Because she realises even if she chooses one of them then her life will be worse than hell after all she has just become an unwanted child to her parents
The unwanted child will not receive care or love, so she decided to live alone and the court agreed to her decision as the court also orders parents to send her allowance till she becomes a proper adult
Even though all this happened, the only person who still stood with her was none other than her best friend Rika who decided to stay with her in order to protect her
Fortunately, because of this, she managed to graduate as well as get into medical college but she was mostly alone there since Rika chose another profession
Even though she was alone but luckily she wasn't in danger since most people in her profession were females which is the reason she doesn't need to worry much about getting attacked
Meanwhile, Rika not only dropped Shizuka off at college but also came to pick her up and with this she managed to get past the college
After that, she got an internship then finally managed to get a job in a High School, even though she again got discriminated against as well as sexualised her but since the pay was very good, she decided to stay
Also, the fact that she used to this and now doesn't care what people think of her anymore and the mentality really helped her a lot
After some time, she even managed to get her own house then car but the unfortunate thing was that Riku decided to live somewhere else due to her work as well because of her Job, her life isn't safe at all
And thats why Riku doesn't want Shizuka's life to be in danger by living with her Also at this point Rika also considered Shizuka as someone Airhead
Since Rika has a lot of Weapons in her house, she doesn't want Shizuka to get close to those weapons and accidentally injure herself And even though they live separately, they have been contacting each other on a daily basis

And people who kidnapped her seem to be part of the gang as well she managed to recognise some of the people who kidnapped her
These are people none other than try to flirt as well as touch her, At first, she managed to get away with the help of the police
And it was good for days or even weeks making Shizuka think that those people are scared of the police now till this day when she got kidnapped by them
They were all stalking her in order to find the right moment to take her away when she was alone, and after knowing this
Shizuka truly lost every hope right now since she knows no one will be safe at this moment since the only person she considered her family is Ruka and she is somewhere else due to her work
But when she lost all hope there was someone who was lying on the roof of this factory and that person is none other than Kaneki
Kaneki at that time already had a lot of thoughts in his mind while his body was also tired as he looked down and saw the scene
Seeing the scene, Kaneki instantly knows what's happening right now and after some processing in his mind, he finally decides to save her
