So, you want to join the Pirate crew.
But what exactly, should you do?
And Why - and How - can ye become one through and through?!
This is, of course, the point of "The Pirate's Way", a manifesto written by yours truly, the one-an'-only Pyers Rate-io-Kapitan, which aims to elucidate ye landlubbers, and to promote the Pirate Way of Life, Arrr!!!
We wills keeps it short!!!
"Always remember, that the number one reason ye should become a Pirate, is simply because... of MOM."
"No, not me actual ma, bless her 100% cotton pirate socks!!!"
"I mean... MOM."
"Motive. Opportunity. Means!!!!"
"Let us begin with Motive."
There is always an 'official', 'commonly accepted way' to do things in life.
Now... Ever since we could remember, from the days of our misspent youth, Society, the Government, the Powers that be, has always told us, arrr, that all we need ta' do, to achieve wealth, health and happiness, is to simply learn to play 'the Game' of Life. Buy in to the belief that we're all equal. We all have a chance to win. Just do the right thing, follow the rules, brook no vice, and eventually, you'll get your own little slice of paradise...!!!
But...!!! Have ye considered… that in actual fact... 'the Game' is - and has always been - run by those in power, the rules made by those with privilege?! Arrrr!!!! It's all very well for those born in the lap of luxury, or born with a silver spoon, to say just work harder, Arrr!!!
And yet! History. The reality, it doesn't lie. In the end, in general, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. Indeed. As we grow older, we begin to discover… that this 'Game' we all have been told to play… it's rigged, Arrrr!!!!
So first, ye become a Pirate as a way to escape the rigged 'Game', the powers that be, for a chance at glory and fame, that ye otherwise never would have!!!
This, is our Motive.
And now we move on, to Opportunity.
Thanks to Human Ingenuity, and the efforts of our earlier Pirate kin... those who have realised the Truth… there are also… alternatives to 'the Game', Arrr. Loopholes, one might say, to those who are aware of them, to those who question, those who were willing to take the risks, and accordingly, reap the rewards!!!!
This is what we call… Opportunity!!!
As we Pirates say:
"Opportunity is everywhere.
We live in the land of Opportunity.
We take the Opportunities we are given...
-And even the ones we aren't !!!! Arrrr!!!!!"
But of course, Motive and Opportunity, even with the ones we make fer ourselves, is no guarantee of a genuine chance at success, wealth and freedom...
In the end, it requires Means!!! This is the 'How', enabling us to bypass the rigged 'Game', the comforting Lies that those in Power, and who wish to keep it that way, would have us swallow, arrr!!!!!
In the past, we had cannons, and ships. Now!!! With the advent of Technology, and the power of the People!!! The modern Pirate now fights against the corruption, against control, against the rigged 'Game' with modern tools… giving us a true chance, to experience genuine victory!!!!!
