Eve's POV
I didn't answer Drake. Instead, I rushed to the bathroom, slammed the door shut behind me, and locked it. My heart was racing, my thoughts even more so. What the hell was going on?
Why did he tell me he wants me?
This was not how things were supposed to go. This wasn't supposed to happen at all. Did he not see Elizabeth back there? She was a government official, a powerful witch, and his crush. She was everything that had once mattered to him. She was everything I could never be.
So why the hell was he telling me that he wanted me?
It didn't make sense. He couldn't have fallen for me—Rose—could he? No, that wasn't possible. He'd always been crazy over Elizabeth. Hell, he had chosen her over me before, when I was Eve. He had broken my heart and walked away, leaving me shattered, humiliated, and alone.
