c128: Super Saiyan IV Son Goku
"Doesn't belong to this time and space?" Pan asked suspiciously, frowning slightly.
"I can't explain everything right now. But I need your help. You must've sensed it Goku's ki has become extremely powerful… and unstable," Li Xu said seriously.
"How did Grandpa end up like this?" Pan asked, deeply concerned.
"I helped Goku transform into a Golden Great Ape. His power increased tenfold just like when Saiyans look at a full Earth or artificial moon but he also lost his reason. I came to you because only you might be able to reach his heart and awaken his mind. If that happens, he can break through… into Super Saiyan 4."
"Just like you did?" Pan gasped.
Without responding, Li Xu's body flared up. A red aura surged, and in the blink of an eye, he transformed into the primal form of Super Saiyan 4 long black hair, red fur, golden irises.
"So strong!" Pan gasped. She could feel his incredible energy pulsing like a volcano.
"No! This is too dangerous. Goku's rampaging he could kill her!" Mr. Satan shouted, stepping forward protectively.
"I have to help Grandpa come back to his senses," Pan said with conviction. "Only then can he beat that monster Baby."
"But aren't you strong enough to defeat Baby yourself?" Mr. Satan turned to Li Xu.
"I could… but I don't belong in this timeline. This battle isn't mine to win," Li Xu said calmly.
If he were to defeat Baby himself, it would mean Goku never achieved Super Saiyan 4. And with threats like Super Android 17 and the Shadow Dragons coming later, the Earth would be defenseless without Goku. Li Xu's presence must remain minimal.
"Don't worry, Grandpa. I'll be fine," Pan assured, then turned to Li Xu. "Let's go. I'll bring him back."
"I'm Li Xu," he said with a grin. "Let's get going."
Without warning, he grabbed Pan by the collar and used Instant Transmission to teleport.
"Ah! You're so rude!" Pan shrieked. "Do you always grab people like they're luggage?"
"No time for dramatics, kid. Focus on waking Goku," Li Xu muttered, eyes narrowing as he spotted the colossal, golden Great Ape rampaging in the distance.
"I'm not a kid!" Pan protested. She turned her gaze to Goku. "I can't let Grandpa stay like this."
"How to awaken his sanity is up to you. I can't intervene further," Li Xu said with a shrug.
Pan flew ahead. Baby, preoccupied elsewhere trying to transform into a Great Ape himself, wasn't nearby yet.
"Grandpa! It's me, Pan!" she shouted, flying in front of the golden beast, hoping to reach his heart.
But the ape's response was a backhanded slap, swatting her away.
"Ow!" Pan groaned as she tumbled across the ground. Thankfully, Goku hadn't used his full power. If he had, Li Xu would've stepped in.
Pan's backpack hit the dirt and burst open. A child-sized gi fell out the one Goku made for her years ago, for the World Martial Arts Tournament.
"Grandpa, do you remember this?" she called again, flying up with the small gi clutched in both hands. "You made it for me! I've kept it all this time!"
"Rrrgh…" Goku exhaled a hot breath, blowing her back again. This time, a photograph fluttered out of her backpack Goku's massive fingers caught it midair.
It was an old photo. Baby Pan nestled in Goku's arms, the two of them smiling on a sunny beach.
"Grandpa…" Pan floated back to his eye level, tears streaming down her face. A single tear dropped onto Goku's massive hand.
"RAAAHH!" Goku suddenly roared in agony, clutching his head with both hands, thrashing violently.
"Grandpa!" Pan shouted.
A powerful red light exploded from Goku's body. His giant form shrank, slowly reverting to humanoid size.
"It's working," Li Xu muttered with a small smile.
The light faded. Standing in place of the Great Ape was Goku, his body now covered in red fur, tail swaying behind him. His black spiked hair was longer, and his golden eyes glimmered with focus.
"Wow… Grandpa? Is that really you?" Pan gasped, flying over.
"Pan…" Goku smiled faintly.
"Grandpa!" she cried joyfully.
"What happened here?" Goku asked, surveying the wreckage around them.
"You turned into a Great Ape and went wild," Pan said, puffing her cheeks in mock scolding. "You wrecked all this!"
"Congratulations, Son Goku," Li Xu said as he approached, arms crossed. "You've finally become a Super Saiyan 4."
"I can't wait to test this power. After we defeat Baby… I want to spar with you," Goku said, his fists trembling with excitement.
"I'd be honored," Li Xu replied with a grin.
This Goku's base power had reached 100 billion after regaining his adult body temporarily and his Super Saiyan 4 level now stood near 4 trillion. A worthy opponent indeed.
"Please watch over Pan for me," Goku said, glancing at Baby's looming ki in the distance.
"I don't want him watching me!" Pan muttered under her breath. She still hadn't forgiven Li Xu for grabbing her like cargo.
But Goku had already flown off to confront Baby.
"Well, we won't see much from here. Let's find a better viewing spot," Li Xu said. Ignoring Pan's protests, he grabbed her again and vanished with Instant Transmission.
They reappeared in the World of the Kais, startling the Elder Supreme Kai and East Supreme Kai, who had been watching Goku's transformation through a scrying orb.
"You're so rude! Again!" Pan yelled, fuming.
"Where… are we?" she asked, looking around.
"This is the Sacred World of the Kais," Li Xu explained.
The two Supreme Kais flew over, eyes narrowing as they recognized the mysterious intruder.
"It's him again," East Kai whispered. In this timeline, he had already merged with Kibito to become Kibitoshin.
The Kais had sensed Goku's Super Saiyan 4 breakthrough and Li Xu's influence.
"Hi there," Li Xu waved casually.
"Who are you really?" the Elder Kai asked warily.
"Do you recognize this?" Li Xu held up the ring on his finger.
"What's that?" East Kai blinked, confused.
"The Time Ring…" Elder Kai whispered, eyes wide. As someone who had lived through eons, he knew the legend of the Time Ring well.
"Now you understand," Li Xu said with a smirk. The elder's recognition saved him the effort of further explanation.
"You… you're from the Time Patrol… from the Realm of Time itself!" the Elder Supreme Kai gasped, trembling slightly.
He had only heard of such people in ancient lore he never expected to meet one.
