RAIN POV
I woke up screaming.
My throat burned, my chest heaved, and for a moment, I didn't know where I was. My hands were trembling, clutching at the air, still trying to shove that shadow away.
"Rain!"
Batista's voice cut through the fog. He was beside me, grabbing my shoulders, pulling me into his arms. "Hey, hey—look at me. You're safe."
I blinked, gasping, my body drenched in sweat. The room was dark, only the faint glow of the fire flickering across the walls. But I could still feel it — that cold breath on my neck, that whisper in my head.
I pressed my face against his chest, trying to steady my breathing. His heart was beating, strong and steady, against my cheek. It grounded me.
"I saw him," I whispered hoarsely. "I saw the Void King."
Batista stiffened, his hand tightening around me. "What did you see?"
