Chapter 256 - CHAPTER 256

The Nine-Tailed Fox Rebellion Begins

Naruto was successfully born. Just as Minato Namikaze was about to reinforce the Eight Trigrams Seal on Kushina Uzumaki's (here, Miyuki Uzumaki's) abdomen, a sudden disturbance erupted.

Biwa Koharu's wife, Biwako Sarutobi, and the midwife, Taji, screamed and collapsed—killed instantly.

Minato's pupils shrank sharply as he looked at their fallen bodies.

"Lady Biwako! Taji!"

Standing behind them was a masked man in a black cloak—Uchiha Obito. He held the crying newborn Naruto in one arm, his free hand hovering threateningly over the infant.

Speaking in a voice meant to mimic Uchiha Madara's, Obito declared coldly:

"Fourth Hokage—step away from the Jinchūriki. Otherwise, this child will not live past the next minute."

Minato's expression hardened.

Outside, the sound of battle continued, the barrier still intact. How did he bypass the barrier without alerting anyone?

Kushina's (Miyuki's) concern for Naruto caused her control to falter. Her weakened state after childbirth further loosened the Eight Trigrams Seal, allowing the Nine-Tails' chakra to seep out.

Even the Nine-Tails itself, imprisoned within her, was straining. From the beginning, Kurama hadn't actively resisted—it had been trying to suppress its own chakra to minimize the toll on Kushina's body. But with the seal weakening, chakra inevitably leaked out.

Minato glanced at the strained seal on her abdomen, his expression grim.

Obito produced a kunai in his free hand.

"Move away from the Jinchūriki, Fourth Hokage. Or the boy dies."

Minato raised his hand cautiously.

"Wait! Calm down."

"I'm perfectly calm," Obito snapped, his single Sharingan eye gleaming.

He tossed Naruto into the air. Kushina's weak voice cried out, "Naruto!"

Obito thrust his kunai upward toward the falling infant.

Minato's eyes sharpened. In a flash of speed, he vanished with the Body Flicker Technique, catching Naruto mid-air.

"As expected of the Yellow Flash," Obito sneered. "Even the simplest technique becomes extraordinary in your hands. But what about this?"

He formed a hand seal. Minato's sharp ears caught the faint crackle—three explosive tags were affixed to Naruto's blanket.

"Minato!" Kushina's cry was heart-wrenching.

Without hesitation, Minato stripped away the swaddling and teleported instantly with the Flying Thunder God Technique, relocating to a safehouse. A moment later, the house exploded into splinters.

Clutching the still-crying Naruto, Minato shielded him from the blast, sliding along the ground. When the dust settled, he looked down at his son. Naruto was unharmed. Minato allowed himself a brief sigh of relief.

"Good… Naruto is safe."

But pain shot through his ankle—shrapnel embedded in his leg. Grimacing, Minato realized: His true target is Kushina. He lured me away.

He teleported back, setting Naruto gently down in safety.

"Stay here, Naruto. I'll protect your mother."

---

Meanwhile, Obito used Kamui to spirit Kushina away to a remote stone field. Her body, weakened and bound by his sealing jutsu, collapsed heavily against the rocks.

Her voice trembled.

"W-what do you want…?"

"To rip the Nine-Tails from you… and destroy Konoha."

Her eyes widened in shock.

Obito continued coldly:

"Normally, Minato would never leave your side. But I forced him away. And thanks to childbirth, your seal is weakened. This opportunity… I've waited a long time."

Within Kushina, Kurama stirred violently. The fox remembered a warning it had once received: 'Perhaps in two or three years, the Jinchūriki will face a grave crisis.'

The moment had come.

Kurama immediately tried to leave a portion of chakra behind to protect Kushina, but Obito's Sharingan had already ensnared it in genjutsu.

"Release Seal!"

Obito's hands blurred in seals. The adamantine chains inside Kushina dissolved, the wooden stakes impaling Kurama faded, and the seal on her abdomen unraveled into a black void.

With a furious roar, the Nine-Tails' chakra surged out, coalescing into its massive form.

Kushina crumpled to the ground, her body weakened nearly to death.

Obito's eye gleamed with malice. "Perfect. Now… march on Konoha."

As he turned to leave, Kushina weakly raised her head.

"S-stop…"

"The Uzumaki clan truly is durable," Obito mocked. "Even with a Tailed Beast extracted, you still cling to life. Then allow me to end it."

He formed seals.

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"

A roaring fireball surged toward her.

At that instant, Kushina's left eye flickered strangely—her vision shifting, her Sharingan mutating into Chi Yu's Mangekyō pattern. The flames suddenly dispersed into nothingness.

Obito narrowed his eye. "A seal reaction? No matter. Kurama—kill her."

The Nine-Tails raised its claw to strike—

—and Minato appeared, teleporting in a flash of gold using the mark he had placed on Kushina. He whisked her away in his arms, escaping the crushing blow.

Obito snarled. "The Yellow Flash finally arrives—but too late."

Kushina's voice was weak, fading.

"Minato… Naruto… is he… safe?"

Minato nodded firmly. "Yes. He's safe. I left him in a secure place."

Relief softened her face.

"Good… Then you must stop him… and Kurama… They'll destroy the village…"

Minato's eyes hardened, but instead of striking Obito, he teleported away again with Kushina, determined first to save her life.

Obito's voice echoed coldly as he turned toward Konoha.

"Run, Yellow Flash. It won't matter. Konoha will fall tonight."
