the mist, only Chi Yu remained standing, his blade lowered at his side.

Obito stepped forward. "Chi Yu," he said in a low voice.

Chi Yu's eyes finally moved from the sky to Obito. The pressure he gave off, even without intent to fight, was enough to make Obito wary. The fact that Chi Yu wasn't looking at him directly meant one thing—he wasn't planning to break their prior agreement.

Obito exhaled lightly, relieved. He needed Chi Yu as a deterrent, not an enemy.

---

Inside the cave, Minato Namikaze was fully focused, maintaining the sealing formula on Kushina Uzumaki's abdomen. Her screams echoed as the tailed beast's chakra violently resisted.

Hiruzen's wife, Biwako, urged sharply, "Minato! Concentrate! The child is almost out. Leave the outside to the guards!"

Minato clenched his teeth, sweat beading at his temples. "Naruto… just a little more… Hang in there, Kushina!"

---

Outside, Obito began to move toward the rock wall, his body slipping through solid stone with Kamui's intangibility. The protective barrier Minato had set up was meaningless against his space-time ninjutsu.

Chi Yu, still standing in Obito's path, shifted slightly, his gaze narrowing.

Obito stopped. For a moment, tension hung in the air like a drawn blade.

Then, without a word, Chi Yu turned his face away again, permitting him passage.

Obito passed into the cavern.

---

Inside, Kushina gave one final cry, and at last, the wails of a newborn filled the chamber.

Biwako's stern face softened instantly as she lifted the child. "A healthy boy!" she said warmly.

Kushina's eyes filled with tears. "Naruto… I finally see you…"

Minato's chest shook with joy, his eyes wet. "He's here… from today onward, I'm a father."

Biwako carried Naruto toward Kushina. "Let his mother see him first."

As mother and child met for the first time, the heavy strain on Minato's face eased. He held Kushina's hand, whispering, "Thank you…"

Kushina smiled faintly, exhausted but radiant.

But the peace was brief.

In an instant, two sharp cries echoed through the cavern. Blood splattered across the floor. Biwako and Taji, the midwife, collapsed lifelessly.

Minato's head snapped up, horror flooding his face.

Standing there, cradling Naruto in his arms, was a masked man—Obito. His single Sharingan glowed from behind the mask.

And the nightmare of that night truly began.
