Chapter 93 - Chapter 91

Chapter 91: Alexander's Data

"This assignment is really difficult. Seven inches—how am I supposed to write that much?" Ron groaned, rubbing his eyes.

"Exactly," Harry sighed. "Even if I include everything about the Lumos Charm, it's barely three inches."

After dinner, around six o'clock, most of the Ravenclaws—especially the first-years—decided to head back to their common room to finish homework together. The house's private library and quiet atmosphere made it the perfect place to study, though it also made Ravenclaws a bit more detached from the other houses.

Ron and Harry, who had originally planned to sneak off and see what was happening with Filch's confiscated items, had no choice but to join the group. The banned objects weren't much use to them—Ron didn't have the money, and Harry wasn't interested in buying anything shady.

While Terry Boot, Michael Corner, and Anthony Goldstein had already finished their assignments and were casually reading books that actually interested them, Harry and Ron were stuck staring at barely an inch of writing. They kept measuring their parchment with a ruler, silently praying the letters would magically stretch to fill the rest.

"Alexander, do you know how to write this?" Harry finally asked, interrupting Alexander Smith, who was deep in a mental strategy game with Kate and Penelope.

"Homework?" Alexander replied while simultaneously dodging Kate's dual-blade strategy in his mind. "Just write about how you learned the spell, your thoughts on it, and some guesses or observations. If it still feels short, just increase your handwriting size."

"Alexander, that's cheating!" Hermione, ever the model student, immediately protested, shocked by the suggestion.

"It actually works?" Ron asked, amazed.

"What else can I do?" Harry looked conflicted. Though raised in the Muggle world, he'd developed good academic habits in primary school.

Alexander shrugged. "The harder—but better—way is to look up information and process it into your own words. For example, take this book—The Evolution of the Curse—it explains the history of common spells in a simple way."

He pulled a book from the shelf beside him and flipped to a marked page. "See here? Lumos comes from the Latin root lumen, which itself comes from the Proto-Indo-European root leuk-—both mean 'light.' Tons of related words come from it. I've listed the key ones."

"Like what?" Ron leaned in.

"Luminous means glowing. Then you have illuminate for lighting something up, illustration for explaining something, elucidate for clarification, translucent for semi-clear, and lucid for being clear or articulate."

"Harry, you could structure your essay based on that logic. Walk through the origin of the spell, then describe how its meaning and usage connect. That alone gets you five inches. Add your practice experience, and you've got plenty."

"Right." Harry quickly took the book, nodding. Ron scooted closer, and Neville also leaned in, eager to absorb what he could.

Meanwhile, Hermione looked like her soul had momentarily left her body. She stared at Alexander like he had turned into a golden statue.

That was the difference in Ravenclaw. Unlike Hermione, who loved knowing everything, Ravenclaws loved knowing what interested them. They weren't walking encyclopedias—they were passionate researchers. That's why Hermione never stood out much in this house.

But Alexander didn't have time to reflect on Hermione's crisis of identity. He was juggling questions from her while also continuing his mental strategy game with Kate and Penelope, which now involved martial arts, spirit beasts, and justice in a fantasy Jianghu.

Still, multitasking was easy for him now.

After three years of study—plus data from powerful underwater wizard populations—Alexander had made several discoveries about wizarding limits.

An ordinary adult wizard's magic power was around 3. Reaching 20 was rare. Most "powerful" wizards relied not on raw magic power, but on efficiency and technique.

In terms of strength, they were no different from Muggles, rarely exceeding a score of 10. However, their physical fitness (which included durability and magical resistance) often reached 20 due to exposure to magical environments.

That's why wizards could survive high falls during Quidditch or endure minor curses without dying. But in direct physical comparison to Muggles, they were still relatively fragile.

In disciplines like Charms or Transfiguration, normal wizards averaged Lv.3, occasionally reaching Lv.4 in their specialized field. Such a wizard was dangerous only if their main spell was hard to counter.

Ravenclaws, due to their diverse training and mindset, were generally more difficult opponents. They could switch spells mid-fight, adapt quickly, and strategize better—no wonder Professor Flitwick, a Ravenclaw, was a former dueling champion.

Once a wizard reached Lv.6, however, they left the realm of ordinary magic. This was where Dumbledore's ideology came in: he believed that hard work and love—true emotional resonance—were the key to miracles.

According to Dumbledore's view, after achieving Lv.6 in a core field, a wizard should start building a personal style—reorganizing and perfecting their spell arsenal around that core.

This, in the original timeline, was the foundation for how he trained Harry.

But things were different now.

Alexander chuckled to himself. Voldemort? To him, the Dark Lord was nothing more than a decaying fossil buried in a grave. If he wanted to, Alexander could destroy all of Voldemort's Horcruxes in a single day.

But he held back.

Why? Because he still suspected a trap—maybe something hidden behind this so-called "prophecy." He still had room to grow. No need to rush.

The biggest recent breakthrough was the Love skill he'd absorbed from Harry.

Even at just Lv.2, it allowed Alexander to boost the power of any spell below Lv.4 by two full levels, and even Lv.4 spells could temporarily reach Lv.6 strength.

That made Alexander one of the only known wizards whose entire spell arsenal was at Lv.6 power or higher. Dumbledore had only just reached that threshold.

Both Dumbledore and Voldemort stood at the edge of Lv.7—a mythical boundary no modern wizard had fully crossed.

Dumbledore relied on ancient knowledge and the Elder Wand. Voldemort depended on Horcruxes and forbidden transformations. Both were stuck, but dangerous.

And Alexander?

He wasn't just knocking on the door.

He was building the key.
