Zoe's POV
I didn't realize when morning came.
When I opened my eyes, I felt different—refreshed. Well rested. It was a strange kind of peace that wrapped around me like an invisible blanket.
My mornings usually felt jagged, messy, like I'd woken up in the middle of a storm I couldn't escape. Most days I jerked up from sleep, heart pounding, some terrifying scene still flashing across my mind. But not this morning.
There were no nightmares.
I blinked at the ceiling, my mouth parting on reflex as a loud yawn slipped out. I stretched my arms until my joints popped and cracked as I sighed in relief. My face felt warm, so I wiped at it with one hand. Dry. On the other hand No tears. No damp pillow sticking to my cheek.
That was weird. But in a good way.
