Chapter 96 - A land made for one, but abandoned by one

A strip of land unfolded just on the edge of the horizon, revealing a simple dock with two boats on each side. However, it was really a blur from how far it was; Luna couldn't see any details.

Running down the scenery of endless waterfalls and ocean, focusing on that particular place.

Training really comes in handy. Good thing that Nyx trained me; I wouldn't be able to do it without him! Luna thought.

Not a single drop of sweat fell down Luna's cheek, a stark contrast to just a few weeks ago.

With a grin on her face, she kept her pace. For what felt like hours, the land unnaturally stayed still in place, not becoming any bigger nor closer. As Luna ran, sweat poured down her cheek.

What is… this? How big that… is?

I don't know…

Her legs wobbly, she dragged her feet across the 'Water' and struggled to make another move. But that was it. She didn't want to give up just because of simple exhaustion.

I… this is insane…

But that was the limitation of Luna's body. Her wobbly legs gave out, falling face down onto the 'Water'. But as she was about to hit it, she slowed down, stopping right inches from it, hovering over it as her heartbeat shot through the sky.

Widening her eyes, she swallowed her saliva, saying, "Woah, that scared me…"

She pushed herself up and sat down, staring at the land. Wiping the sweat from her face, she looked down at her trembling legs, thinking, I really want to get there now…

Sighing, she looked up. She jolted, crawling back in shock, breathing heavily; she couldn't believe her eyes. The land that was so far away, and seemingly unreachable, was right in front of her.

"What?" she murmured.

Luna rubbed her eyes in disbelief, looking at the dock that she sat beside. She blinked a few times, pinching her skin yet again, but it just made her flinch from pain.

"How?" she said while standing up, walking slowly towards the dock that, from afar, Luna noticed had two boats.

She saw a simple wooden skiff beached on the simple, smooth wooden dock. Its wood was worn smooth.

Its purpose was rather mysterious; Who lives here? Luna wondered.

Brushing it off, she walked up to it, sliding her fingers along the smooth wood it was made out of. Somehow, Luna could feel the love that the craftsman put into creating it.

Walking up to the dock, she jumped onto it and walked alongside it, thinking, Who's place is this? It feels so lonely here, for whatever reason.

This dock is so… heartwarming? That's the best way I can describe it… Luna thought, while adding, And that's saying a lot from me … anyway. She chuckled

Walking down the dock, she stepped onto the shores of the land. Eerily, the ocean made no waves. The golden sand reflected the sunlight, and it glimmered like gold under it. But looking up, there was no sun anywhere in the sky.

Now that I think about it, where is the sun? Luna looked around, but she only saw the endless waterfalls covering the ocean.

This place is really weird…

Luna stopped on the shore, looking at the dirt path leading somewhere from the beach. With that, a smile slowly grew on her face as she exclaimed, "Not that I care! Let's see what his place has to offer!"

Running down the path, Luna stumbled upon a structure: a single tree. Its trunk was bent to the right, and its leaves glided on the wind. With its roots, it formed a perfect arbor under its trunk. A slender dirt path led around it to three different places on the land, and a crystalline river ringed the tree, isolating it on a tiny island of earth and moss.

She walked into that arbor over a wooden bridge that made its way over the small river around it.

Luna stopped, walking back onto the bridge. She noticed that the particular river that only is around the arbor has its own current.

"How?" she said, expecting no reply.

She shook her head and walked into it. Within, there stood a wooden table with two chairs around it, made out of the roots that the arbor was made of.

And on that table was a porcelain tea cup, with white lilies painted on it.

This place looks… so serene, but that's all to it. Let's go down the path!

Luna ran out of the arbor and around the tree, and made her way down the left path that led towards a blurry structure, so far away.

That blurry structure was like the shape of the palace she lived in.

With a grin on her face, she ran, laughing as she did. Joyfully she enjoyed her time here.
