The detective looked at Claude. Something about him made the detective doubt his words. Claude's actions didn't feel random. However, he had no reason to call Claude a liar. Moreover, the other passengers didn't see more than what Claude had said.
He then looked at Eugene, so the other guy nodded.
Eugene saw Claude acting like a different person. However, it might be necessary to get away from the police. The hunters had informants within their ranks.
He played along. "I wasn't at the front, but I heard the gunshot. It was so loud and out of nowhere. I even thought my friend was shot! Luckily, he wasn't. Damn, what jumped inside the bus? Why did they shoot at it like we're not going to get hit?"
