SEASON 1 EPISODE 13 – "Who Are the Real Monsters?"
The battlefield had calmed, but the storm inside their minds was only beginning. The rain had stopped, but the darkness lingered. Heavy hearts, trembling fists, and silent tears—these were the scars that didn't bleed.
The mission had failed.
The intelligent Wormen had escaped, and with it, the answers they desperately sought. The betrayal by Dara and Sen still hung in the air like a rotten stench no wind could blow away.
---
Surya sat alone, shoulders hunched, gripping his head tightly like it might explode. His breathing was uneven, eyes sunken and clouded. Over and over, the betrayal echoed in his mind.
"Why... why did they do this..."
"We trusted them... fought beside them... bled beside them..."
He clenched his teeth, his voice rising in anger and sorrow,
"If they're our enemies... then why did they protect Regel... Sage... Karan... WHY!?"
His fists slammed into the ground, drawing blood. His soul was spiraling—between confusion, pain, and the feeling of being used.
---
Meanwhile, Regel was pacing in frustration. He kicked debris, yelling like a man on the edge of madness.
"WAIT, YOU FOOLS!! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!"
"I swear, if I catch you—Dara, Sen—I'll make you regret ever turning your backs on us!"
But then he stopped—memories crashing through him. Dara helping him stand during training, Sen pulling him from danger once.
His knees buckled. He fell to the ground, weeping silently.
"Why did you do this to us... to me?"
Regel wasn't just angry. He was heartbroken.
---
Surya stood up, still shaky. He turned to look at Aditya... but his eyes widened.
He was seeing something else now.
In his mind, a flash—the moment he held Aditya's red sword.
A pulse. A darkness. A whisper.
He stepped back.
Aditya noticed.
"What happened?"
"No... it's nothing," Surya replied quickly, but his eyes told another story.
Inside his heart, he murmured silently:
"This can't be true... this fear... it's not Dara... not Sen... this..."
But the word "they"—wasn't about Dara and Sen anymore.
Something else was stirring.
---
They returned to their base, still scarred and broken, dragging the lifeless body of a smaller Wormen. It wasn't much, but it was all they had left from the battle.
In the research lab, Kai worked without pause, eyes tired but determined. Hours passed, and then—
"WHAT THE HELL!?" Kai shouted, knocking tools off the table.
Everyone rushed in. Aditya grabbed his shoulder.
"What is it? What did you find?"
Kai, pale with disbelief, held up his notes.
"This body... it's... it's human. But infected..."
"Infected?" Aditya asked, his voice tense.
"Yes. This body was created by injecting a specific mutated worm strain into human blood. The DNA's still partially human."
The room went silent.
Surya whispered, his voice cracking:
"What does it mean... the ones we killed... they were once... human?"
Kai nodded grimly.
"Yes. All of them."
A moment of silence drowned the room. No one breathed.
But Kai wasn't finished.
"There's more."
He slowly turned his tablet to show them data.
"Here's the real question: who was the first person to ever call them Wormen?"
The others looked confused.
"Think about it," Kai continued, his voice shaking, "that means someone already knew that these monsters were made from worms... someone knew what they were before we ever did."
Aditya stepped back in shock.
"You're saying... they didn't evolve. They were created."
Kai:
"Yes. Someone made them. Someone who knew the process. Someone who named them before we even understood what they were."
The realization sent a chill across the room.
---
Surya's eyes were still distant.
His thoughts… darker than before.
If they were created, then someone was playing god.
Someone knew all along.
And now, the fear that bloomed in Surya's heart… wasn't just about Wormen anymore.
It was about the truth.
And the truth was—
"The real monsters... might be us."
