Eve POV
I don't know what exactly happened overnight, but something was definitely off about Lucius in the morning. He looked… different. Maybe it was the way his jaw was set, or how his crimson eyes flickered with some deep, unreadable emotion. Or maybe it was the fact that before the first rays of dawn even thought of waking the world, he was already standing over me like some overbearing alarm clock with fangs and zero mercy.
Lucius was acting… off. He looked different too — like something heavy had settled behind his usual stoic mask. His face was unreadable, colder maybe, but not in that intimidating vampire way he sometimes does on purpose to scare me. No, this was something quieter, heavier, like a storm that hadn't broken yet.
And to make matters worse, he decided that today was the perfect day to torment me.
