Chapter 23 - Chapter 17: Despicable

Qimeng rolled her eyes dramatically and said, "Of course I have to follow you, what are you thinking?"

"Uh... okay."

"Remember to pack your things when you get home, don't forget the towels, the ones in hotels aren't clean, toothbrushes and bed sheets... forget it, you won't remember even if I tell you. Just bring three changes of clothes, I'll prepare the rest."

"Oh..."

"This is too sudden... I won't say more, I need to pack now."

"Alright..."

"Mua~, bye hubby."

"...Bye."

"Beep beep beep..."

...

To be honest, Qin Miao had a moment where Qimeng didn't feel like the classmate who shared the same desk for three years, but more like a longtime spouse living with him.

But Qimeng's sudden "mua, bye hubby" left Qin Miao a bit at a loss.

Part of Qin Miao's non-rejection and passive attitude towards Qimeng comes from his fondness for her.

However, more so because Qin Miao, once he stopped focusing on Fan Yue, realized that Qimeng was quite beautiful and quite suited to his taste, so he found himself attracted to her body. Qin Miao, you scoundrel!

Being too devoted in relationships can be a downside; when you like someone, you focus intently on them, often missing the beauty around you.

When a person who matches your tastes in every way suddenly confesses to you at your most vulnerable moment, boldly declaring her affection for you.

Even if Qin Miao wasn't in the best state of mind at the time, he still didn't reject her.

How could a normal person tenderly refuse?

Back home, Qin Miao's mom hadn't left work yet, so he followed Qimeng's advice and took out three sets of clothes from the wardrobe.

Although Qin Miao didn't understand why he needed three changes of clothes just to collect some prize money, couldn't he just come back right after?

But he instinctively followed Qimeng's instructions.

He carefully placed his phone charger, ID card, and scratch-off tickets in the inner compartment of his backpack, then stuffed in three sets of clothes, which was all Qin Miao packed for the trip.

There wasn't much, and it couldn't even fill a backpack.

After packing, Qin Miao happily turned on his computer.

Even though he experienced more excitement today than in his entire life, the scratch-off tickets and the extra 30,000 yuan in his Alipay within just ten minutes washed away all his negative feelings.

Even because Qin Miao unexpectedly landed a girlfriend, his previously empty heart felt an unanticipated sense of belonging.

While waiting for the computer to boot, Qin Miao decided to grab a health potion, but upon checking his system found that the five bottles he had were reduced to just two.

Thinking it over, Qin Miao decided to take both out, opened one for himself, leaving the other for his mom to try.

With about an hour before his mom returned, after starting the computer, Qin Miao chose not to play the simulator but opened CSGO instead.

At this time, as long as the game doesn't go into overtime, there's enough time to play two rounds of CSGO.

After all, he needed to cook once his mom returned.

Upon launching CSGO, Qin Miao initially intended to jump into matchmaking, but after seeing the yellow notification box in his inventory, he instinctively wanted to clear it.

But to clear the notification, he had to open his inventory, and upon doing so, he saw the hundred or so cases he had accumulated while gaming.

Seeing all those cases, Qin Miao couldn't help but think of the 30,000 yuan paycheck he got earlier from the 'system.'

He felt an urge boiling inside.

Swallowing, he made mental calculations.

Current cases are pretty cheap, a few cents each, practically free.

But the keys are more expensive, officially priced at 17 yuan each.

Qin Miao wasn't sure about the exact number of cases in his storage, but estimated around 100, meaning it'd only cost 1,700 to open them all.

What if his luck carried over from the scratch-off tickets and he scored something great?

After all, for him now, 1,700 isn't an insurmountable expense, and he won't be financially crippled by spending it.

With that thought, Qin Miao's eyes lit up, and he took out his phone to open WeChat...

Then contacted the key supplier.

Who would buy official keys, what a rip-off! From the key supplier, 100 keys only cost 1,500, much cheaper than official pricing.

Even with Qin Miao's unexpected windfall, he still maintained frugal habits.

Within around 5 minutes, 100 keys were acquired, and since Qin Miao was a new customer, the key supplier generously threw in an extra 100 cases.

Qin Miao thought the supplier was generous, but in reality, it was a baited hook.

The 100 cases totaled less than 10 yuan, while the supplier made at least 50 yuan profit on selling 100 keys to Qin Miao, sacrificing 10 yuan profit for potential future purchases from this client was obvious in benefit.

But at that moment, Qin Miao couldn't concern himself with such details, and after rubbing his hands eagerly, he commenced opening cases.

Opening one case took about 15 seconds, but could be skipped.

Meaning, after opening the case, you don't watch the reel, just exit.

This skips the box-opening animation, directly showing you the result.

Using this method, one could open a box in under 5 seconds.

This was Qin Miao's first time opening so many boxes at once, so he didn't skip, instead watching each reel complete.

Half an hour later...

Looking at the screen filled with blue colors, a smattering of pink, and that well-worn black Phantom M4A4, Qin Miao wished he could slap himself for being such a fool half an hour ago.

Why was he so impulsive, wouldn't it have been better not to open those worthless cases!

Qin Miao, have you forgotten you never got anything good from opening cases?

After mentally reinforcing the self-hypnosis to avoid all luck-based draws, Qin Miao equipped the skins he could use.

After all, these skins he got were still from his own openings, even if they weren't worth much, they were usable.

He played another game, and midway his mom returned, just about the time dinner was ready when Qin Miao finished the game.

At the dinner table, Qin Miao told his mom, "Mom, I have something to tell you."

"Hmm."

"In the afternoon, I bought a lottery ticket."

Upon hearing Qin Miao's words, his mom's brows immediately furrowed.

Though his mom usually didn't interfere much in Qin Miao's personal affairs, as long as he didn't cross fundamental lines, she was more open-minded than most parents, proven by buying the simulator for him.

But for his mom, lottery and gambling were synonymous, so Qin Miao had already crossed a line.
