The sudden sound, without any warning, made the hairs on the backs of the four Asgardian warriors stand on end. Even Thor felt a chill rush from the soles of his feet to the back of his head.
However, the four Asgardian fighters were not novices. Their years of battle experience made them react instantly, turning their bodies toward the source of the sound.
Not far behind them, a small figure appeared.
It was Madam Gao, leaning on her crutches.
She was short—barely 1.6 meters tall—and appeared especially small standing before the towering Asgardian warriors and Thor.
Yet, none of the four warriors, not even Thor, dared to underestimate her.
Some people's combat prowess cannot be measured by their size or age.
The fact that she could appear behind them so silently without being detected said a lot about her strength. Her small stature might have given her an advantage of being underestimated, but her abilities were clearly far beyond ordinary.
"Who are you?" Volstagg asked in a deep voice.
"You killed my people, broke into my territory, and now you're asking who I am?"
Madam Gao chuckled while leaning on her crutches. "Don't you think that's ridiculous? Five of you—state your names."
The four Asgardian warriors and Thor scratched their heads, inexplicably feeling that her words sounded oddly familiar, as if they'd heard them recently.
"State your name?"
Thor rolled his eyes and sneered. "I am Thor, Son of Odin! I am God of Thunder! The Mjolnir in your warehouse belongs to me! I've come to reclaim it!"
'That hammer… is it called Mjolnir?'
"Oh, how delusional."
Madam Gao said coldly. "I've heard of Leigong, but never of any 'Thor.'"
[TN: Leigong is God of Thunder in Chinese mythology.]
"The five of you trespassed into my territory without permission and slaughtered so many of my people. If you can't give me a satisfactory explanation, none of you are leaving!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Madam Gao tapped her crutch against the ground.
A nearly invisible force exploded outward. Smoke and dust billowed; the shockwave was incredibly powerful.
Fandral, Hogun, and Sif's expressions shifted slightly. They quickly raised their weapons to defend themselves.
Volstagg pulled a shield from his back, leaped in front of Thor, and slammed the heavy shield into the ground.
A dull thud echoed out.
Psychokinetic attacks, by nature, are indiscriminate.
Madam Gao's psychokinesis wasn't yet on a god-like level, so the four Asgardian warriors were able to resist it with relative ease. Thor, however, was different. He screamed in pain as a tearing sensation ripped through his body. He dropped to one knee, grimacing in agony.
Though this initial clash was merely a show of power from Madam Gao—and she hadn't even used her full strength—she still managed to seize the upper hand.
Smoke rose slowly from the ground due to the psychokinetic blast.
At that moment, a murmur echoed from the rooftop of nearby Warehouse No. 3.
"Looks like we made it just in time to catch the best part of the show."
Looking closer…
Hidden beneath the cover of night were a man and a woman—one tall, one short.
The man wore a sleek, black hooded windbreaker with a touch of elegance. His face was obscured, gloves on his hands, and a modern-looking bow and arrows strapped to his back. He was fully geared.
The young woman didn't bother hiding her face. About nineteen or twenty years old, she had an oriental appearance, striking purple eyes, black hair, and a cute demeanor. Dressed in a purple skirt, she sat on the edge of Warehouse No. 3, legs dangling playfully, her large violet eyes watching the chaos below with interest.
They were Blaine and Gali, who had just arrived.
---
BOOM!
A deafening sound tore through the air.
The four Asgardian warriors were unwilling to remain passive.
They exchanged a glance, instantly understanding one another, and charged Madam Gao with their weapons raised.
Thor took advantage of the distraction and ran toward Warehouse No. 3.
He needed to retrieve Mjolnir and regain his power!
"!"
Madam Gao snorted coldly. Facing the combined assault of the four warriors, she no longer hold back.
Grabbing the handle of her crutch, she gave it a light twist and then pulled.
A cold gleam emerged under the streetlights—it was a hidden blade.
A sword hidden in a crutch!
She didn't need the crutch to walk at all.
What she revealed was a short sword about one meter long.
With a focused thought, she channeled her psychokinesis into the blade and clashed head-on with Fandral's attack!
This was necessary—she had to make her psychokinesis 120% effective in battle.
From the prior clash, she realized the armor and weapons of these warriors were no ordinary tools. She'd spent some time in Kunlun and even teamed up with others to steal valuable items, but that was nothing compared to this.
Only Earth's master craftsmen could forge top-tier weapons.
But weapons made by Asgardian blacksmiths the Dwarves were on another level entirely.
Although Madam Gao didn't know about Asgard's existence, she was sharp enough to understand she couldn't rely on mortal weapons to fight them directly.
*Clang!*
Fandral's bones, muscles, and skin were three times tougher than those of an ordinary human.
To a normal person, he would appear superhuman.
But Madam Gao wasn't ordinary. Her extended lifespan had given her a formidable physique. While it might not be three times as strong, it was enough to parry Fandral's blow.
Besides, in a sword duel, skill often trumped strength.
Their blades collided—sparks flew.
Feeling the tremendous force surging through her arm, Madam Gao's expression remained calm. With a flick of her wrist, she deflected Fandral's sword slightly to the left. His blade slid along hers, and much of the force behind his swing was diffused.
As a result, Fandral stumbled and was forced to leap backward.
Still, he was a seasoned warrior. He quickly recovered, pivoted on one foot, and brought his blade to bear against Madam Gao once again.
Fandral's first strike had failed.
But Madam Gao didn't have time to breathe.
Volstagg, Hogun, and Sif—Asgard's only female warrior—launched their attacks in rapid succession!
One of the Five Fingers of the Hand...
Now facing 1 versus 4!
