The atmosphere on the table was great with everyone enjoying their meal when grandma told them they'll be having a guest for dinner.
"Michelle and her child will be joining us for dinner" grandma James said
" Wahoo it's been a while I last saw her and I never new she's married with a child" Edward James said but his sister rolled her eyes at him
"You don't really care if she's here or not, always been cold towards her" Vanessa stated but Edward shrugged
"Am only interested in the affairs of my wife and family" Edward said
"Michelle is family" grandma said
"Yeah indeed" Edward said dismissively as he kept putting food on his wife's plate, grandpa James was all smiles seeing his grandson care for his wife and also noticed how he engaged in little talks now.
Edward brought a grilled fish to Maria's plate, the sight was tempting but when Maria made attempt to eat she covered her mouth with her hands then stood up running towards a guest room nearby and into the washroom she emptied her stomach into the bowl but felt some comfort when a hand softly on her back.
"Here, have some water" Edward gave her a bottle of water, when she was done and they both got out the old couple were all smiles.
"How are you feeling my dearest?"
"You should have some rest I'll ask the kitchen to prepare something light and healthy for you and the baby" grandma James said and Maria felt her knees going weak
"I'll confirm that, Maria please have a seat" Kristen said as he held her seat on the arm chair, as a professional in the medical field he knows what it is already; main while Edward was lost at what his grandma said a while ago
"Did you say baby? What baby?" Edward James asked confused
"You're going to be a father bro" Kristen told him after his physical examination on Maria, Edward was lost he looked at his wife and she gave him the " am sorry" look , he smiled at her as they all were happy with the good news.
"Congratulations to you love birds" Kristen congratulates the couples as well as the rest of the family members even though a part of Edward wasn't happy for just getting to know still he waited till when he was alone and also back to their bedroom before questioning his wife.
"Until when do you plan on keeping it away from me?" He asked his wife just as she came out of the walk-in closet but got no response from her.
"Talk to me Maria! How long have you known_ wait a minute, was this the reason you had a fever and refused seeing a doctor?" He asked again and this time around she nods
"Use your words" he told her, Maria sighed
"Yes it's the reason I didn't see a doctor" she said looking everywhere but him
"In other words you've known for how long_ a month now" he said as he connected the dots together, his last trip was about that same period.
"You had know intention of telling me about our child do you?" Edward James was lost not sure why she hid the pregnancy from him.
"I had know idea how to tell you and I was scared" she said to him
"If you didn't know how that's more reason you should have come to the hospital with me and let the doctors do their job but noooo you didn't because you were scared I'd become Cent Clark" Edward James said facepalming himself letting out a hot breath as he paced the bedroom but stopped when he heard her sniffing.
"Why are you crying" he couldn't help but ask instead of answering him Maria dashed off inside the washroom locking the door, Edward sighed before going to change his outfit.
"Are you going to the company?" Grandpa James asked when he saw how he was dressed
"Yes grandpa, something just came up" said Edward James but he's grandpa knew better as he walked him to his car then told him "going to the office won't resolve it it's best you both talk about it to free your minds" he said
"Grandpa how did_" Edward James was going to say but grandpa James tapped on his shoulders
"Women are very sensitive during pregnancy, they easily get triggered by a pin touch so handle her with care and wisdom" with that grandpa James got back inside living Edward to decide going to the office or not at the end he chooses to go to the company.
Edward James was in the middle of a meeting when his phone lite up several times but he ignored it but when he heard the personalized ringing tune of his wife he held out his hand to the lady giving a presentation as a sign for her to hold on.
Thinking it was his wife calling he picked up the call walking towards the window
"Hello my precious queen" he said and those closer to him heard his endearment title and knew it's none other than Mrs Edward calling.
"Daddy it's Mia calling, grandpa said you went to the company it's Saturday for crying out loud daddy and you are supposed to spend time with mom and myself, you're such a workaholic" Edward James found it strange how a child of four years is reprimanding him and he lost words for her; massaging his forehead he sighed
"It's an emergency and I'll be home when am done here" he managed to say
"Okay daddy I've got great news and am super excited, come soon daddy I love you" her baby voice said
"I love you too my pri_" he was saying but heard his wife's voice calling out to the little girl
Mia is that my phone in your hands' she asked
' yes mom am sorry I needed to speak with daddy' Mia
'you got your iPad' wife
' got zero battery' Mia
' you should have asked and not you taking it without my consent, I've got important emails in it' wife
Edward found their banter amusing and he made attempt to relax lazyly on the window frame but when he saw those seated in the conference room from his peripheral view he composed himself then hung up the call.
