Marcus's POV
I had expected my brother to contact me any time, any day, after the rumors of his awakening spread. But up until now, nothing. No messages, no signs. I had been waiting, hoping for that moment when he'd finally reach out, but he never did. Here I was, pacing in my office, alone.
So, here I was, in my office, as usual—surrounded by papers, half-finished plans, and a lot of frustrated thoughts about my own personal mess. The mess I had been trying to sort out for days. Namely, Rose. The stubborn, elusive witch who had made it very clear she wanted nothing to do with me. As much as I had tried to woo her—charm her, make her see how much I wanted her—I kept running into roadblocks. Every time I made a move, some fling of mine would pop up, distracting me long enough for Rose to slip away.
